  1. Willy- I suggest if you can't bring any information to the table without insulting other members, then leave it to yourself. If you are into commodities and have a good idea about the subject, whether as a hobby or professionally, then teach others what you know, don't insult them because you know more(or think you do) about the subject than others. There is such a thing as being tactful about correcting someone if they are mistaken. The "no offense, but" doesn't work for me. Thanks.

  2. Saying something like "Not to be mean" one sentence before a snarky jab at his reading comprehension kind of removes any genuine meaning the words had initially.

  3. Last month i bought a nice lot of minifigures all loose mint for 100.00 delivered on ebay buy it now, there was a chrome darth vader, jango fett, chrome stormtrooper and 12 others. it was a very nice lot. I paid instantly and the seller told me they were going to throw in some bonus figures. when i opened the box right on top was a bagged white boba fett!!!! under was also two different yodas thrown in. Probably by far the best seller that went out of thier way to make a happy customer.

  5. Nah, it is the "keeping up with the Joneses" mentality. Some people are just too lazy to do their own research and depend on others to tell them what to buy, how to act, etc etc. In short, a bunch of :sheep: sidenote: I just learned there is a limit to the number of emoticons allowed per post

  7. What would be your vote for the next theme for Lego to do? I think my vote would be for theme parks. I think it would be cool to see roller coasters etc.

  9. The B-wing is very fragile. At the LEGO store near me they had to rebuild the display model 3 times because it kept falling apart. Obviously kids are bumping the display cubes, but I do think that LEGO models should be able to withstand some minor bumps without falling apart. They gave it to me one of the times to try to fix it and it is just not very sturdy. Things were falling off left and right as I put it together and this isn't my first rodeo. Future buyers will generally be unaware or won't care about this fact though, so I don't think it will be a factor in its future value. The problem will be that it is an undesired set that will be available in large quantities from resellers for a long time before it sees typical UCS-like gains, if ever, in my opinion.

  10. I agree. No more are being made IMO. They sold these at 50% OFF to unload them and close them out. It's toast. You might still have a couple pop up, but it's time for the B-Wing to ride into the sunset.

  12. A little teaser for the community (although admittedly this is a bit of a threadjack) - there will be a Blog article coming soon on this very subject. Keep an eye peeled for it over the next couple of days...

  14. Personally I don't short sell anything...it's not really my investment style. It's valid, and some people are really good at it, but it's just like with LEGO...some people only buy big sets because that approach fits their style.

  16. Yeah, but why isn't it realized? 97% of this stuff is just sitting there because 97% of human beings have the same mentality as raccoons. "Ooooooh, shiny!" We are doomed.

  17. Dammit willy quit clogging the thread with your butthurt nonsense. You were right, but you were rude. You were called on it, big deal. Let's move on. That goes for the rest of you, too.

  20. It certainly is solid and impressive. I love the look of it now. It still isn't worth the price tag though

  21. Inflation seems inevitable given the levels of Quantitative Easing (read printing money) that has occurred. I'm not a fan of investing in gold or other similar asset classes personally. I prefer stocks as you can research a company to at least feel like you are making an informed investment decision. Or just put it all in Lego

  26. Hey guys I can see some people have read this thread but not replied. I would like to get the aussie section up and running. To follow up on the toy sales, I just bought 2 x horizon express trains for $124 each, BELOW US price @129. After reading the blog today about planes, trains, cars and ships I really do not have to say any more about this set except, BUY!! I plan to source some cheapish power functions sets and when I do I shall inform people. TRU have 2 LOTR items I am going to get them to price match today, 79007 and 79006 (Battle at black gate and council of elrond). 79 and 45 then minus another 10%. After they do that thats when I say I will take 3 of each Myer also has: 9398 - 4x4 Crawler for $219 (yes you can source cheaper from overseas) 42000 - Grand Prix Racer for $119 (cheaper than US and I can not source this cheaper) 10226 - Sopwith Camel for $99 best current price. I plan to get a couple. These are the only current toys sales, Target & BigW start on thursday. Target has : 10937 - Arkham Asylum Breakout for $200 10225 - R2D2 - $200 (if you missed out last year)

  27. I haven't seen any left in B&M stores where I am - this should still be available online...for now. The danger is waiting a bit too long and missing out (which I've done before). Once S&**** lists the set as out of stock/retired, there will be a run on stock at major online retailers very quickly.

  32. The minifigure price guide will be a lot more difficult to properly implement, but as my brother said, it is something we are working on. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of variations of descriptions by EBAY sellers. Some sellers outright lie about things being 'new' or what set they came from. The minifigure price guide is something we will tackle when the set guide and tools is where we want and need it to be. There has been some recent minifigure guides released that will help categorize the thousand of minifigures in existence. We are working on a rating system, that members can rate each set from an investor's/collector's point of view, a mobile application and other goodies. As I stated in an earlier post, feel free to give us any idea that might improve the site.

  33. Yep, definitely would like this feature too. This without a doubt will be part of the site. It will have its own section. I have setup some stuff for it already, but it will be a huge task. Honestly, this is where we will probably ask for help from the community. The sets are one thing. We at least have a number to reference for the sets. For minifigures, people really don't use exact numbers. I know Bricklink has created a number system, but nothing is really a pure identifier for our system to search on, so it will take a lot of keyword filtering for specific sets as well as people looking through the listings to make sure its the right one. I have a few more features I want to add to the site, then we will move forward with the minifigures. It will be a feature that grows and gets more involved over time. It will happen though. Minifigures are too important to this community to not include it.

  34. Yes, minifigures as well as custom sets will be getting special attention on the site. Right now, I have been working on template enhancements to make the site easier to use, navigation, etc. There is also a big update coming to the Brickfolio feature include importing your collection from Brickset.com. I have also been working on the process that helps sort out all the ebay listings for each set. The time is setting up all the minifigures and new items that you want to list and then teach the system to identify that item. When there is a set number or name, its much easier to match up, but the hard part will be to identify all the different versions of minifigures from the different sets. So many Lego fans love the minifigures, it will definitely be part of the site.

  35. I think that the ability to search the market value of a set is a really neat tool you've developed and it's very interesting. I imagine it's a huge task to tackle, but do you ever envision the search engine to include individual minifigures also?

  37. If you think gold prices are dropping due to inflation fears.......you should not be investing in commodities--because that is completely wrong, and makes no sense. Also--- not to be mean...but the article you cite says the complete opposite of your theory. Reading comprehension is very important when investing. Ebb means to recede. Fears of inflation are lessening...as the fed is is pulling out of qe2 bond buying....hence the drop in gold prices.

  38. Good point. I am mean. Don't buy gold. Hedging and stops? Physical delivery? I doubt someone who can't comprehend the words to an article they post is serious about investing.....stick to legos. If you are serious about wanting to invest in metal...go to apmex and buy their brand ounce rounds of silver. If price drops to less than 20 per..back up the f-ing truck and go all in.

  39. Since you are posting about inflation...and obviously have no idea even what the word means....I think you are a total moron.and I am not sure how to break this to you gently but...... Carry on with your interesting discussion. With all due respect.....
