  1. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to submit an article or review, regardless of their motivations. Thanks, guys.

  2. By putting invest in inverted commas I take it your meaning is "will you treat the competition as an investment", time spent for possible profit or reward? If that's the reason someone is doing it then they aren't really 'investing' wisely. It takes many hours to properly research and write a decent article and for the hours you would need to spend you could earn way more at a minimum wage paying job as an example. You could even earn more by spending that time buying and selling Lego sets I suspect. I'll be writing a couple for the reason that I enjoy doing it, and I'd like to contribute to the content of this site. I love reading others articles so creating a few seems like decent payback in part. If I happen to pick up a prize then that is just a bonus, but there a plenty of others that have written way more than I ever could.

  4. This is such garbage. I really wish state regulators would crack down on Paypal. No legitimate financial institution can freeze a customer's assets for no good reason for 21 days. It's arbitrary and capricious. If fraud is really such a big issue then Paypal needs to change their business model and work more diligently with law enforcement. Somehow the banking system manages to operate without doing things like this on a daily basis to it's customers...

  8. For me and for you investors the sure Pure Gold Winner is the Batman Arkham Asylum Breakout, I would pick up as many as you can in the next year and a half. Don't wait til the last few months before its retired in 2015. Just check the one that came out in 2006, on Ebay, That set is still bringing in the big bucks. The set cost $80 then and $90 at Toys R Us, So The New set is way better, and should be a easy $400-500 set or more after retired.

  9. Pfffft, son. I am still rocking my two Dark Gray ones. Kickin' it OG in the separator game. Back on topic, this is awesome, and I better see a Bear set here soon or I just might go APE.

  10. Pretty cool robo-gorilla. Sidenote: anyone else sick of orange brick seperators? I have 7 of them, and only one green. I thought, new wave of sets, new color. But noooooo.

  13. There's 4 at a Walmart near me for $90.00 that I know will come down to second level clearance to something like 60.00, else I'd be tempted by this.

  14. I write because I enjoy it. If I didn't, there's no way I would ever get through an article. As Grolim said, it takes hours of thinking, writing, research and editing to complete just one article, but for me it's a way to help Ed and Jeff with the site, and it's a platform to present my work and thoughts on Lego Investing. Before everyone quickly dismisses Blackjack's poll question, the EC contest really is an investment in the site - the yield is a better, more vibrant website, not a prize.

  15. I guess I already did lol. To me it has actually been pretty fun to write the articles, as you really learn something while researching for it. As Grolim, I also wanted to add something of value to the site, and hopefully my articles will help even a a couple people to make better decisions or at least to learn something about themes they usually would not invest in.

  16. The same way you don't get all the Ninja Turtles or dwarves from The Hobbit in one set. Makes you spend more to complete it. And considering Lego is aimed at kids, they will be harassing their parents straight away for it! Smart marketing

  17. Yes, I just want you guys to start getting ready for the end of some sets that are retiring, and if you keep waiting and waiting for those %30-50% sales on the SSDS and the Tower Bridge and only get one or two, because you waited to the last minute, you will have the blues for a long time, It still haunts me that I sold my 10179 Falcons when they were only selling for $1000, I am not screwing up on the TB,SSDS,Death Stars,HH, Batman Asylum,Etc. And that unconfirmed memo only had those few items on it, I am sure there will be other things Retiring, "Lego don't like when it gets leaked about a new set." But they really hate it when sets retiring gets leaked, one reason is if say the Haunted House was retiring in Dec, If I worked for lego and knew that for sure I would use my 30% discount and go buy say 50 of them, and its 2 months a year they get 50%, Lego does not want all the employees to clean all the stores out, just think about it you could become pretty rich if you new for sure about the retiring dates and you worked at a Lego Store. We got 6 months til the end of the year, save your money so when some sales pop up get the sets. And don't forget about the 7965 Falcon, I haven't really seen a sale for months, they are retiring in Dec. Next time Tru has the BOGO sale and if the price is still $139.99 which is the real actual price, I am getting more, comes out to about $115 a piece, not to bad. Christmas of 2014 these will be $200 and up.Everybody wants a falcon and 99% of people will buy this one. So if I hear anything else i will post it. "The One we really want to no about is the Haunted House"

  18. 100% in agreement. The plane is pretty darn cool and the House is another solid entry. Treehouse is OK...for 2/3 the price, Olivia's Tree House seems the better deal to me as far as treehouses go.

  19. How about a minifig scale Slave I with Boba Fett;s cabin, passenger seating, and the prisoner cells.

  20. Maybe. It will be interesting to see if the new movies or Yoda Chronicles influences there direction at all. For me I'd like to see a really good UCS AT-AT and a full minifig scale Mos Eisley Cantina

  21. I agree with you about the Camper Van being a better investment than the Camel, BUT you also have to take into account that the old version of the Camel was nowhere as nice and large as the current one.

  22. What's so wierd about it? Simple answer is Mr. Freeze escaped earlier and that is why he is holding Aquaman hostage forcing Batman to don his Arctic suit.

  23. Amusingly enough, I went back and read the four issues of Frank Miller's Robocop vs. The Terminator comics a week or two ago just cause I felt like it. Crossover stories are pretty cool to begin with but those are awesome. It's trippy reading stuff like the technology behind Robocop lead to Cyberdyne's later robotics or about Robocop's consciousness was the very thing that gave SkyNet a mind of it's own! I may be confusing some parts from the two video games done on the short series though since games have been known to take some 'liberties'.

  24. Arkham Asylum. Big Box. Impressive piece count and minifigures. One of the best investment sets out there right now.

  26. AA hands down. If you only had $150 and your investment timeline was 10 years this is where I'd put my money.

  27. AA > Unimog > FB Arkham will do great due to the licensing and minifigure collect-ability. Big technic models are always solid performers The Fire Brigade will make profits but I just think the supply side of the equation will be so high with many people having this one stashed away.

  28. For these prices you guys are seeing them at, I would be buying every single one. We might see another Cap minifig if they decide to release any from the Winter Soldier movie, but even Iron Man 3 only had 3 sets and I'd suggest he would have a far greater marketing capability to kids than Cap. Whether they release any Thor 2 sets will probably be a good indication. Don't forget, they had to rename the initial movie Captain America: The First Avenger so a lot of people outside the US would even get an inkling of who he was. This may be the only set with Cap in it until the Avengers 2 line

  29. While I am skeptical of all Lego rumors there is no reason to doubt a person that is openly trying to help. Emazers has nothing to gain by trying to help which I think is exactly what he is doing. I wonder why he shares any of his inside information at all with potential competition. That being said, by now and regret later. With a Lego store receipt you can ride the rumor for a good amount of time and return it if the rumors turn out to be false, no harm done then.
