It wasn't today, this was actually back on Sunday. I ran the Houston Marathon in 3:16:28, and qualified for my first Boston Marathon at age 46. I'm still flying high, enjoying the break from running this week, and eating anything I can get my hands on.7 points

Chickens definitely have different personalities! We have 12 chickens and have named each one. My wife calls them her emotional support animals. She loves them so much. She holds them in her lap, lets them stand on her head or shoulders, and cuddles them all the time. As for bees, she wants to do that too, but we already have two dogs, a tarantula, a ball python, and the aforementioned 12 chickens. *facepalm*6 points

I keep bees, nothing big, we just keep 3 hives in our backyard. We also have backyard chickens.6 points

We give them to our neighbors...especially the ones next to us to quell any complaints about their clucking.3 points

Holy crap! That is an insane pace/time! Congratulations! My wife is an ultra-marathoner and would love to qualify for the Boston one day. She inspired me to run as well, but no long distances for me. My sweet spot is 2-4 miles. Longest I've ever run non-stop was a 10K but that was only once. I run for my heart, lungs, and general health.3 points

I wonder if there will be a rubber band mod to fix all the gaps. Truthfully it looks like a terrible building experience. Like the typewriter set I just don’t really see the purpose of it. I’d rather have an actual antique globe or typewriter for display (if I were into knick knacks).3 points

What other hobbies do people have? I love cars, just sold a 1978 Pontiac Trans am and picked up a 2002 Trans Am.2 points

Nice job from a fellow marathoner. You were cooking! To get a time like that takes a lot of work. I think people get desensitized to how much work it is to run a marathon at a pace like that when we only hear about what the pros do. What they are doing is absolutely insane so there should be no comparison between the two groups.2 points

ha, my wife does the same thing. She'll come home from work and say "I need to hold a chicken" then heads to the back yard. as for the bees, its only about 30 minutes a week during the spring / summer / fall. They really know what they are doing so you are just supplementing their care and watching out for things like hive beetles and mites. Outside of the chickens and bees, we've also got 4 cats.2 points

the chickens are awesome, we just got them in the summer, they have so much personality. We've done bees for 2 years and are moving into our third. The honey production has been nice. You can get really non aggressive bees these days that are pretty gentle to work with.2 points

Member “Alpinemaps” wants the Lego Globe and World Map. There may be a common thread here, if only I had Scooby Doos help.2 points

Ha, ha...Jealous? Let me tell you a cool little story bro. Back in 2012 when I came out of my dark ages and first found out about the UCS sets my thought was "Cool, but only if they could release an AT-AT. That's the one I really want." I purchased the 2014 system scale version when it was first released. Purchased the 2020 version upon release. Can you tell that I like AT-ATs? Then it happened: In 2021 Lego released the UCS model. The $800 price tag is ridiculous for a box of plastic bricks. I even mocked it here on the forums. But I work hard for my money and came upon a nice Christmas bonus. Then one Sunday morning my wife who has seen me gawking at the Lego online images (you even joked about "Grown men looking lovingly at Lego sets") said "If you want it then you can have it." No way would I have done the deed on my own. But that Sunday my wife drove me and the kids to the Lego store and she herself went up to the register and bought it for me. Now tell me with a straight face that you are as giddy as a ten year old on Christmas morning about getting an official Lego Typewriter or Globe model as I was about getting my UCS AT-AT. 😉2 points

This is the first set that my wife wouldn't mind having displayed in the living room year round. It reminds her of the globe her parent's own, which she would love to have when that time comes.2 points

I am trying to get back into drawing again (again). I became burnt and exhausted some years ago. Nothing professional, just something I always liked to do for myself really since I was little. Perhaps some figure studies. I don't know. Meanwhile I have gotten myself back into a routine of personal fitness if that could be considered a hobby. Down about eight pounds at least even though I already am around my targeted weight for height. Been feeling better about myself with more energy. And eating substantially less as well but more thirsty instead. Maybe not quite healthier eating though. Ha. That blue is freakin' sweet. Great ride of course but damn.2 points

I legit made $600 off all the coins plus the case. We're all in agreement about supply/demand driving prices either way. Problem with VIP gifts is that a majority of people do not know about them because they're hidden behind the "VIP Wall" and there's no advertisement in comparison to sets made for the public. The coins now fall into another bucket. Everyone knows about them. The whole set may be worth $200 right now, but in another year you'll be able to get $600. My best advice to BP'ers is to redeem the case. How did LEGO decide on how many cases to make? Are they thinking that they should make 1 case for every 5 coins made. Not everyone will have all 5, but there will be a good number of people who have a few coins and want to go on a "Quest" to complete the collection. Common denominator in the quest appears to be the case.1 point

My codes back? With the Santa Sleigh, I didn't risk it because I didn't want to have to call and draw any attention to my account.1 point

You're a better person than me, the most I run is to the fridge and the bathroom.1 point

I was a runner in my late 30s/early 40s, but only did half marathons. That beat my best half time by a good 15 minutes. Awesome job! Congrats on the qual!1 point

I'm sitting on a bunch of these that were $5 at Walmart. I should have paid attention to them in November. lol1 point

Congrats, that's awesome! I was fortunate to be able to run Boston a few years ago, and of all of the races I've run in my life, there is absolutely nothing that compares to that experience. Assuming you plan to run Boston you will have a blast!1 point

Is it Black Friday again so soon? $29 deal on 11011 is back again at WalMart. https://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Classic-Bricks-and-Animals-11011-Building-Set-1-500-Pieces/708206775?athbdg=L11001 point

You literally just built an $800 novelty dog-tank from a 35 year old kids movie 🤪. There are people out there who want this the same way that there is a market for the Typewriter and Ship-in-a-bottle. Relax, man, it's just Lego.1 point

Maybe I should post his entire T&C here. The bottom line is that he set the expectations. He set the expectation with both the “I pack perfectly” and by providing the tracking number. Keep in mind that I asked multiple times for tracking info, and I was met with radio silence. This was multiple messages over three weeks. A quick response with the proper tracking website (which he provided after I left the negative feedback), would have gone a long way. Even stringing me along until it was delivered would have helped.1 point

The seller should have communicated that, if it's the case. Not provide some BS tracking number. Also......if the pieces aren't there, it's your fault, not mine" lol1 point

Admittedly, this is a very great looking display piece. Looking forward to plenty of moc adaptations However, that $199 price point is kind of hurting a little more than other times. The review noted that 40% of the set piece count is just technic pins and elements. Granted, there's a trend towards having sets that use large bundles of 1x1 round studs to justify a higher piece count, and therefore a higher price point. But this is getting painful to watch.1 point

Hello everyone! I saw someone else's post about having some sets to sell from back in the summer, and figured I'd take the time to finally put together a list of what I'm looking to sell. I'm looking to consolidate some space in the Lego room. I've been very obsessive with box condition along the way, so unless otherwise noted, everything is NISB. This is my first pass at items I want to sell and I have more sets I haven't added to my list yet, but depending on how this works out, I may have some more down the pipeline. I made a Google Doc spreadsheet Lego Sets that lists the items I have. Since ya'll are pros at this, I figure it would be easier for you to look through the sets there. I will also paste the list into a post if that is easier for people. I would like to sell all in one go, so I figured I would see if anyone is interested and make an offer. I have a number I'm looking for in mind, but figured I'd test the waters out linking everyone to what's available. Located in the CNJ / NWNJ area. Thank you!!1 point

Received this one this morning. Guess because they're not a collector or reseller I don't have money invested and need to make a profit 🤷♂️ Or need money to purchase things on a Christmas list for my own family No harm in asking I suppose but still it's annoying. Btw they're asking for about 40% discount1 point
