This is going to be an oversimplification so do not take tax advice from some random guy on internet IRS want to see your total revenue and costs on Schedule C but ultimately they tax the profit (revenue - costs). Inventory & eBay fees are part of costs. I have been using the Turbotax Home & Business version. It is more expensive but it essentially splits the calculation between business and personal income (but combine everything to 1 package at the end). Plus, it outlines the specific deductions for each income stream. To me, that makes a big difference on how to calculate the taxes. I know some will disagree and say this is a waste of money, but I never give a **** what people say when the tool works for me If you like the way Turbotax asks for input you might want to check it out since it is more extensive version of the tool. Or try other similar tax software that goes beyond the standard wage based income.

I think it's the process of how they package those wheels, in fours or sixes, I forget. It's apparently cheaper to send you all four/six in one bag with current process and take a loss on two wheels than the cost of injecting a new bagging process just for this set. Similar to the Lego minifigure tools you sometimes get or the Lego Friends cookware, you get like 10 pieces and the instructions may only call for use of two or three. The cost benefit must be similar on those wheels for this set. Edit: aren't they three to a bag like the image and you just don't use the middle one? Two bags would yield you a two extra wheels.

Sold a Palace Cinema where the box had major dents and creases for $250 to a local repeat buyer. They bought sealed Brick Bank and Grand Emporium sets from me last month, finished them, and wanted another set to build. They've previously asked about my prices for Pet Shop and Detective's Office. Yes and it sucks. I've had to just recall several sets because I don't know what else to do. I've tried setting max and min prices all over the place. Didn't work. I've tried changing to FBM then back to FBA, didn't work. It happens on FBM items as well, but I have that inventory so I can just delete the listing or zero out inventory.

I went deep on these just due to the fact that the bootleggers didn't bother copying it because they were already selling a copy of 10129. Some people like to deny that bootlegs have impact on resale as "those who will buy bootlegs, wouldn't pay aftermarket prices anyways". But my concern wasn't regular bootleg buyers, it's been a worry that those who wouldn't buy a bootleg of a set at retail might be swayed from paying aftermarket prices. With no alternative available... if you want it, you pay big.

Yeah I got my profits and revenues all mixed up, and my later edit didn't make it any better. If you have $8k in profit on $4k in COGS, you have a 200% ROI, basically what you say. So in this case, with a 100% ROI, you would have $6k in COGS and $6k in profit. Still, to continue the point, if your total revenue is $12k (or $14k before fees), you will report the $14k, but then also report $2k in fees, and $6k in COGS, and you would only be taxed on the $6k that remains, which would be ~$1.5k (assuming 25% effective tax rate). If you are seeing $3.7k in taxes, then you haven't deducted your costs and are being taxed on the total revenue. It's either that you entered something wrong, or your tax software is calculating your taxes incorrectly.

I would love to use AWS, we just did a major migration there for my job and love using it. It is just costly. To set it up there the way I would want to do it would easily be 2-3x the cost. There is no temporary link to give at the moment, all of the work is on my local development setup. I honestly can't give a date at the moment. I am working on it as much as I can. This global issue we are having has my normal job in overdrive. There just hasn't been much time during the week to do extensive work. Most of my time on the development has been on the weekends.

Regardless, a few years ago Tabby was never buying City again and it's trash. Everyone else said you are ok with select sets. Selling City Prison Island for $300+ sure hurts the bottom line. Back on topic, this UCS Snowspeeder is a glorious vehicle.

I've had this idea for awhile now, and wanted to share it all with you. (Yes, I know there's already a thread speculating about a new carousel, but maybe we can put all of those types of threads into here?) There's been talk that, with the addition of the Ferris Wheel, to go along with the Fairground Mixer, that LEGO is starting a fairground theme. And they may very well be. But I'd like to suggest that there's already a pretty robust "secret" fairground theme going - you just have to know where to look. So, what I'd like to do share some ideas for either MOC'ing your own fairground, or bundling items together to help promote a fairground theme for your sales. 1. 10224 Fairground Mixer Of course, the first in the potentially new line of fairground pieces. 2. 10247 Ferris Wheel The 2015 release. This is what has us excited that there is an "official" fairground or "summer destination" theme (similar to the Winter Village?) 3. 6851 Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape Although it's just a building facade, the Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape offers, well, a funhouse that could be added to any fairground. Remove the Batman minifigs and the Joker markings, and this looks like any other funhouse at any other fairground. Or keep the Joker markings, and turn your fairground into the Gotham City Fairground. 4. 76035 Jokerland Jokerland, a 2015 entry, has all the hallmarks of a fairground, between the little duck Ferris Wheel, the bouncing ride, the dunk tank, and the high-wire show. Again, theme it without the Batman theme, and you'll be fine. Add the Batman theme, and you've got your Gotham City Fairgrounds really moving now. 5. 70804 Ice Cream Truck From the LEGO Movie, this little truck is perfect as a food truck. And who doesn't want ice cream when they go to the fair? 6. 10235 Winter Village Market Yes, it's Winter themed. But, you have a small carousel, three food stands, and carnival game. You would have to do some retheming/changing of colors a little bit to bring this into more of a summer carnival/fairground feel. 7. 40078 Hot Dog Stand Gotta have a hot dog stand at the fair. 8. 40108 Balloon Cart Gotta buy your balloons at the fair, too. 9. 30314 Go-Kart Racer Pick up a few of these little racers, and you can create a small go-kart track at the fair. Whether it's a kiddie ride version, or one for the adult, it's bound to be fun. Throw in a road base plate to give it even more of a racing feel. 10. 30303 The Joker Bumper Car Bumper cars. What fair doesn't have bumper cars? Extremely hard to find (as of June 2015), but if you can get this/build this (and even change the colors around to different models), you would do well to have this at your fair. (You're probably going to have to MOC a bumper car ride area though). The rest of these sets are small little polybags or small little sets that are pretty self-explanatory.
