Back in my day, if you wanted to get an SSD at RRP, you hit a *key* labeled F5. An actual key. Not some curly arrow on a screen. It had a spring and made a real click sound. And if you were one of the chosen ones, you could get a seller account on Amazon.com — in less time than it took to get that plastic prize — and try to sell it that day without providing any farcy-nootin’ “invoices”. And that‘s the way it was and WE LIKED IT!8 points

Oops! I just noticed that I had an order for 41 hogwarts great halls: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BKPKT2X I must have checked the inventory and didn't update the qty to 1 before submitting the order on my phone. Explains why they went POOF so fast! I don't need 41 so I'm going to cancel the order. From my experience, these usually show back up on Amazon immediately. So, to give everyone a chance, I'll cancel the order around 8:30 (in 7 minutes). Have your F5 trigger finger ready7 points

(Not sure if this should go here, or under covid trends ...) Just had my strongest week, dollar-wise, since the start of March, and it pushed me over a significant milestone, illustrated below. The Milestone: I've sold more in the past 10 weeks than any of my previous yearly totals. Quite shocking, really.6 points

You actually think Lego is not going to be able to produce a new, popular set like Pirates of Barracuda Bay until next year? They're just going to forget Christmas when they make all their money??? And please refrain from saying "the new normal". It's an idiotic phrase that was pushed on us as a form of compliance and acceptance.4 points

In a former life, I was a sales guy for a map production company. I’d sell their services. If it was a book publisher, with 200 maps for a text book that was a $20k order, I wouldn’t hear anything. The 1 map / $500 map person would constantly call and want all sorts of special requests. I hated dealing with them.1 point

Reminds me of Renee from bargain hunters. He always says "I can sell a rolex for 10k never hear from them, I sell a timex for 9.99 and I get a million questions, return requests, etc" Hence, I try to sell the higher end stuff, never offer free shipping. Don't want to deal w/ bottom feeders.1 point

Last time I ordered some of these I happened to notice that the shipping time frame is smaller the fewer you get. So I did a few orders with quantity two. Hoping this improves Target's notorious packaging as well. Didn't see anything as long as November though!1 point

cancelled... Well, got the email that they were cancelled, but haven't seen them pop back yet. Meanwhile, London back at Target it you need more. -- and POOF1 point

A stranded Kessel MF on Amzn for MSRP. Lets see how crappy the box is when/if it arrives1 point

FWIW just got off the phone w/ Lego rep re: backordered diner and hogwarts clock tower and she said w/ the factory opening last week that these two sets will be shipped w/n the 60 day window period. Maybe time to stop buying at MSRP on many of these sets? It was a good run.1 point

Thank you! I wonder, are people getting this one for a QFLL or long term? I calculate I've gotta get at least $550 to barely break even (buy in of $414 incl. tax)... and ebay prices FWIW are sitting around $450-$550 including shipping. Back in stock on Amazon too https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-6213412-Roller-Coaster-Building/dp/B07D69M13J1 point

Still, I'm surprised about the price increase. There was so much stock on Bricklink in December, but this set is really moving. Glad I didn't sell in January for € 130.1 point

Everyone bought this set, there's just too much stock right now. Without Covid this set would still be $170 in America. Comparing it to other sets it sells a lot faster, this will balance out the mass of sets. It'll thin out in a few months. I'd say wait if you're in Europe, sell if you're in the US.1 point

Yes I think so. It's taken them 4 months and we finally see a handful of stock hit Amazon in the middle of the night. LEGO will have more shipments but I think the "hoard" (after seeing the current prices) will DYSON them up before most reach end users. For example I have seen a sudden uptick of Stranger Things set on Ebay just 2 nights ago (following the Amazon restock) at the recent high prices...so I don;t know if that stock will hold up or the high prices...but that's just one popular set. Also, LEGO is still due to release all the new sets along w/ re-stocking all the "popular" ones..as well as all the unpopular ones (because LEGO will LEGO)...there is zero sign of a LEGO decision makers saying "Hmm it's clear everyone wants the Pirates Bay...lets prioritize that one over all the 100s of turds we are still producing"...sorry that's what your post implies...and I've never seen evidence of this. LEGO is behind by 2-3 months in their manufacturing depending on the factory...and they still seem to be releasing new sets (going instant OOS or not) and they still have a laundry list of more new sets to go... YOU tell me how they will make up the difference before Christmas?1 point

I ended up taking one off of a Potter train. It was stuck on there so poorly you could tell it was crooked from 10 ft away. So I grabbed the wife's hair dryer and gently warmed up the area for 10 or 20 seconds, picked a corner and started peeling, and then blew the hair dryer under the sticker as I slowly pulled it off. About halfway through it more or less starts falling off. I did this to three sets where the stickers were put on pretty crooked and I didn't rip a single one. I'd say it's safe and takes less than a minute. I'm not going to remove them from all of the sets, only the ones that are clearly crooked.1 point

Used Falling Water for $350. Used Town Hall for $600. Used Ninjago City for $350, was thinking should hold longer but decided to reinvest the money on other sets. Used Falling Water for $350. I get the same types of messages on eBay...."You know, the retail price for this set is $X". Yes, I know that; and I also know that this set retired several years ago, so you can no longer buy it for $X. And my sets are usually around the lower end in pricing too. Do these buyers actually think they're going to shame us into going lower...or are they really that clueless about supply and demand?1 point

Technically all the info is out there but so too was all the info about bad mortgages being packaged with triple A mortgages before the subprime crisis if you knew and had time to dig into the massive disclosure statements. The average person doesn’t follow websites or become a VIP or even get emailed offers from LEGO. They think about LEGO when little Timmy has a birthday and asks for something. Even parents or their kids who are big fans often don’t know the simplest tricks. For example, a friend of mine was proud that he had gotten all the Lego Batman movie sets for his son. I asked him if he had the Penguin rolls Royce. Deer in headlights. That set was only available at the LEGO store/ website for a short time. He did his buying at wal-mart or Toys R Us. I didn’t have the heart to go into all the various poly bag and other promos I was certain he didn’t have. Maybe one day he’ll discover he can’t live with his failure, and where will that bring him? Back to my Amazon store. Maybe I am a monster.1 point

As I was scalping UCS Falcon's when they were released, and making more than double on cash sales, I laughed all the way to the bank. You snooze, you lose. This market thrives on impatient people with money to piss away. If I didn't take their money someone else would.1 point

Sold my Haunted House for $390 on BL. Before selling, I got a handful of comments about how terrible of a person I am, and my price wasn't even the highest! I did truly consider keeping the set, but would hesitate to buy a pre-release for the sole purpose of flipping. If I was a wide-eyed innocent kid / family who got their LEGO catalog in the mail this week and saw this beauty that our family could build; only to find that it's been OOS for weeks while scalpers have jacked the price up almost 100% I would be pretty upset. IDK, I go back and forth but even if you find a buyer they are usually NOT happy in this situation which just goes against the spirit of LEGO, in my humble opinion. It's a whole different story after the set has seen its time on the fair market with ample opportunity for anyone who really wants to grab it at a fair price. As far as retired sets, that seems fair even if prices have climbed a lot. Those are going to established collectors who know what they're getting into and what it will cost; it's worth it to them. I am more than open to your opinions, of course. Just sharing my recent experience.1 point

I don't know if I would say "every" set is a good seller. Not a single Hidden Side set is backordered. Several are even on sale at this time and still not sold out. Hidden Side Train has been 25% off for over a week at Target and you can still buy qty of 10 for shipping (https://www.target.com/p/lego-hidden-side-ghost-train-express-70424-augmented-reality-ar-toy-train-building-kit-697pc/-/A-75667055). Hidden Side reminds me of a sports study done in the USA many years ago trying to determine why inner city kids typically do not play baseball or hockey. It was determined it was the cost of equipment. Inner city kids were more likely to play basketball or soccer because all you needed was one kid with a ball and a hoop or target (goal). Hidden Side sets are nice, but unless your kids have access to devices, they're not able to play with it to its fullest. For those parents (like myself) whose kids already spend too much time on electronics, LEGO was supposed to be the escape from electronics. I have to admit, the videos advertising the Hidden Side actually turn me off. A group of kids standing around a LEGO set playing electronic devices? Kids are already doing that. Why would I need to buy a slightly more expensive LEGO set sitting in the middle of them not being played with?1 point

the box is a huge part of this set with it's old school vibe. i would pretty bummed if mine arrived that way. that's just me, but i love a good crisp box.1 point
