Yup. You make a purchase like that once, realize what you're supporting, and then recognize and avoid those listings going forward.8 points

Welcome. The key to making money around here is buying the right sets...at the right price. You should never pay full retail price.7 points

Built one of many UCS Star Wars ships that I have in storage. Felt good to actually display it. Stand is from WickedBrick.6 points

You're getting to the root of the issue, but it all stems on how TLG wants to grow.4 points

Wooden it make sense to just buy a few of these just in case TLG discards this set and it's entire branch of possible new sets in the future?3 points

I keep the 3 I bought two years ago at the front of my storage so I can get to them quickly when the inevitable rush comes. Also, they serve as sentinel reminder to stay in my lane.2 points

I still have those sitting in storage. My kid didn't even want to open one on Christmas.2 points

I'm just concerned that support for this will dry out and it will go up in flames.2 points

So much for no more licensed brickheadz Let's see if LEGO can create better version of Minions than MegaBloks2 points

I also dismantle the winter village buildings by section each year, and store them in the small white gift boxes (https://www.target.com/p/2ct-china-gift-box-white-wondershop-8482/-/A-54632670) that Target clearances out at 90% off each year. This slipper box size is good for minifigs and polybags, too. For storing modulars, I find the large flip-top decorative type of storage boxes are just the right size https://www.michaels.com/large-christmas-cabin-deep-tab-paper-box-by-ashland/10602036.html so that the buildings don't need to be dismantled too much for storage. Michael's coupon magic can often get these down to below $5 each.2 points

I used to take them apart, but now I bag each section and label the bags together. It makes it much easier to put back every November.2 points

My last qty 99 purchases were for quite a few orders of 4515 back in 2008 for just over $4/set. I sold the last ones for $85 on Amazon in 2013. Haven't been able to figure out how to replicate that margin... ?2 points

I’m not a fan either. I like the Ghost Train much better. Something about this train just does not appeal to me.1 point
-
Guys, how do you like the train from Hidden Side? I like Hidden Side sets overall and have bought key sets from the theme. But the train doesn't appeal to me. It's simple, dark and the cabins are very short... Now it's available for £42 in GB, but I still doubt...1 point

We take apart and rebuild, that is the fun of lego. Each village looks different. Finding all my white parts for snow now.1 point

Agree. For example quick flipping is an option. I bought all the saturn v's I could the day they came out buying them at rrp and selling them for $230-240 a piece on ebay.1 point

Can’t say I disagree. I’ve done this a number of times. You just have to know what you’re looking for.1 point

Received my Amazon shipment of one Vader's Castle. First, it's raining and the box was soaked even though I answered the door within seconds of it being left there. The large Amazon box had the tape pulled away from one end and the box looked like someone had sat upon it. Ugh! However, upon opening it, I was pleasantly surprised - the LEGO set was still sealed inside it's own shipping carton, which was in perfect shape. Has anyone else received LEGO this way from Amazon? (A set inside the shipping carton, inside another amazon box)? Knowing how Amazon will many times slap a shipping label on a lone set, I made sure I selected "boxed by Amazon" or whatever the button is, but for good measure I selected "gift receipt". idk if that was why it was packaged this way or not, but I'm very pleased.1 point

You do realize that Lego retires sets that are incredibly popular all the time without any intent to reissue them, don't you?1 point
