Thought I would give some info on some trends i’ve been seeing in the store this past week, maybe help decide what sets to invest in: Lots of kids want dino sets. Almost every Dad that comes in makes a comment about wanting the Saturn V rocket. I have a used one on display and most people are amazed at the size of it. Wish I had kept more Wall-E. Only had 2 and they went quickly at $145 each. Really all of the ideas sets get positive comments from parents. Elves more popular than Friends. People have asked about Minecraft, a theme I only have very few sets of, I guess i’ll have to get more. Not much interest in Brickheadz. More interest in mixels than them. Most popular CMF is babysitter and banana guy. Also the skeleton trick-or-treater from monster series, but i’m sure that’s just seasonal. Other figs most popular are any random storm/clone trooper. As for used sets, many like the Indiana Jones sets, and mention they didn’t realize there were ever indy lego sets. I also had about 5 power miner sets that all sold really quickly on the first day. Without any Comic Con experience, I believe it's a lose-lose. You either deal with endless lines or some other ticket/lottery method of having a chance at buying them in person, or pay a small fortune to buy online. I'm fairly certain there's never a good time/price to buy, it's high from the start. I've personally written off any chance of owning CC exclusives, but I know completionists (that's a word, right?) exist among us.

it does beckon the question as to why not all sellers were asked for that .. something is weird here.

At least in my case, I'm dealing with thousands of dollars worth of inventory I need to quickly move with listings that aren't really selling that quickly. If someone is sitting on inventory, reads that a particular set number is involved, and also worries about being able to move it over the holidays - they may ship their stock into FBA and also dump the inventory - further bringing the price down. I'm not suggesting it's not selfish, but, this is a business. There's no rhyme or reason to which listings were chosen by Amazon to require docs except that they're consistently with the word "Toy" in the title. Not all listings with "Toy", but a portion of them. It's not just LEGO. I would guess the listings weren't originally created by Amazon (even if Amazon is still selling on them), based upon the title wording being inconsistent with other LEGO (or other brand) listings. It's also generally newer sets (roughly 2016 or newer). I have listings for thousands of sets, mostly a lot older than 2016, and didn't spot any older sets coming under scrutiny (and some of "Toy" in the title). i have couple item need the safty proof. 1 item is listed here. the price drop $0.25 per day with seller dumping 100+ to FBA while there is another item no listed here, the price keep it strong. I am able to sell my 10+ within a week. the one get targeted, i cannot even sell 1 in the past week even i match the lowest FBA. wait until the dust settle and then we can talk

I have about 70 listings. 25 were inactive at the time as they sold out in the past few weeks and I hadn't closed them in case of returns. I received notifications for 8 listings. 3 were Inactive and 5 were Active. In my experience, the one that was the most interesting was an an inactive set that Amazon still has stock of themselves. I was surprised they wanted safety info from me for a product they themselves currently sell.

This weekend I shipped one ASIN that was tagged with other sellers but not with me cause I never sold it before. Shipment has been in Receiving since yesterday. As of this morning 8:00 am no new messages from child safety on that ASIN. Nails biter I tell you.

Sorry, I should've clarified I was only looking at Amazon, but I usually expect people to pay less on eBay (the smart ones anyway): Definitely agree the buy-in makes all the difference.

10x's anything in this business is a rarity and should not be used as a template for other sets in a theme. Many times, those who invested early in a new theme will benefit, but there are also situations where a theme was a poor investment...early...late...all the time.

well, you are researching the wrong BH on ebay to be honest. the 10x return was only limited to some of the SDCC BH which you won't be able to buy from sah anyway. that's why I was asking where do you live in the first place. If you are not living close to SD, you have to factor in your flight ticket, accommodation etc and they will all eat up your profit. as for the regular BH, @CosmicSpeedhas said enough. just remember, for whatever theme you are going to invest, all it matters is your buy-in, that's it.

TJ Maxx/HomeGoods started stocking holiday toys and found some old TRU exclusives. $70 75191 Jedi Starfighters, $30 75175 A-Wings, and $8 Master Wu/Phasma/Finn Brickheadz.

Had a stall at a Lego market on the weekend (8:30 - 2:45) Table cost $35. Temperature 30+, no air con, only fans in a tin shed exhibition hall. Stoked about what I sold, but I was woefully prepared for how busy I would be. I had plans to make a note of what was sold and price, but after the first half hour, this was abandoned and I focused on completing sales and keeping the tables full of product. Went with a view to sell these larger sets: Palace Cinema, Mystery Mansion, Santa's Workshop, Winter Village Market, Deep Sea Exploration Vessel and 60004 Fire Station. Sold all but the Fire Station @ 2 x price paid. The Fire Station came home with me. Friends sets I had purchased from Woollies on boxing day (Heartlake Gift Delivery & Heartlake Surf Shop) and Aldi Friends book and polybag sets - all sold City sets - only sold a few small cars, eg Rally Cars, Monster Trucks Batboat Harbour, 2015 Star Wars Advent Calendars and some Rogue One Buildables - gone Ninjago - did not sell one set or polybag - I sell these all the time on eBay - go figure Farewelled books with minifigs, old baseplates My daughter and I had rebuilt a lot of sets from bulk buys over the past month and we sold 20 - 30 rebuilt sets (stocktake later will give final figures) We sold 50+ polybags - no idea yet what was sold have to trust in the fact everything had a price sticker and was priced with a least a 75% markup on purchase price. Next weekend I'll have to do a full stock-take and put everything away properly, as when we got home and shoved everything back into the garage, we just collapsed into the pool. If I was to do this again: Get some sort of display carousels or shelving for elevation on table. I wouldn't attempt to do this without help. Miss 11 was invaluable and I was very impressed with her Maths skills and ability to make change - didn't accept a $50 without showing me first. Bring plenty of water and deodorant. Kids know Lego - I listened to plenty of kids tell their parents what was rare and what wasn't (Gladdens the heart). Source more discounted Friends and Elves sets. My table got pretty messy - I would try to make it more visually appealing - quite a few people don't like touching and looking through items. Ignore ignorant people - the number who said Advent calendars are $35 at Big W...

got this great lot for $200 today. the lady was selling her 17 yr old sons collection because “he doesn’t do lego anymore”. the architecture sets were listed by name in the ad, and it also said “lego biplane” and “lego train” it was hard to see in the pic, but i zoomed in and saw what appeared to be an emerald night, and i was right. she even gave me the tote!

I have a buddy that is also into Lego investing/collecting. We have a saying that we use for our best hauls. "Cake taker". As in it "takes the cake", as in the best deal one of us ever found. There's been some good ones in the past: my ucs r2 I found for $7, a green grocer I got in a lot for $60... but today's is the new "cake taker". Last night I saw on fb a lot for $60. First pic showed a three drawer tote filled with random pieces and chunks, second pic showed a large tote with what was clear to me to be a cafe corner. The listing had only been up for less than an hour so I messaged the seller, and we set up a meeting for this morning. Thankfully after we talked, she marked it as sold so nobody tried to snipe it from me. So I show up this morning, I hand over the $60, and I start carrying over the tote with the cc to my truck. I glance down and see a green grocer under the cafe! With half a pet shop attached to it! I load it all up and drive home to check it all out. Cc and gg appear to be complete. I didn't find the other half of the pet shop, but it may just be fully taken apart in the bins. Lots of other neat stuff including a lot of parts (hopefully complete)to the town plan set, a large Vikings set, city garage and firehouse. And to top it all off, if you look above this post, you'll see last week I got a lot with a black pearl. That black pearl was complete, except for one piece...the skull flag in top. Well by some crazy coincidence I found that flag (and a jack sparrow fig) in today's lot! No instructions in this lot, as dusty as all get out, but I'm not complaining.

Picked up a great lot today from Facebook marketplace. $100 for everything. Black pearl, western stuff, Atlantis stuff... lots of baseplates. Some instructions. I enjoy sorting this kind of lot and figuring out what goes to what set.
