  1. Anyone else built this yet? This was a rare day 1 purchase for me. I just finished it last night - took about a week to build it and savor it a bit. My 10 year old son was able to negotiate building every third bag (there are 37 bags total), so when he was not building he was in my office every 5 minutes checking on my progress. As a Potter fan I think it's just a spectacular set and design. I feel like it will hold up as quite iconic on future top-10 lists. It has a great mix of small scenes/locations fans of the book will cherish, a number of clever building techniques and new pieces, and overall a lack of repetitive sections which kept it feeling fresh to me. Anyway I was quite glad I bought it and actually built it vs. keeping in the box like most of my collection. Is it completely perfect? No. Are there a lot of stickers? Yes. All things considered though I think they pulled off an awesome winner given the size, piece count, price combo.

  3. My son's 14th B-Day is Friday and he is getting one of these! I can't wait for him to tear into it!! We've already started prepping the spot for it, but we just tell him we're cleaning and reorganizing. Excited!!

  5. I made a $650 sale via Bricklink that included my only two Piggy Pirate Ships (163% gain), all four Riddler Riddle Racers (460% gain), and my only three Nexo sets, Jestro's Volcano Lair (59% gain). What makes this sale more notable is that it pushed my "cash on hand" total to over $10,000 for the first time ever (combined PayPal and actual cash). I'm stacked on cash for the next round of Walmart price drops, but that isn't coming........ Not sure how my $10k stacks up against others in this hobby (and it doesn't matter), but I feel like that's a good landmark and makes me feel like I'm coming out ahead on this. Someday I might even tell my wife how much cash on hand there is! Knowing that within 24 hours of that announcement, there will be someone at the house generating a quote for new floors on the main level.

  6. Both are also remakes. While better than their predecessors, remakes nevertheless. I also think folks are kinda tired of Star Wars after the last 2 films. There is also probably some Lego Star Wars fatigue sprinkled in there. If truly retired, I will 100% be a decent set to own. Unfort, if it gets too pricey, some prospective buyers will end up a fake one or the original so it puts a ceiling on the price.

  7. We will find out. The UCS Red 5 X-Wing was scheduled for retirement until people got wind it was retiring and then it came back into production. Listen, if many big time collectors already have the original versions, why rush out and get these duplicates? The new versions are just not that much better IMO. I still don't have either the new Snowspeeder or B-Wing because I have the originals sitting in my office.

  8. There must be a mistake!!!! I still would prefer no warnings and just disappeared though. Now watch the madness from all the last minute buyers to snap this set up. Then LEGO will move the retire soon tag back to Slave 1

  15. I still have that zeppelin. It was neat how you could twist the rudder off and use the thing as storage since the blimp was hollow. Each of the stickers peeled off decades ago though. Haha. I remember how much LEGO really promoted their club membership back then for the longest on the outside of sets when every set had (& still do I think) the mail-in card.

  18. Just an observation. For people who believe in bump codes ( @teamhappyfrog & @TedNFlitsBricks etc), this would be the best series to use that knowledge to tell which puppy/kitty is in the bag.

  19. 10262 - James Bond Aston Martin DB5 The perceived flaws of this release have been debated at length, but I've remained interested, just waiting for a decent price for personal build. LEGO Shop at Home would have been $158.99 shipped. Thanks to the eBay coupon today I have one coming to my house for $135.15 (15% off $159 free ship). I haven't seen this anywhere but Lego store or LEGO Shop at Home so this seemed like my best opportunity.

  20. So after hearing about the upcoming eBay promotion I saw a UCS Falcon listed with best offer. Sent offer of $500, was accepted. Used the promo code to pay this morning. Seller feedback checks out. Seller communication checks out. So once again, we roll the dice and we shall see. I flipped 3 of these early on and was waiting on the right price for myself. Will crack the seals when it arrives and start counting bags just to be sure all checks out.

  21. Can’t see it myself. Too much money to be made off randoms selling their junk , with hardly any effort from eBay themselves.

  23. I had a nice little score on my local Craig's this morning. I bought a 10177 Boeing 787 Dreamliner for $50. The box is beat to hell, and it appears I'm missing one instruction book, but most of the bags are still sealed and the sticker sheet is still intact. I should be able to flip this for at least $200-$250 on eBay.
