  1. They were able to keep the pics a secret because every time the pics leaked people saw that box art and said no way this is legit.

  4. Curious who LEGO think is the target market for this set. It does not look like "display on your CEO's desk" type of set. It is basically just a LEGO diorama. Maybe it needs some kind of dome over it to make it looks like Bespin?? It has several play features, but for $350, is it really for kids? How many young kids nowadays appreaciate ESB and actually want to buy a set based on Bespin? Err, how many kids actually know what Bespin is??? https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Betrayal-at-Cloud-City-75222

  5. Well, at least they did an A1 job keeping it under wraps prior to the reveal.

  6. Completely and utterly underwhelming, disappointing and the box art is a joke. It looks like made by 5yr old MOC rather than Ultimate Collector Series build. It looks like fan made build, it lacks the details and looks half arsed to me. Even the box graphic design looks terrible which they usualy nailed in that department. I predict Assault on Hoth success all over again.

  7. I would much rather see play-sets like the UCS Sandcrawler. Lots of playability for kids, but is still serves as an accurate model that pleases adults and collectors.

  9. I'm thinking they should have just done a UCS Cantina and called it a day.

  10. 8 bags done only 28 more to go .. rock formations and kids “helping” slowed me down but it has been a fun so far . Wife is really impressed with this one .

  11. Interesting. I don't have any UCS, so its hard to pass judgement, but this is rather lacking. They should have at least included some sort of stand elevating the display from ground level, it is called Cloud City after all.

  14. Bring this back- First my weekend Score- Local Estate Sale showed this in their listing I walk into the sale and figure a few towers of bulk sorted- then I see this on the floor I asked the sale worker how much for everything, bundle deal. Needless to say their number was lower then mine. So I called for backup, got another van and got it all, except one plane I let some kid buy. There is Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, Grand Carousel, other modulars. Some custom MOCs, entire bin of baseplates. I only am 6 boxes in.

  15. It's going to be difficult to make a non-ship UCS level set that pleases everyone. This is fine for a big playset. Won't be worth investing in, not nice enough to display, but fun for kids who have rich parents.

  16. You aren’t alone. I’m very surprised LEGO hasn’t explored this yet. They could design a modular set with a solid core/base and sell future expansion packs/sets to enhance the build. But maybe Jabba/ Rancor spoiled that idea? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. Their QA department definitely has to implement a review stage called "Now, let's all take a step back and look at the whole thing as if we 'd never seen it before - what does eveybody think?".

  21. Sad, just sad. Looks like a floor taken from the Death Star, very limited display ability, too expensive for what you get. I’m a big Star Wars fan and an AFOL, but this totally falls short of the mark for me... now I see WHY they kept it a secret so well. [emoji19] Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum

  24. I agree. They likely listened to fans about calling AoH a UCS set so came up with a new name for basically the same thing. Kids will love the set. I display my sets and this one isn't really a display set, it is more of a play set which kids will love......if their parents buy it. I personally think this will not do well. Adults don't like it and it is too expensive for parents.

  25. This at least has some scenes that would never make it into one of those $30-$80 playsets. I don't love it, but I don't hate it, either. My complaint gets at what eliminator said that, unlike DS, this doesn't have a recognizable Cloud City shape good for display, which makes the choice to do a roughly circular or octagonal set strange. The landing pad quadrant takes up a lot of space and the tradeoff seems to be that other interior rooms end up too small. If the quadrants are modular, maybe people can MOC bigger interiors. It would have been better stacked with things happening on different levels. The Luke/Vader "I am your father" scene on the same level as where Luke was swinging at flying stuff and flew out the window doesn't work for me.
