Rogue one finally done. Managed to squeeze in a few days before Easter break.15 points

March 30, 2018. This is a date that will forever be remembered. I can get a little emotional at times. As an adult, there are a few instances when I've shed a tear. I cried when my son was born. I cried again a year later when my daughter was born. I cried tears of joy when my beloved Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl 31 after three decades of mediocrity, and again when they won Super Bowl 45. The last time I cried was two years ago this April when my Mom passed away. March 30, 2018. Today is another day that I've sobbed like a baby. Upon waking up for work, I checked my phone like I always do. Waiting for me was a PayPal notification. A large one. I checked my Bricklink account, and it appears that some blessed soul has decided that they needed some Steam Rollers in their life. Yes, some Steam Rollers. All of them. 27 to be exact. Gone. Purchased by an unknown person. A risk taker. A gambler. A guardian angel, perhaps? I began this saga with over 50 of those Steam Rollers. I'd sell one here, one there through multiple platforms, slowly chipping away at that number. I whittled it down to 27. Now I have 0. They are gone. The purchase price was just a shade over $1k. I'll make a few bucks on each one after the usual fees and shipping, but that's not the point in this circumstance. The nightmare is finally over. March 30, 2018 is my Independance Day.8 points

It must rank up there as the poorest set to be given the mantle of a UCS set but despite it also being the most expensive set in my collection on a price per piece basis, at over £1 per piece, I had to have it. Only five more to go and then my Star Wars UCS collection is complete.4 points

Walmart Customer Service MANAGER Raveonne: "Can I help you?" Me (Handing her the mouse, USB insert, and receipt): "I'm hoping I can return this. I don't have the packaging, but it just doesn't work right at all." Raveonne (Turning the mouse over multiple times like it's the first time she's ever seen one of these fantastic pieces of technology and then taking the USB insert): "This goes with it?" Me: "Yeah" Raveonne: "Do you have the packaging for it?" Me: "No, I don't have the packaging." Raveonne (Still gazing in wonder at the dysfunctional technology bestowed upon her): "Huh. Well, if you can go find the number..." Raveonne: "This is the receipt for it?" Me "Yes, that's it." Raveonne: "Is there a reason you are returning it?" Me: "Like I said, it doesn't work, it's all messed up..." Raveonne: "Huh" (She turns it over a couple more times). From here on she semi-competently scans the receipt, asks me if I have the Visa I used to pay, enters the item number for the return, says "that's weird, it don't take it" twice (once before and once after slowly, methodically reciting each number out loud as she emphatically presses the corresponding key), then mysteriously tells me "Ready for your card" and processes the refund, takes a piece of clear packing tape and completely mauls it while trying to tape the mouse, USB insert, and receipt together, and after laying it in a heaping sticky pile, finishes with "Have a wonderful day." I'm so confused, I don't know whether to be upset at her and her employer for the complete lack of listening skill displayed by someone in this position, impressed and happy that my return was accepted without original packaging, dismayed at the void of common sense within this individual, or mad at myself for keeping it in my brain this long.3 points

We went there the first time we drove out for me to meet my [now] wife's family. Amazing to see every generation in each hangar! My favorite point was taking the bus over to the R&D/Presidential hangar. So many amazing planes. You can see where they had to had to cut the rear wall of SAM 26000 in order to fit (exciter1 spoiler) Kennedy's casket into the main cabin, rather than placing in the cargo hold.2 points

Hahah Guys you can't even imagine the shitstorm that is going on in Poland because of this leak. Friend of mine is working in that store, and oh my god... ZEUS is casting thunders from the sky. It's not a brand store but Franchise store so they are covered with different T&C as a partnership. Person who placed this on the shelf replaced senior associate who went to his hometown beacuase of Easter. Replacement person read the note left for here to "supply shelves with Collector Series sets Star Wars" so she followed the instruction from A to Z. LEGO completely went furious, called on red line owner of the store and right now there is an absolutely Armageddon I've reached a guy who saw this in person and he was about to buy it because 2 sets were sold that day. He went to groceries and wanted to come back to get this set but it was pulled from the shelf already. Poland Stronk! Imagine for how much this set could go right now on ebay. Price could probably ashame Signed boxes of Millennium Falcon. some say on reddit that's an obvious fake etc. but it's not. It's legit.1 point

Awesome news and post. I love that you've always been able to joke about it. I'm both happy for you and yet feeling left behind. I only bought 16 or so, probably the most I bought of any set thinking they were really cool and sure to be winners. Seeing them not shoot up in value as expected, I always justified it by saying, "well, at least I'm not the one stuck with XX of them!" Now you've passed on the torch of being "that guy."1 point

“I’m on my way. Stupid traffic. I’ll get there as soon as I can.” “Dang it. I got pulled over for speeding. Will be 10 min late. “ “Now I got a flat tire. “ “Man, karma’s biting me in the arse. See you soon.” “Did you leave? Why didn’t you wait for me? I lowered my price for you. Wanted to have good karma and all, now you screwed me over. Do you have a soul?!”1 point

U all are over thinking i . Just arrange a meeting 30 minute from his house for a more “reasonable” price . 2 minutes from “arrival” let them know you running late . Block account , drink beer .1 point

I would reply with "What do you know about Karma? I lost my job last month, my mother died unexpectedly over Christmas and my wife is terminally ill. I needed a break. Think before you judge. To make up for your brash statements you can buy my Assembly Square for my asking price plus $100 in emotional damages.".1 point

UPDATE! So I received a call from my insurance company the other day. The police arrested a guy for breaking & entering, and when they searched his property, they found "a lot of Lego sets". One detective was having lunch with my detective and casually mentioned the find, and he remembered my case from 2016 and they interrogated the suspect. He totally admitted meeting me on Craigslist, bought a few sets from me, and then came back to my warehouse to commit the robbery. He was able to back a cargo truck up to the loading door and spend several hours loading up. The replacement value at the time was $39k. I am so relieved they caught the guy, and now I'm waiting to hear from the police so I can go see what is left from the theft (they say there is A LOT). Next step will be to strike a deal with the insurance company to purchase everything back (at a salvage rate of course). They are willing to give me the right of refusal so I can recover all or some of it. I'll update once I see what is left and what we can work out. Just a reminder to everyone who can learn from my ignorance & innocence: never let anyone into the inner sanctum. Since the theft, we treat the warehouse like Willy Wonka's factory : no comes in, no one goes out. We even have a visual barrier separating the storeroom area from being seen by UPS and FedEx drivers. As far as Craigslist goes, I've only tried to sell a handful of larger items (new MF for example) with the stipulation that the transaction takes place at the local police department, and I haven't had a taker yet.1 point

I don't see why TRU has a problem with this guy. He learned this technique from them. Check the TRU warehouses, they have millions of dollars of products they haven't paid for either.1 point

Here is the short. There are always scumbags at the top and bottom. Always taking advantage of a system. Name them, who cares? In my experience advising people I have always seen expansion which includes new employees and their own opportunity when business owners reduce expenses, which in 100% of the cases taxes is the largest expense. Just today I met with a doctor and in reducing his taxes 60% we are, putting money in his employees pocket, that's real. That being said, I am a minority in the USA, ethnically speaking. I worked from 10 years old to today, mowing lawns, delivering pizza to advising millionaire. All the cards were stacked against me and my brothers. Never once did I think because someone has more, they owe me money or other benefits. Single mom making 7.25 an hour. I worked full time through, college as did my brothers, high school too. No handouts. My parents gave me 500 for college, thats it, that's all they had. The USA is about opportunity. I worked hard, I am a "minority", I almost failed three times. I wanted more for me and my family. I worked hard, harder than many. I am in my late thirties, I own a business, I employ people, I am upper middle class. No one gave me anything. In this country you can be what you want to be, if you want to work. Never once did I think that I was owed "things" because I was poor. I earned it! Entitlement is a manufactured belief. Both of my brothers also own their own businesses, architecture and graphic design. Poor, very poor, as I was doesn't make me entitled to take other people success. The USA is a remarkable place to call home, where I could be what I wanted to be, not defined by my race or my socioeconomic class! There are always scumbags.1 point

Here is a 6 month update for those that were curious. The ship has weathered quite nicely. The only thing I'm worried about is the sails, they look great now, but I don't know about long term. It has not been a maintenance nightmare, as a matter of fact, our cleaner fish and snails do an excellent job!! We get more comments on this display than any of our other displays....people love it!!! I'll post a one year update just for sh*ts and giggles.1 point
