Here is a 6 month update for those that were curious. The ship has weathered quite nicely. The only thing I'm worried about is the sails, they look great now, but I don't know about long term. It has not been a maintenance nightmare, as a matter of fact, our cleaner fish and snails do an excellent job!! We get more comments on this display than any of our other displays....people love it!!! I'll post a one year update just for sh*ts and giggles.4 points

The classic Castle theme is the same as your childhood's favourite chocolate. You have fond memories, but when you try it again as an adult, you recognise that it is just industrial waste, and don't want it again. Translating this analogy to LEGO, the classic Castle/Pirates/Space themes are very outdated by today's standards, and people realise this quite quickly. Time has moved on, and what was considered great back then is lacklustre now. What people really want is going back in time and relive memories, but exactly the purchase of these sets makes them realise that it will not happen, it is a fool's hope, and just makes them feel old. To cope with growing up, people are looking for fresh things. No wonder LEGO is at its best when it feels fresh, that is what people really want.1 point

Intertoys is often selling LEGO with a mark-up to RRP. Compare from the picture: Detective's Office at €163,99 (RRP: €159,99) Brick Bank at €183,99 (RRP: €169,99) VW T1 Van at €109,99 (RRP: €99,99) Intertoys is the only nation-wide toy-store in The Netherlands, so they have a monopoly there. Of course there are some local toy stores selling LEGO as well, but they are limited to a regional presence at most. If you're not living in that region you're out of luck and limited to the ubiquitous Intertoys...1 point

Just for reference, here is the link to the original IDEAS proposal from 2015, which had 800 pieces. Knowing how TLG like to put cheese slopes and 1x1´s everywhere, I estimate a lot more pieces for a 10 inch high version https://ideas.lego.com/projects/0fb496b8-e406-421f-b9f0-bba4f476fbce1 point

Nothing has been confirmed about the 2020 movie. I'd like to see something set in between the ROTJ and TFA. Once episode 9 is done, something to fill in the years after Jedi. I'll go see the Han Solo movie, but it would be nice to see movies where they introduce new characters that have some small tie in to the Star Wars universe as we know it.1 point
