Was in local LEGO store today due to double VIP pts for Black Card holders. Was surprised to see an Assault on Hoth (last one in stock) still listed at $175. For double VIP pts, 60th anniversary set and 30% off, I'll do that. Imagine my surprise when it actually rang up for $140... score!

Found a redesign on reddit I like a bit.

The classic Castle theme is the same as your childhood's favourite chocolate. You have fond memories, but when you try it again as an adult, you recognise that it is just industrial waste, and don't want it again. Translating this analogy to LEGO, the classic Castle/Pirates/Space themes are very outdated by today's standards, and people realise this quite quickly. Time has moved on, and what was considered great back then is lacklustre now. What people really want is going back in time and relive memories, but exactly the purchase of these sets makes them realise that it will not happen, it is a fool's hope, and just makes them feel old. To cope with growing up, people are looking for fresh things. No wonder LEGO is at its best when it feels fresh, that is what people really want.

Thanks to whoever totally smooshed this box and made it possible for me to buy a $120 set for $30.

So if we post the photo it will be removed but if we make a thread about it it stays? (Noted) lol

The issue with Star Wars was described quite well. However there is no big issue with "rehashing" the sets. I was young in 90s, I remember those castles and pirate ships, which were repeating themseves quite often, looking not the same, but really close (so you can say it was like space ships from star wars). However, what really should lego do, is to stop trying to cowing money from **** ideas. You do not have to release "new" x-wing every year. Just do your f-ing homework, release some proper one in price range aroun 150-200USD, ith some "creator 3v1" sou you have a lot of extra pieces to rebuild it to other versions and keep it on shelves. For 2-3 years. And produce high quality low amount of sets instead of billion sets noone cares about. They just forgot their origins. Sets nowdays are quite boring and expensive. I have high expectations from this years Harry Potter sets, I hope they do not fail me.

Did a small carpentry job for friends in-laws as a favor. They gave me $150 Lego gc which I used on a ninjago city with 60yrs set a couple days ago. Today I went to the Lego store to get a sat v for me and the 2 seasonal brickheadz for my kids Easter baskets and another 60yrs set. Used $20 in vip points.

Intertoys is often selling LEGO with a mark-up to RRP. Compare from the picture: Detective's Office at €163,99 (RRP: €159,99) Brick Bank at €183,99 (RRP: €169,99) VW T1 Van at €109,99 (RRP: €99,99) Intertoys is the only nation-wide toy-store in The Netherlands, so they have a monopoly there. Of course there are some local toy stores selling LEGO as well, but they are limited to a regional presence at most. If you're not living in that region you're out of luck and limited to the ubiquitous Intertoys...

sold a few elves dragon cases for $25 which were on $7.50 LEGO Shop at Home permasale for 5 months. i ended up buying 49 from LEGO Shop at Home without getting banned. best part is only 2 sellers of the SKU on amazon. now hopefully the nexo knights play mat will take off

OMG, I just build the Valentine's Bee brickheadz - my first. It's so cute, and the bunny looks even cuter. I'm hooked, to a degree. I'll buy 2 or 3 of each, if I like them - one for me, one to sell. I find it... perplexing, knowing there are bricks in the center that we can't see, that aren't really doing anything, and are unusual colors... I think I'm going to have to do an alt build of some sort... I also love the new flowers - this is the first time I've had my hands on them.

Last time I checked, I could login to PayPal account and withdraw any payment as soon as the purchase was made. Unless this new system allows me to access my money via thoughts, I do not see how this will be simpler than what we have now

£75 before were Amazon Prime only offers. The major difference now is that it is (was) not Prime exclusive. And compared to Dutch RRP (€169,99) this is 50% off RRP (excluding additional shipping fee). I know it's likely that DB could well get a higher discount later this year. But it might also be another Prime only offer. Or the discount may pass by so fast I may miss it entirely. I don't mind building up a small stash of this terrific set already.

Yes, it has been 75 quid multiple times now on Amazon and it´s only 33% off UK RRP. I am sure you will get better deals with no buying limits closer to EOL. The Amazon offer is better for small time Euro resellers who have much higher RRP´s. If I was in the UK, I´d still want 40-50% off UK RRP to be safe.

The most interesting thing is the back of the set Blue`s Helicopter Pursuit. There is a printed overview of all dinosaurs and in which set they are included. "Collect them all...and build your own hybrid" is the heading. Is there a possibility that customers have to purchase all sets to build some kind of kick ass dinosaur? That would be very interesting regarding the investment aspect.

The moc and the diner itself look like friends sets. The ugliest modular by a wide margin.

I don’t know enough about minecraft to really comment, but disagree on the Ninjago temple I think that has both AFOL and kid appeal, with both display and play value, as well as not having much to complete with it right now. (Although the cave set will likely complete for the kids attention as well as being cheaper).

Get an iphone or a cheap video camera. I videotape every single box I pack. About 2-3 years ago, a guy I shipped a $15,000 baseball card to (Eddie Mathews 1952 Topps, PSA 7) said I sent him a $5 card. I met with the police and provided the postmaster general with a copy of the video. Guess who is in jail or heavily fined for trying to commit mail fraud? That guy. Guess who saved $15,000 by taking a 2 minute video with his Canon Pure Shot camera? This guy.
