The black card worked wonders for me. I was in line at the local coffee shop and I reached in my wallet and picked up my LEGO card by mistake. A few young ladies saw me whip out a black card and instantly their interest me tripled. I could feel their gazes and hear them licking their lips at the thought. Then my thumb moved and they spotted the Millennium Falcon, and not the Mastercard logo. Not only did their interest drop, but it fell in half compared to the original interest level. My wife had quite the laugh.6 points

Thanks for the input. I've decided, after reading 30 pages of almost all glowing feedback (plus one negative from over a year ago from someone who claims they didn't get their item), to send the guy a message via EBay checking if he really wanted mine when there are 20+ listing at half price. I mentioned that I appreciated a quick response, and that lack of response meant I would cancel the order. Hopefully I get a "oh shoot, sorry" response and all is well. If not, I cancel. EDIT: Phew, glad I did this: "Yes I did not authorize or purchase this. Please cancel it and I will get in contact with eBay". Looks like he got hacked.3 points

starting over business relationships that have been built the last 19+ years is the most aggravating thing to me. Everything was centralized, then they wanted to spin off, now they want to dump all together. Confusing when you built the brand names and they have been synonymous within each other for the last nearly 2 decades. Paypal had some rough customer service spurts during the middle years but they have been rock solid for me the past 5-7 years as far as customer support and services offered for large accounts goes. Be interesting to see what comes of this after it is all unveiled but I am not optimistic.3 points

Did a small carpentry job for friends in-laws as a favor. They gave me $150 Lego gc which I used on a ninjago city with 60yrs set a couple days ago. Today I went to the Lego store to get a sat v for me and the 2 seasonal brickheadz for my kids Easter baskets and another 60yrs set. Used $20 in vip points.2 points

Just for reference, here is the link to the original IDEAS proposal from 2015, which had 800 pieces. Knowing how TLG like to put cheese slopes and 1x1´s everywhere, I estimate a lot more pieces for a 10 inch high version https://ideas.lego.com/projects/0fb496b8-e406-421f-b9f0-bba4f476fbce2 points

Very few people looked at lego sets as a speculative investment play when GG retired (in 2010 (!)), which is why few copies were saved and prices for it are high now---demand is reasonable, but supply is low. GG also sat for a long time at 20% off on the shop-at-home website in Oct of that year, showing that demand was moderate for it, even then. 2018 might as well be a different world: more copies of modulars are being produced, many are being horded, and they don't last for weeks on sale. Depending on your time line and buy-in price, any set can successfully appreciate. I think the "buy it, forget about it, then cash it in" days for modulars are long past, however. Tread cautiously.2 points

I've decided to make a pause and ignore my crypto holdings for the month of February. Will look at the rates again after my birthday in March. Hopefully it will be on a more sunny side by then.2 points

Anybody who is reading this thread and disappointed with the offer needs to call LEGO customer service today and let them know we expected better. We were early adopters of the biggest and most expensive set ever and were promised great value, and we’re getting peanuts. I think the worst thing about the double VIP points promo is that there’s not even really anything that great out in the Star Wars theme right now. I wouldn’t even know what to buy, everything is kind of lame. Anybody have any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum2 points

I guess Ebay want to improve the experience for hackers as now they will have access to funds as well as ebay accounts under the same roof.2 points

Just finished mine, and it's breathtaking. (27inch screen just behind for straight size comparison) I know it's an offtopic but regarding the Star Wars promo. I talked today to CS girl late afternoon and those people have really bad time right now because people on the executive positions made such stupid mistake with launching completely unprepared campaign (Black VIP cards) from top to the bottom. Majority of those folks there are in their early 20ties and whole day they are facing backlash because of Black VIP card fiasco and the fact that everyone in store will be able to get the 2x VIP for SW not just only the Black Card owners. So the story about exclusivity of owning the Black Card can rest between books on the top shelf atm. I feel genuinely sorry for those people.1 point

One of the reasons for rejection on Ideas site is if a project is already underway. So always hard to know which came first.1 point

The calm speaks the truth.. As long as people are content with and justify mediocracy that's all they will continue to get.1 point

To be clear, I just wanted to know what other people are buying from the Star Wars theme right now. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest that people call customer care to voice their displeasure, if they’re so moved. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum1 point

Only 3% of that, for US sellers, was Paypal anyway. I doubt we'll see lower fees.1 point

I think you will see a lot of rockets, Porsches, Bounties, Parisian Restaurants and BWE´s being hoarded to very little effect as the money is nearl always in what the horde overlooks. The hard part is knowing the overlooked sets that will do well!1 point

^ Exactly what popped into my head. Amazon takes over retail banking via Paypal. Next step, small business banking (with a wonderfully captive reseller community in-house). Bezos for the win...(again)...1 point

Yep, it said nothing about improving selling experience1 point

Last time I checked, I could login to PayPal account and withdraw any payment as soon as the purchase was made. Unless this new system allows me to access my money via thoughts, I do not see how this will be simpler than what we have now1 point

Nothing to see here...just eBay trying to shaft sellers (and really buyers too) for the nth time. I already don't trust PayPal (their terrible dispute resolution process), but I distrust eBay even more.1 point
