Yes. Just a reminder that this thread is for reporting retired sets. If a set is doing the dance, out of stock, call to check, etc, please report that it in the speculation thread.4 points

My winner is 41171 - Emily Jones & the Baby Wind Dragon. My average buy was under $3 from KMart with points and coupons, clearing them out over $40. Had over 100, down to 27 My loser was 75096 - Sith Infiltrator. Was expecting more because it was a TRU exclusive, and the Watto figure. Got my money back plus a little holding fee, but the ship just has no holding power. I don't predict much for 75099 - Rey's Speeder. have a bunch from Walmart at 70% off. We shall see what comes of it though.2 points

Lego must have produced a bucket load of trains, thinking that Autumn hype would shift them all by now. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4907012/John-Lewis-unveils-10-Christmas-toys.html Should have been a £120 set with the power functions included. People don't like paying twice.2 points

Why are there so many things listed at 30% off that are already OOS / retired, and not included in the sale?2 points

Interesting sub-plots over the next 24 hours: How many Brickheadz Lego actually have; Whether Elves 2017 is a poor investment; Whether Lego can succeed where TRU failed (TRU had a summer 50% sale to clear Wonder Woman, but still have Tanker Takedown); Whether there is demand for £120+ Minecraft; Very poor sales of Nexo will justify the summer axe; Releasing a train without power functions was a mistake; For me, the surprises are: Moana reduced; Pre-Ninjago Movie still available; Only one Architecture line; Very little Star Wars; Ecto-1 returning again, albeit briefly; Lego choosing not to farm out the slow sellers;2 points

Quite happy with that haul. Loaded up with more Yellow Subs, finally got the Caterham for a price I’m happy with, and completed another two full sets of the first wave Brickheadz.2 points

If Disney wants to watch the Star Wars brand go up in smoke, then having a bad Solo film follow a divisive Last Jedi will set the ball rolling. I disliked the Last Jedi and have pretty much written off episode 9 and anything Rian Johnson touches, so where is it heading? It’s not looking good. Rogue One might be the only real bright spot.2 points

So anyways, since I’ve sent you payment, when are you shipping’em? I took a day off from work on the 3rd of January so I wouldn’t miss the delivery. [emoji12]2 points

Jokerland is not doing well in Europe unless your buy-in was 5 quid. There are many many other sets that retired last year that have outperformed it, including XXL classic box.1 point

2.2% is a great deal from Paypal. In many countries it´s almost 4%. You can´t defend yourself against this type of fraud unless you take such extreme precautions that you make yourself unattractive to buyers. Specialist platforms like Bricklink and Brickowl offer lower fraud rates but you will sell a small fraction of what you would move on Amazon or Ebay. Perhaps one of my bad decisions was not to check to Facebook marketplace, now you mention it.1 point

As @feed mentions, the most profitable strategy is to go in deep on one or two sets - any of the fantasy investment leagues people have run prove that. The problem is if you don´t pick the right set and it is not always easy to tell. Stuff like 75919 IR are no brainers but who would have bet on Emily Jones Wind Dragon being the best ROI Elves set or indeed that a Bionicle would be the best performing set of the year? There is also a time to buy and a time to sell. A lot of us make the mistake of thinking appreciation will always stay constant but then the remake comes or market tastes change. Diversification doesn´t help the chronic hoarders who can´t bear to sell as they will feel they can´t if they don´t have enough of that set.1 point

some of the most respectable ppl on this site would vote just 3 months back, that the "right set" in your area would be Friends 41122 Adventure Tree House.. and now its getting some kind of a "twin" .. are you so sure about your strategy.. ? Its like the proverb never put the eggs into one nest.. I like diversification (to certain level - like not buying 50x the same set and nothing else)1 point

Importing 99c store dimensions into the UK. Portal 2 in particular. Deciding that Lego are better at making sets for girls, right now. This could be more the change in toys and interactive/video games and the whole role-play vs. linear play thing. But pink sets have been killing it for me. Not following my gut on sets, not going all in sets that were obvious winners. This game isn’t about diversification, it’s about loading up on the right sets. I still find it hard to buy 50 of one set rather than 2 or 3 of 20 sets. Even though when I do that it pays off.1 point

I just started Lego Investing but I bought the Ultra Stealth Raider at like 82.26 which I know realize was kinda dumb but better than $100. I picked up all three sets from the Dead men tell no tales movie and I expect great rewards though.1 point

Good or bad, it just seems like Star Wars products and related things are overproduced. How much stuff(not just LEGO) from TFA & RO are we still finding out there and sometimes at BIG discounts. First Order Scout Walker is just a bomb of a set now that we've seen the movie and Rathtar Escape was poorly executed which has happened to too many LEGO sets recently. Not sure how to divvy up the blame on that. I saw a bunch of Quad Jumpers at my Wal-Mart and that's a very good set that seems to be moving slow. I want to blame overproduction because seems like the pre-Disney movie sets are not as heavily produced and seem to move a little better overall. Plus they seem to have shorter shelf lives.1 point

Yes but they are not exclusives. The real exclusive ones (so far) are still full price. You can use the next 6 minutes wisely by checking out the offers in other countries before making your order....1 point

A lot of this for me on multiples. I start low and sacrifice some profit at first and raise my price moderately above most listing after the 2nd to 3rd sale and gradually move up from there. My listings will appear top 2 or 3 for the remainder of my units 90 percent of the time. It seems shoppers want to buy from where others have bought before and trust the multiple sales history. I personaly don't use stock photos and have had very good success on multiples. I take one really good photo showcasing my product and I'll make sure i have a lot of units that are close to the same condition OR I write in the description all sets show some shelfware and imperfections. That seems to do it for me.1 point

I've noticed the Yellow Submarine set has been on sale at shop at home for a little while now. Generally Lego marks stuff down before it retires, but the Yellow Submarine is available for backorder... the backorder makes me skeptical, but all other things seem to point to it retiring soon. I would like to buy a few, but was curious to see what everyone here would say about the sale and potential retirement? I couldn't find much on the web. No doubt it will do well after it does retire...1 point
