  12. pretty good deal on jet.com for LEGO ELVES Ragana magic shadow castle. 1 for $53.87 before any jet.com magic. 4x for $52.71 each before jet magic. msrp $99.99. ~48% off MSRP online is pretty sweet. limit 7. amazon pulling up lame at $58.39 for the same set. this set might be around for another year though it was clearanced at walmart which usually presages retirement. water dragon's for $11 but limit 2.

  13. You already sold everything and have nothing left. Believe us, we know! Well, besides the 3 other times in the past 2 days you mentioned finding and selling stuff you no longer have.

  16. for more early retirement clues check out the usa walmart clearance thread. system wide walmart clearance has been nearly 100% spot on predictor of EOL in the last 18 months. list is at the top of the thread. resistance x-wing and poe's x-wing were both cleared. one glaring exception is minecraft the cave which retired last year in europe is still kicking around in usa because of its incredibly high sales rank on amazon #3 most popular lego and #142 most popular TOY. apologies for further graffiti in the inner sanctum. this thread will need to be cleaned up (cough @Alpinemaps) since its supposed to be strictly limited to retirement updates .

  18. Even the MTT that was released that summer has done better than this one. I have a few of these left, and i've come to the conclusion this is a set you part out, but I haven't gotten into that game, so i'm going to stick it out for a while longer. It's interesting that hoth playsets have no problem going above 2.5x, but the cantina scene does not. Is there a phobia to sand based desert environments vs snow based desert environments? I don't know. But, really the only thing valuable in this set is the dewback maxifig. And since so many people have parted this out, I think a lot of people just buy that.

  20. I scooped up one to build for $20 w/free shipping, that sure as heck beats giving Lego $125 I am waiting for the Nutcrackers next month, and who knows what is to come in December...

  21. Ordered a load of bricks from PAB. They shipped me the promo first, since the bricks typically take 2 weeks. Could've been a bit more economical with the packaging!

  23. Verify all the parts are there from what is opened and put them in labeled ziplock bags. Put the parts from bag 1 in a single bag, bag 2 in another bag, etc. Leave the sealed bags as they are. Will give the buyer the ability to have a traditional build experience, and give them the confidence that the set is complete.

  24. Well then maybe I’m wrong about these being sketchy listings, if people are anticipating such low supply. I guess I don’t know who the market is at 4000$. The AFOL I know can’t afford it. Even if they could afford it, they wouldn’t pay that much (their wives wouldn’t let them....) Maybe investor collectors thinking infinite supply issues, heavy demand, and fast retirement? I don’t know. I guess no matter what, something will always be worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.

  29. I have one of those TRU express's close to my town... so i've been bricktobering all their batman lego movie sets, and flipping them. Overall, this weeks bricktober event has been a winner for me. I heard in many areas they were sold out rather quickly, but these lingered in my area. Haven't bought much over the last year, but deals like that I can't pass up. So far, I purchased the following: Kylo Ren's Tie Fighter (got the promo), Hovertank & Yoda's Starfighter (priced matched online, got the promo and both sets are retiring soon), Twoface Double Demolition (they were selling it for 47.99 and I added a batman movie minifigure to take it over 50 which got me the promo), AT-ST & Carbon Freezing Chamber (Price matched online and got the last promo in the store).. We'll keep one of the batman minifigure packs for ourselves since my son is a fan of that theme... But, you can't beat spending around 230.00, yet selling 100.00 off with the promo as these are moving at 39.99 a pop on amazon. By the end of it all, we added a lot of sets to our collection for a little over 130.00.

  31. Was just at the main store across from the Eaton Centre looking for Star Wars black series figures and was surprised to see they had a mix of the new Star Wars and superheroes lego sets available. I doubt this is a sign of much as the other 2 locations down here I went to didn't have any, and there wasn't even a discount available for EB Games Edge members, but keep your eyes peeled. When God shuts a Sears window, he opens an EB door.

  32. I haven't purchased any used bulk lots for over a year, but stumbled upon two over the past two days locally on Craig's. First one had 17 sets, including every set from the new City Jungle theme, three of the larger Ninjago sets that were just released, a fire station, and some other random city sets. Paid $200 for everything. Retail new is $850 plus tax. The second one included a Maersk Train 10219, a VW Bus, a Farnsworth House, and a brand new Van and Caravan 60117, and an airplane that I haven't identified yet (picture attached - please help). I paid $160 for those. Plenty of meat on the bone for resale down the road. These lots will be my winter project. Can anyone identify the white, blue, and yellow airplane in the last picture?

  33. Hey I had to rearrange my family's whole morning just to get there at 7:30 AM and I get that kind of special dispensation maybe only once or twice a year!

  34. I'm not mad at this set. I bought three, all at MSRP and directly from Lego SAH. I got some kind of freebie with each, but I can't remember what exactly. I sold two for $260 each, and each during an eBay promo where I only paid $5 in fees. After paypal and shipping I probably cleared about $60-70 total profit. Definitely nothing to get excited about but It means that the cost of my personal copy (that I really look forward to building some day) was about $140 before factoring in the VIP points and freebies I earned, and that's okay with me. #notgreedy

  36. Just weird that there are only 14 sellers on Amazon, and the buy price could jump to $160 if the $119 seller sells out. I'm sure volume is low. On eBay they are going for $80-ish still. Basically I'm bored and looking around at sets in my office. :-)

  37. In that one catalogue that leaked, it showed 5 sets coming for the Han Solo movie. There's also 4 more sets coming for the Last Jedi on 1/1/2018 for the winter wave. I also read where "Solo Friday" or whatever they are calling it is on 4/20. So, after this winter wave, that's the next thing to look forward to until the Summer 2018 waves, which I assume will have the traditional 5 or 6 sets that will probably book end both the Han Solo and Last Jedi films. I'm going to assume we won't see many more Force Awakens or Rogue One sets...although it would be nice to at least get a Saw Gerrera mini to finish off Rogue One. It's also disappointing we didn't get anything related to Darth Vaders slaughtering of Fleet Troopers as they escaped on the Tantive IV (in fact, I'm shocked the Tantive IV wasn't in the Rogue One waves). That would have made for a great set highlighting the best scene in the movie.

  38. seeing all the new sets in the new catalog and how much money these are going for i've been unloading them all. jw and scooby doo are the unquestionable winners in the last year. The only set that might not be remade would be Irex. pretty much a guarantee you will see another T-rex and raptor, pteranadon. maybe another diplosaurus. the demand for this theme is strong and you can sell through 4-5 Irex's in a day for $250 if you have the buy box. pretty good return for the irex's i was topping off with in January from TRU for $91. ended up with 30 at EOL. down to 12.

  39. 5 proper lego, 3 Juniors and 2 Duplo. Maybe a large exclusive too. Seems they are going to milk this one so maybe this Xmas is a good time to sell the previous sets.

  40. If this is your first year in the game then it does make sense to sit and watch from the sidelines without spending real money. Place your virtual bets on sets you think will retire and how they will perform. Retirements will come thick and fast in November and so will the sales.

  41. Yeah, I have a few. I missed out on Brandeburg . Still, I like this set. I think it is better executed than most. When I walk by these on the selves and leave them there... I kinda feel the same way I felt when I walked by those 21009 Farnsworths a couple years ago...

  42. I can tell you in the Northeast, I find them at some random B&N as well as other book stores still at full retail. It's worth it if you want to build them all but in terms of investment, jury is still out. It could be another Brandenburg Gate. I'm fond of the Architecture series though so I'd go for it if I already didn't have 2 of the Flatirons.
