  1. After the unfortunate recent events in Texas and Louisiana with Hurricane Harvey, I just want to let Brickpickers who live in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina know that we are thinking about them. I know our thoughts mean very little in the grand scheme of things, but get the Hell out of danger. You can always replace a LEGO set or TV...You cannot replace yourself. I am praying for you. Be safe and let that witch go out to sea... Ed and Jeff.

  4. Let's be honest, when you've got: You have Chima sets still on the shelf, that have been retired for 2+ years, and they're still marked above RRP, You don't automatically PM your website (and PM'ing negates coupons and other discounts), You jack up the prices above RRP so that your sales aren't really sales, You have so many exclusions on your coupons, that you need a magnifying glass to read them, Your jacked up prices cause people to just go to the other big box store (Target, Walmart) that sells LEGO in the same shopping center ...you're gonna have trouble staying in business.

  5. Thanks for creating a feed! Many of my loved ones are in the NC,SC, and FL area. A few tips if you live in the many expected flood zones. Your dishwasher is like a "flood safe". You can save things you have to leave behind like pictures, small safes, sentimental items, and of course important documents etc. It is waterproof and secure. Also if you are expecting a power outage (which I would) and are staying, your washing machine makes a great fridge. Fill with bottled water, drinks (whatever you need refrigerated.) top with ice. Keep the lid closed. Should keep you good for a couple of days and the water simply runs out.

  6. The only reason I would waste my time waiting on line at the mall would be to get that cool box. My wife will probably want to toss it in the recyclables.

  15. Another personal purchase: All 3 Advent Calendars for $45.71 total (54% off) plus $15 in bonus SYW points from KMart/Sears. Needed some serious SYW magic, but in 2 orders, using a $5 off $35, a $10 off $50, a $10 back on $10 and a $5 back on $20, with $35 in Sweeps winnings did the trick. 6% discounted GC gave the final few dollars of savings.

  16. SSD is too niche and small scale. ISD has a much higher chance to be remade, and I would actually welcome that. Remakes should be done really sparingly, but ISD, Falcon and X-Wing are those I can forgive, since the number of ships so iconic is limited. No matter how creative you are if the movie limits you. Toy Shop, on the other hand, was not limited by its own universe. It was genuine laziness. And I share the same idea for obscure SW ships. There are enough of those so remakes are not needed. If I were LEGO I would release here and there some obscure stuff never to be remade, but make the staples available regularly for average AFOLs. And if they ever remake any modular ... well, that would be their worst decision to date.

  17. I love the line .. "by a real LEGO designer." Does that mean someone who doesn't just tweak remakes? Or perhaps someone who doesn't comb the web looking for AFOL designs to rip off? Might have made more sense to say "one of the MF designers."

  24. I don't understand all this hate for the Falcon's rear end. It's no worse than on 10179, and arguably the blue tubes are a better representation of the actual engines from the movies. 10179 rear 75192 rear (photo taken by @jstodda earlier in this thread) Rear of Falcon from SW: A New Hope Rear of Falcon from SW: The Force Awakens

  28. the new falcon. I am excited about it. I am thrilled what it looks like. I cannot afford the old one. the newer one looks more detailed to me. I am happy to pay $800 to get this one and I do not care about its collectible long term value and what I can sell it for. I want to build it with my family and enjoy it. as a toy. I think there will be many people like me. yes things could be improved better or this or that but bottom line is I am thrilled and glad they released it. Yes I buy sell lego. this set is not about that to me. it is about fun. that is new thinking I know.

  29. #5...2 Exclusive Minifigures plus 3 buildable figures...totaling 11 figs...not Bad this is actually a huge let down since you can BrickLink 80% of those figures for 30USD w/ shipping. C3PO - Escape Pod Rey - Rey Speeder Han TFA - Rathar Escape Chewie - trash bin. Pogos are not a figures, it's pile of bricks put together. Finn - any TFA TLJ set literally.

  30. False. The last 3 retired modulars all had instant bumps well above RRP within 3 months of retirement and were double RRP within a year of retirement.

  31. I think you are right. It's a test. We will see how a weakening investor/reselling/collector's market will affect sales of large scale sets like this. Five years ago, many on this site would buy a half dozen of the new Falcon...now...maybe one. Don't let the expected shortages deceive you. LEGO wants to give consumers the impression that the new Falcon is a "must have" and "hot" set. We will see...

  32. @TabbyBoy those people are just common folks, not the ones who are looking at the whole thing as a lego resellers. They've got all those sets from LIMIT 5 orders and now trying to offload them. This website charges you 5% of the transaction and shipping in Poland is about 4 times cheaper than in UK using same carrier as DPD DHL etc. Sending Apollo in Poland will cost you 3GBP (DHL) in UK 12+ for same carrier. So for those guys 125% RPP makes the same sense like 135~140% in UK. about same profit.

  34. Not really. Debt restructuring is very common, and bankruptcy is almost always explored during restructuring analysis in order to provide investors with the information required to properly assess the risk and reward in financing.

  40. Annual family trip to Chicago, annual family "buy LEGO sets for RRP" at the LEGO store (well, this time LLDC in Schaumburg). My son bought a Minecraft Mushroom Island and my daughter got the Friends Hot Chocolate van. 5% off with VIP card, and I threw in a Halloween Seasonal set (the new one) for $10 to qualify for an R3-M2. Politely asked for another one and the girl obliged, saying "we're not supposed to but many people have been refusing theirs". Hopefully that will alleviate the shock of having to pay full price for LEGO ....

  42. I have only been back into the present Lego era since end of 2015 so my knowledge might be limited...but from a pure Lego fan point of view this has been an amazing year so far: Saturn 21309: An amazing set with a fantastic display value. De build has been said to be fantastic. And last but not least, great history! Fishing Store 21310: Great looking IDEAS set Carousel 10257: I am a huge fan of the Creator Expert Fairground sets, the carousel is awesome London Bus 10258: Not my fave but definitely a solid set. Snowspeeder 75144: A must have for my collection, love this set. Silent Mary....love it or hate it.....i love it! Destiny Bounty 70618: Aarghhh...another beautiful set...absolutely love it. Ninjago City 70620: I need this one for sure..I love the busy Asian cities and this is a masterpiece And the Falcon....no words needed, thank you Lego...you hammered it!
