First Impressions.... Love the box...Classic black. Red orange planet looks awesome. Font is professional and worthy of the UCS title Limit 5...They have plenty to sell and this will be around for awhile Minifigures...I wish they had Luke, R2 and Obi-Wan thrown in, but it is an obvious hint to another future EMPIRE STRIKES BACK set Ship...Very nice upgrade over the 10179. As expected, some minor, but appreciated inner details, but more than enough to satisfy me. The two dishes are a great option. Effect on the 10179...Short term...BIG HIT...Long term...Not so much. The two sets are different enough that there will be collectors in the future that want the 10179, especially the First Edition. No special edition of this set hurts it IMO. That was a home run collectible set. Now, it's just one of many others which could be around for a long time. Price point...I like it...Keeps the dilettantes away. Overall. I'm not happy with any remake, but if you are going to do it, do it right. LEGO did it right.12 points

Thought I would quickly share with everyone the small Batman display I've pulled together. Check it out: Had to find a good way to display the Lego Batman CMFs, so I brick built the LBM logo and added all 20 minifigures across the logo. Select figs have a small Batman logo on their stand. All Batman baddies ever made are displayed above in the Rogue's Gallery (posted before), and I mounted the big figs and the Brickheadz directly to little stands that I nailed to the wall. LBM vehicles are in the shelves below. Next on my to-do list is to build a display for all of the Batman minifigures ever released. My idea is to mount them on a background that's modeled after Wayne Tower. Robin minifigs we'll be on the lower levels, and Batman figs will be in the upper sections. Hope this spurs some creative ways to display minifigure collections! Will post more as it's completed.9 points

After trying not to buy much lately, I've found a few decent deals that I couldn't pass. Used, 99% complete Sopwith Camel, no instructions - $25 Sealed 4736 Harry Potter Freeing Dobby set and sealed 7913 Clone Trooper Battle pack - $10 total. And the buy I'm most happy about: Green Grocer, Town Hall, Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium, Pet Shop, Town Plan, and 7938 Passenger train. All are built and dusty, appear to be mostly complete, and there were no instructions - $3007 points

There is no doubt this is great news for the kids in all of us, but as a collector and investor, this represents a sea change in the investing landscape. I am getting one Day 1 too. Maybe this is the right spot to place my latest BrickPicker YouTube video. "Lego Investing: Are Buying Big Sets the Best Investment"6 points

I really just want one of those LEGO boxes with wheels and a handle. If I have to buy one of these sets to get one, I guess I will suck it up.5 points

Lets break this down. 10179 = 5,197 pieces 75192 = 7,541 pieces 45% increase in piece count. 10179 retailed for $500 in 2007. Adjusting for the 45% increase in piece count: $500 * 1.45 = $725 Then, let's adjust the $725 for inflation: $725 is $850 in 2017 dollars. https://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl?cost1=725.00&year1=200710&year2=201707 So at $800 MSRP the set is already on sale! BUY BUY BUY We all thought we'd never see a $500 set at retail and now we have a $800 one. What will be the first $1,000 set?5 points

First.. correlation doesn't mean causation. Lego was in trouble and it wasn't due to lack of inflated sales due to speculation. Sure the new speculator sales help immediate revenue, but like all sugar rushes, it's not real, nor is necessarily healthy. Lego pivoted in what they were selling and what brands they were licensing - that is what turned Lego around... not scalpers. People have been buying "boxes of plastic" for entertainment for decades. Speculators don't create a market - they obfuscate it. If anything, one would argue it's more harmful as it creates a false view of the market that is unsustainable. I bet 99.999% of Lego buyers have no idea they can resell their sets when they are done as anything but "a box of misc legos". Sure, the UCS and other limited run sets are a different market and those buyers are different. But I'd wager that most fans still don't buy with the idea of flipping or 'selling for appreciation'. Most just know there are secondary markets where they can get sets that are NLA. The "investor" crowd only works when you are ahead of the curve or can influence availability. With Lego re-releasing sets, the availability angle disappears. With the decade or so now of the flipper behind us... there is no more 'ahead of the curve'. Lego isn't producing for the speculators... so when someone groans about their piece that used to be an exclusive showing up in other sets.. boohoo.5 points

I was hoping for this to be the box art, I mean look at the design of that thing. It is far superior than the one we will be given.5 points

Right now, there is no helping the 10179. It's a race to the bottom. People who keep it, want it and won't sell it anyway. But at some point, the bottom will be hit and a buying opportunity will arise from the ashes. Some prudent investors/resellers/speculators might take advantage of this and do well with the 10179...a second time. There will be people who want them all. To an anal LEGO elitist jerk like me, displaying them all is the only way to go. Go big or go home...4 points

LEGO has killed "Special" - and it will never be coming back again. People can try blaming websites, resellers, and the fakes - but none of these things could even come close to what LEGO has done to themselves.3 points

No so much? Sorry, but unless by long term you are talking post apocalypse - you are being extremely generous with your optimism. These are some very sad times for LEGO investors.3 points

Hi everyone! I'm new to posting on BP but have been lurking for awhile now. below are a few pics of a MOC that I originally made to be a center piece to my daughter's LEGO elf village. It never really got finished because she decided to use it as a night light! Now if course my son would like something as well. For the lighting I used shapeable wire Christmas LED lighting. I hunted around online for some model lights but everything was pretty pricy. Any suggestions on good deals out there or any suitable alternatives? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!3 points

Timed this Kmart round of closing perfectly again. Stores that close first week of October hit 50% today and will drop 10% more each Thursday till closing. I have to look into dates for the next round of stores. I believe the new 20+ close in December. Which would make the last Thursday of October 50% (give or take a week) I'll figure it out before then. Everything 55% off (used 10% off and 25 back in points coupon) ALSO if you use gift cards at a closing store they need paper (cannot scan from phone or manually type it in) I guess I'll save the GCs for the other store that's closing in 2 months.2 points

I am sure this will be an unpopular opinion. But damn, I am REALLY disappointed! $800 for a sticker sheet and NO lights. No certificates. No signatures. No first run. Nothing. Cmon Lego all this hype, for this? Seriously? The included minifigures, (for a display model !) are only good to bring the price down. Maybe it will grow on me, but for now, not pleased with it. It is far from a decade of improvements! But on a positive note at least I don't have to worry about how to afford it!2 points

This set is a big risk for LEGO as well...and a test. We will see how many people walk the walk and dish out $800.00 for this set. That's no chump change. People on forums like to say all sorts of things, but when are person has to answer to a husband or wife about why they need to pay a car payment or mortgage instead of buying a toy, things can change.2 points

This has got to be the slowest most painful bandaid ripoff for what seems like an eternity. But holy mother of god....That is sexy AF. It really does make the old one look like crap. Luckily, I already have those days scheduled off so I can camp out at the Lego store to walk away with this day one and savor every bit of this wondrous set!2 points
