It all started with one of our fish having babies. We separated them in a breeding tank for a couple of days. But that was not enough....my wife and sons teamed up on me and begged for a bigger tank. Next thing I knew...we had decided to not only get a bigger tank, but also decided exactly how we wanted to decorate it. We love our Lego displays, and this was just another creative way to add to the collection. What the hell...right?!! Great build! Very fragile! Great display piece!20 points

The first review is up. Few interesting things despite the fact that it's absolutely beautiful! It's a third largest LEGO construction in history. Many many new pieces in new color, some of them are extremely rare. The Bricklink Value Per Piece may quadruple the RPP price. Not a huge fan of Ninjago theme and movie, albeit the mixture of far Asian steam punk style with futuristic "total recall" resemblance makes it a no brainer to me.6 points

I would go for slow flip. At this point Dec 1st looks like a good date to try to sell. I am guessing if they have them, they will be gone after black Friday, and then skies the limit. 27R7 for the one I ordered from LEGO Shop at Home a few days ago.2 points

My son and I are on a tear and we built TLBM Clayface set. Love it! Next plan is to mod the arms to actual articulated fingers. Someone on EB shows how to do it without using any additional parts.2 points

On a lighter note. I was in Walmart today (I know how strange right?) Picking up some items and these two kinda rough looking late 40yr old guys walked past me on the LEGO aisle. I had "collected" several small sets and they were in my cart. Went one aisle over to check out the "friends" section and heard them say, "Did you see that guy..... he had like 5 or 6 of all the same set in his cart?" When I got to the checkout (outdoor lawn and garden) those two same guys were in front of me. They were buying the Batcave Break In. (just one) Gave me a chuckle.2 points

We sold a larger lego set on ebay last month and used them to ship it fedex across county. Ebay quoted us $31 which we used and then this month we were actually billed $66 for the shipment. We have not used ebay in over a year but had a promo so figured we would give it a shot. We will never use ebay to ship fedex again. Don't have the time to try and pry a $30 refund out of an ebay customer service agent. Probably won't use ebay again for another few years but when we do I will use our own fedex account directly. Just be warned their upfront quote may only be half of what you actaully get charged on the backend.1 point

Since none of these sets have Leia in them, I am holding out hope for a huge increase in demand (around Christmas) for 75140s. Perhaps this smelliest of turds will do well after all.1 point

The only set that would make Town Hall like waves is if they retired Assembly Square this year or next.1 point

This is a interesting set. I had a family member ask me to keep my eye out for one and to pay me back. They rarely ever buy a set. The last set they bought for their own collection was Indiana Jones sets when they were in Wal-Mart's. This set is one of those once a decade sets.1 point

I receive instant email notifications when there's a new post in this thread, but that means I also get notified of those almost hourly automatic posts from Max Profit. It's becoming a pain. Any way we can get them reduced without affecting notifications for other posts?1 point

From my experience selling over 150 used sets in the past 2 years, I can say with absolute certainty (based on the statements left in my feedback) that people really DO value a nicely broken down, sorted and easy to build used set. I've even had people message me thanking me for the good organizing etc. Some of those people have come back and bought more. Depends how invested into this you are. The guys just ramming chunks of sets back into original box (or bags) comes across as the yardsale online type of seller, half assed and likely not going to help you out if something goes wrong.... whereas I'm trying to treat it like a professional small retail business to the best of my abilities. That means putting more time (work) into making shiny listings, but I believe it's allowed me to sell my used sets at much higher than (BP's) recommended prices. People perceive value in a good pre-build verification and take-down sort with nice photos to back it up. That value is in my pocket now1 point

If the buyer reads that whole paragraph, I'd be mighty impressed. I couldn't get past a couple lines before my eyes started to wander and my brain started saying "ack." I mean this respectfully, but if you don't want to claim the set is 100% complete, avoid using "100%" anywhere in your description. We all know buyers don't read descriptions. Keep it simple... "Adult owned, not guaranteed to be complete - i.e. it may have missing pieces and I did not verify the included pieces against the parts list. In good condition and will be shipped partially disassembled." Nobody cares if you built it (though some do like the adult built part) or had it in a closet for a year. ALSO - You really should ship disassembled unless specifically requested by the buyer. Greater chance to have stuff bounce around and get scratched up. If I opened a box with a bunch of partially built sections and some loose bits, I'll likely be frustrated right from the start trying to figure out how to build the damn thing (or that I have to take it apart just to get the build enjoyment).1 point

Unfortunately you let your emotions get the better of you in your response. Always avoid using accusatory terms like "You did this, You said that..." We (BPers) don't doubt that you are a AFOL, but the person buying your set doesn't care. (usually) Since you communicated directly through ebay, ebay will see the communication chain. Before you take the next step call ebay and talk with them. They'll look over the correspondence, the listing and your track record and help make a viable recommendation for you. Just be prepared for ebay to not rule in your favor. Hopefully this wont be the case, but still... If it was me I'd approve the return and move on. As others have said, it's the cost of doing business on ebay.1 point

I think it's sold out online pretty much everywhere now. It was 45% off from Target and Amazon for awhile this month. I flipped several dozen of the first Destiny's Bounty for ~$50 profit per set. A set doesn't have to double to be worthwhile, if it's big enough and you buy at a substantial discount from MSRP. As boats go, I like this one a lot better than the last Lego pirate ship.1 point
