Sounds like Exciter is sipping the moonshine again. Either that or the lead paint from all his SW collectibles are getting to him.7 points

I think I know that guy. Side note...anyone looking for Packer tix this season send me a PM. I've got about 30 extras for various home games. I price them below stubhub, and offer free parking at my place. I'm a ten minute walk from Lambeau. If you buy multiple games I'll throw in a free Joker Steamroller, too!5 points

This is not just an investment website; it is also a Lego community with many people who build and enjoy Lego. You don't need to $hit on a set when the poster specifically asked for a display case. Obviously if the poster wants to display it in a case, what difference does it make if the techniques used make it a fragile and unplayable?5 points

Thank you Elkthunder! I also had no idea that Nordstrom sold LEGO items. Some decent deals still in stock. I think I'll pass (slowly puts away wallet). If you are handy you could make your own, once I get the chance I am going to follow this guys instructions to make a few. Not too complicated and can easily be adapted to suit I think.3 points

I like that set, and would probably pick that up as it's a ship (in a bottle!) and it's pretty cool. But I better get Voltron. Just sayin'2 points

Bonjour, Canadians! I didn't know where to put this but this seemed to be the Canada thread. I'm visiting Quebec and Montreal next week for the first time. Furthermore, it's actually my first time in Canada as well! Any worthy LEGO hunting locations in both the cities? I'll be staying inside the city so I wanted to experience them as well as pick up some souvenirs.1 point

You should be able to scroll back through the app to find the post with the offer. The details should be in a comment posted as a reply. It might take you awhile to get all the way down. You should be able to take a screenshot on your phone/tablet once you find it.1 point

One of the reasons that Amazon gated textbooks was because they were sued by textbook manufacturers over counterfeit sales back in January. I don't have any insight into what has come of that litigation, but my assumption is that the recent gating is a response to it. The same thing could certainly happen in the Lego market if TLG took a similar step as the textbook publishers, but they don't have the same incentives to be as aggressive given that their business model is so different than textbook publishers. Those companies have a vested interest in destroying the secondary market for their products because every textbook that is resold is one less sale that the company will realize...that's why they refresh textbooks every few years with new editions. For Lego, the secondary market is fundamentally different...retired sets don't function as substitutes for sets that are currently available so Lego doesn't have the same inherent incentive to destroy the secondary market. And Amazon is, I think, keenly aware that imposing a hard brand gate on Lego would effectively destroy the market given the restrictions that TLG places on who can become an authorized dealer. If they weren't, I don't think they would have been as generous with the grandfathering last year.1 point

I would pass. Not enough quantity of anything interesting to me unless you buy 20 of them cheaper than $35 (more like $15)1 point

I think so, I discovered a single WALMART exclusive A-Wing in 2015 and that never came out so I think they moved it to this year - which was an absolute surprise to all of us, remember?1 point

Who knew Nordstroms sold lego. Thanks for the heads up. Picked up a few things.1 point

I am too busy avoiding the set, but pretty sure it was sub-13 before, if nothing else as result of Bogo401 point

It's been a good, consistent seller on Amazon (according to CCC) and has 140+ reviews (another indicator of popularity with the real buying public). It would seem like some demand is there, but it's become a casualty in the retail war. Oh well. Here's to future Captain and Tennille MOCs.1 point
-
Not yet. They pushed it to the next reveal. I thought I heard we'd be getting results soon? I think (hope) Voltron will happen. I think the delay is just related to the number of lawyers working on the licensing agreement. On a basic Ideas set, you'd have LEGO and the creator to deal with. On every other licensed Ideas set, you'd have the licensee (e.g. BBC Worldwide for Doctor Who), the creator and LEGO. With Voltron you're going to have two licensees. You'd have the US rights holder (because it's Voltron, not Golion), and then you have the Golion Japanese rights holder. I don't know that for sure and you would think that the US holder has carte blanc to license as they see fit, but I'm guessing that building block toys isn't covered by that license.1 point

Yeah, my sons were very put off by the different voices. Why not just use the original voice actors? How much more marketing buzz gets generated by having Fred Armisen voice one of the characters? I've never understood having famous people be voices for animated films.1 point

Sounds remarkably similar to my reaction when I first saw Michael Bay's version of Transformers. Granted I was closer to 26 than 6, but well. yeah.1 point
