I built the UCS B-Wing 10227 over the weekend as the kids and I continue to work our way through our Star Wars want list whenever we have enough profits from Legos sales to finance our next buy. I enjoyed the build as it had some different pieces that I have never used before...plus I am always a sucker for a large OT set. I haven't built the 75050 B-Wing for comparison, but have been busy selling them to pay for sets like these ?. (Sorry for the low quality pics...we had bad lighting and just snapped them quickly.) Next up for us will be the Tantive IV 10198, which we are excited to finally build.11 points

I built Krennic's shuttle today and the striker on Friday. The striker has really grown on me. The elongated body isn't my favorite, but I love the length and shape of the wings. The mechanism to move the wings and lock them in place are nice. The shuttle was ok. The wings are huge, but I hate the body shape. Not thrilled about the ball joints for the wings. I'm less sure of the friction keeping them up than the ratchets in the tyderium. Interesting how every panel is designed to open. You can carry 5 characters and stash 4 guns in back. Honestly, I got this set for the figures.3 points

Hello everyone Today we finished our Lego Star Wars Battle on Hoth Echo Base MOC after 7 years of building. We tried to put as much details as possible of the movie in the moc and we think the result turned out really well. But that is just our opinion. What do you guys think? We'd like to get some opinions of you and what you like and what we could improve next time. Greetings to all of you3 points

I started working some concepts in Google SketchUp, and then moved to Lego Digital Designer. I estimate total design time was about 50 hours. I wanted to generally match the design and proportions of the lighthouse in the cartoon, and yet keep it minifigure scale. About 50 hours of design, just under 2000 pc, and just finished. I hope you like it.3 points

only 1 US certificate number for them as of now so that should be one run overall for US. Tested 12/27/16 and entered 3/22/17 EU has 26 but believe they just have to do 1 for each country. There docs just say date signed which was 1/3/17 for all of them. Possible the full run was 1409 as well. Both signature / entry dates being after the production of 49/50B6. Interesting while checking last US Castle cert was December of 2016. On the bad side T1 was just issued another on 5/29/17. Good thing we were getting low...2 points

Jason Alleman (J K Brick works - creator of the Lego Maze 21305) has a sound/light/Bluetooth brick project on Kickstarter at the moment. He integrated the PFx Brick into the Saturn V: Superb! I'd also promote backing the project on Kickstarter as it only has 11 days to go and is just 10% short of its target.2 points

I'm with you, @TabbyBoy. I refuse to pay more than RRP for a set, especially when it's a new set that will be in production for more than a year yet. But people who were raised by their parents to be spoiled brats, given anything they wanted, the moment they wanted it, think: I want it now and I'll pay whatever necessary to get it now. Ha ha ha... suckers! For myself, I'm really eager to get this set myself, but I'm patiently waiting for a good promo to go along with the purchase of this marvellous set.1 point

I hear y'all. I sold all 15 of my $99 sets for. $200 shipped. Sold a $140 one for $200. Then bought one for $275 after EOL because I wanted one to eventually build.1 point

For starters, it appears all LEGO Batman Movie sets are 20% off at Toys R Us/Toysrus.com this week. Including the new stuff... The Batpod might also be part of the promotion in-store. http://www.toysrus.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=116696236&ab=TRU_BrandShop:LEGO_Batman_ShopNow:11 point

What's this all aboot? Lowballers eh? Which country can buy lego on yuuuge sale within months of release all the time and has frequent retail discounts of 50% or more?1 point

Built this over the past few weeks for my kids to maybe possibly keep their minifigures better organized. And I mounted it just high enough that my son can't reach the top three rows yet. That way I can put the expensive ones up there. Ya know, the ones the wife says "you gave him what to play with? You could have sold that for $50! What were you thinking? "1 point

"Timing is everything". This line seemed to be in the spotlight right after the market "peaked" from my observation. Lord of the Rings theme is a very interesting one, and for no particularly good reason I'll toss in my 2 cents: I think a lot of collectors/investors assumed this would be a slam dunk, as it seemed to target the market we covet - Geeky types with extra money. I also think this theme retired RIGHT AROUND the time the "secret" about LEGO investing started getting out, which meant increasing competition and lower profits around the board. The line also gets a bit of a bad rep, since people expected to do SO WELL, anything less is considered a disappointment. But like many sets/themes, if you bought at 50% discount, every single set from the LOTR line (except for 79008 Pirate Ship Ambush) will at least double your money. And even 79008 should make someone a decent profit if purchased at 50%. For some, it took 2-3 years instead of 1-2, but that is the new normal. I don't consider Helm's Deep or this line at all to be a loser. Not every set from every line is a winner. Similarly, The Hobbit line is full of mostly winners. Goblin King Battle and Mirkwood Spiders are the worst performers but will still make you money. Almost every other set will have doubled your buy in at 50% after 2-3 years. Not too shabby. This line really came and went at a turning point in LEGO investing, and in general, the profits have been lower and the time to achieve them has been higher since. The Tower of Orthanc also as the crown jewel, came out at a time where exclusives were no longer sure things and the profits weren't nearly worth the buy in and wait time. I put Monster Fighters and Haunted House in the same category, because these were great sets that have performed comparatively mediocre - when looking at the lines that retired the couples years before. I don't regret a single dollar I invested in either of these two themes, and I think the sets from both are fantastic quality and builds. They are kind of the "Shark Jumpers" in the world of LEGO investing however, and will be associated with that downturn. The numbers/ease just won't ever be where they once were, and that sticks in a lot of folks craws.1 point
