  2. So elkthunder became an instant legend at the estate sale today, buying the entire city. I was in the hunt for it but ultimately passed as I don't have the resources or space for such a massive collection. Can't believe he drove 8 hours for it and got it all!

  3. Finished it tonight. A load of extra pieces which made me a little concerned that I missed a step or two. However even with all the extra pieces I was still missing two 1x4 plates which I made due by replacing them with Lego branded parts. Overall the end model is quite stunning in it's sheer size. Part of me wants to cover up some studs on the saucer section but it's a building block model and and not a studio model. The Warp Nacelles are my favorite part of the model. Wish there was a way to keep them lit up for more than a few seconds.

  8. This morning I sold a used / complete 4842 Hogwarts Castle for $305/shipped on eBay. I purchased it a couple of weeks ago for $150 off of my local Offerup. I also purchased a used / complete 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge for $150 from the same person. The Hogwarts covers the cost of my initial buy in on this transaction, so whatever I sell the Queen Anne for will be pure gravy. I love finding local deals like these, as few and far between as they are.

  9. I love deep discounts on retired Lego. The Duplo boxes are dinged up, but at 75% off I'll take it. BAM 10% member discount and $25 off $100 membership coupon.

  10. Funny because I live about 20 minutes from the place, and figured I could get her to lower the price a bit - nope! I ended up getting a few nice custom sets a built falling water, trains, train stations, Big Ben sealed, un building sealed, minifigures, some old game boy games, some board games, and paid up for it 600 bucks! Had to fight to get her down from 815! After elks transaction, I guess she thought all the sets are tons of money. Quite a mess in my house right now

  14. I didn't get to post yesterday, but I picked up the Snowspeeder and R2 online as an early Father's Day gift and then hit the Lego Store to spend some gift cards. I picked up Slave I (I have decided I will never find a discount) and Yoda here decided that she also wanted a "rocket ship." I love that she is getting into all of this with me!

  23. I'm sure elkthunder will have a good story when he gets home tonight- he's probably still there packing up. Must have gotten about 30 modulars- about 1/2 are custom. The layout was amazing, but I didn't have time to admire it.

  25. Maybe I am alone here on this...maybe not, but after looking at my 10129 on my shelf for the last decade, I can safely say that this set does not excite me. Sorry to be a Party Pooper.

  31. I was finally in a position where I had money and could make a pilgrimage to the Salt Lake City Lego store to get this bad boy and finally build it. The one thing I want to say that seems a bit odd and bums me out a bit, is the fact that they use two rubber rings to connect the bottom portions of the wings. I wonder if to get the angle they had to go this way, or if there actually could be a way to keep it up without using the rings. Now I know some of you guys have whined about the old snowspeeder, but seriously this thing is beyond beautiful in person. It was a satisfying build and has some serious weight behind it. For those that are on the fence, just fork over the money and buy it!

  33. 150 elements and 40 stickers... overly cringed. took me almost 90min to finish this one because of those freaking stickerz. Other than that great little build for fairly good price. Great little details for such scale. (huge F1 fan here)

  35. Nice video share @Pseudoty jang's video's shows how just how much detail was paid to this model by lego. E.g. The underside, very small gaps when different angled plates come together. My only 2 gripes are related : amount of stickers & the stickers used on the wings. I understand why they used stickers on the model. Secondary, Lego white brick color is more like "arctic white" (aka off-white or dull white) used on car. These stickers shouidn't have had bright white backgrounds as I doesn't match and the bricks will lose some of his brightness / fade over time to make then unintended contrast more. I attached a marker up picture. nevertheless, this model is a winner in terms of design. I think 1-2 year demand of it at retail will be between the UCS Tie and Slave 1. Thus there a good chance we'll see it discounted online. Doubt will it be discounted as much at the Tie but who knows...

  39. LEGOLAND California and Florida, depending upon who you know and more importantly, how you treat them, can be nice to the resellers. Sales are sales. Don't overdo it, don't be a check, stay a little under the radar, and it's good. So yeah, it can be typical as long as you're nice about it.

  41. Have you dealt with this customer before? Do they have good feedback? Have they left good feedback for others? If they look legitimate then I don't think there should be an issue. Just be aware however anytime you accept paypal and they use a credit card for payment they can dispute the transaction within the next 180 days with their credit card bank. All they have to say is you shipped them an empty box and you have no recourse whatsoever. Their credit card bank will get the money back from paypal and then paypal will debit your attached bank account or credit card without any warning or send you to collections if neither has the funds available. Judging feedback is critical in these situations. If it is for just one crawler and they have a good history on BL the risk is very small so I would say go for it. If it is for over $1k worth of sets and you don't know them then ask them to wire you the money instead and do not accept paypal or any other credit card processor. Personally I have sold a boatload of crawlers to known customers in Honk Kong via Paypal without issue. Even then I make sure they pay as a personal payment so they cannot claim a SNAD case and make sure they use available funds so they cannot do a chargeback. The international market is so much better to sell to than North America but make sure to do your research and always expect the worst from every transaction. Hong Kong has an open port so no need to make bogus claims of gifts on your customs documents. Declare full value and insure for full value.
