  1. Paid a few pounds for this 1960s set at a local Car Boot Sale. Not sure of its value (Bricklink has one without the booklet for £15 but can't find it elsewhere). Really interesting box and booklet. Everyone else was haggling over low-end Star Wars sets.

i demand HP remakes, i cant keep paying you folks these ridiculous prices.... sharks.

Exactly. On topic... Why are people so surprised with a new carousel set? With the Mixer and Ferris Wheel and this "Fairground/Carnival" subtheme, it was only a matter of time. Yes, it does suck for resellers and investors, but it was not completely unexpected. Yes, it does hurt the market, but LEGO won't remake all major sets. The Chinese might, though..LOL. The LEGO secondary is changing and what worked for years, won't work as well or at all now. We can all sit around and moan and complain about it and talk about the "good ole' days" or we can come up with new strategies and ideas. Your choice...
  5. The listing title is clickbait and misleading - I´d guess that´s why.

I think many people are still finding creative and lucrative ways to make money with LEGO reselling, it just doesn't seem like buying the large, expensive, D2C/ exclusives and stashing them away for a few years is the pathway any longer. For the record, I'm really hoping I'm wrong on this. As a guy who's 75% collector vs. 25% reseller, I want all those big, expensive sets I have sitting on the shelf to keep increasing in value.

This really screws the folks that bought the original in the past couple of years for top dollar. They won't make that mistake again, which is bad news for all of us.
  9. 4 points
From the article it just said "carousel" not re release, we really don't know what, if anything, is coming here. The argument that Lego can never refresh a set is tiresome, they've done like three Ferris Wheels, each better that its predecessor, at least 3 Maersk ships, don't even get me started on Star Wars or police or fire stations. It's been a decade, it's time for a new one.
  10. I missed the first DB, I have the second. But will wait to crack it open to see what the new one looks like. Let's true to avoid the doom and gloom remake talk that seems to follow every potential remake LEGO seems to be doing right now, lol
  11. Success as mentioned in target clearance thread Full case in back Never put out 30 clearance polys 0.39 each
  12. I think that's the best reason why it's getting flagged. Could be a competitor doing it. But no one likes a misleading title.

Yeah, sometimes it is hard to draw the line at what is a plain reissue and what is a remake/reboot (with visual or under-the-skin improvements). For me, 42041, 75105 mF , 75159 DS and 10249 WTS fall into the first category and should therefore be despised by resellers. Other stuff like 75059 Sandcrawler, 75144 Snowspeeder, 10252 Beetle and the architecture sets really are improvements that collectors would probably be happy to own as well as the original. 10240 Red 5 falls somewhere in between the two. I agree with @KShine that it´s the buyers´ perception that matters. If they perceive that Lego are consistently making the sets they missed out on available again then they are less likely to pay top dollar for the older one. It´s a vicious circle as then the prices go down and the previously warranted justification to their significant other for dropping a 4 figure sum on one set - that Lego never loses value, also loses credence.

  16. Managed to snag myself a bargain due to the remake. Also in mint conditions as well as box and instructions in impeccable condition. No yellowing of bricks as well. Will still be getting the remake but may not necessarily be a day 1 purchase now.

Just listed an ultra rare #4000015 LOM employee exclusive set for auction. This hasn't come up for sale anywhere in nearly a year, so if you must have this for your collection, now is your chance!http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/152520862611?
  18. Yeah, this is getting ridiculous. Why couldn´t they just make Cole´s Police Station or Jay´s Jedi Starfighter?
  19. Just what I needed, another Destiny's Bounty.

That's the key point to the entire secondary market. If LEGO thought they could continue their profitable pace by reissuing every major set, they would have done so. They realize people want NEW and BETTER. That is what enables them to remain current. They not only want a new UCS Falcon, but a better one. I am in that boat. So are most LEGO fans.
  21. Looks like Brickset put up the names within the last day. 70606 Spinjitzu Training 70607 Ninjago City Chase 70608 Master Falls 70609 Manta Ray Bomber 70611 Water Strider 70612 Green Ninja Mech Dragon 70614 Lightning Jet 70615 Fire Mech 70617 Temple of The Ultimate ? 70618 Destiny's Bounty

Someone created a pretty nifty search tool for finding heads / torsos / legs based on descriptive characteristics. If you are ever at a loss for identifying a figure part, check out this site. The figure searches are in the center of the page. http://goatleg.com

You can check into making a private group for this. I'm sure we don't need a visible thread for general members with pages and pages of gloom and doom. Get a room!

Since this thread is about a set that is a rumor, that can't be seen/evaluated based on it's attributes, and we are primarily a group of people who invest in LEGO - I am not so sure that these discussions can (or should) be avoided. I would actually love to see and have a beautifully updated Carousel set.
  25. We appreciate all the help, but please search for existing threads before creating new ones. There is already a Series 17 thread.
  26. Harrison is a good actor but i don't know if you can credit him as an "entire cast"
  27. I think he may have been referencing Rogue One.
  28. Reviving this old thread, as finding gems at my local LS is my latest obsession. Some recent finds of mine have been: Surgeon Head Trendsetter Head Sea Captain Cap Gamer Guy Torso Thespian Torso Sea Captain Torso Snake Charmer's Cobra White Ruffle Punk Rocker Torso Clown Horn DJ Legs I'm learning a ton about minifigure part values from combing through the bins. Many times I've left the store only to find out after cruising BL, I left the real gold behind. I'm still clueless about the what I think are Ninjago heads that I keep seeing and passing on. There's a lot of scowling scraggly sideburned heads at my local store. I took this picture today. Any one know what the three heads on the right are? I figured out the left two are the Artist and Snake Charmer.
  29. Won't stack online with 30OFFLEGO...in store perhaps? EDIT: Doesn't appear to be live on TRU.com yet...
  30. Not everyone is excited about these. I bought the mintiest one and left the rest. I'll come back in a couple weeks.
  31. Used $30 ebay bucks to buy Whitehouse 21006 from TRU ebay store. Currently limited availability there and priced at $59.99 ($10 above retail I think) After my ebay bucks and tax my cost was $33 http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-Architecture-The-White-House-21006-/361960680687?hash=item544689acef:g:11wAAOSwRUhY-7oz
  32. They have separate buttons for 'Price match' and 'Price adjustment'. There's only 2 reasons they should ever do a price adjustment. One is if the product was sitting in the wrong spot on the shelf so it appears to be cheaper than it is. The second is if the in-store price is not matching the TRU website price. Some stores will balk at even doing this. All other price matching is just that; a price match. Price matching kills all other discounts/coupons except 10% CC on Thursdays. If they say it kills that as well, best practice is to simply call the credit card company and hand your phone to the manager and let them talk to him/her.
  33. I have been on record saying I don't like this set. Saw this built and on display at the LEGO Store this week. Like many others - my mind has been changed. This is a damn fine ship. I felt the same way about The Sea Cow, for what that's worth.
  34. @ Walmart 2x Elves Shadow Castle - $40 ea 2x Buildable SGT Jyn Erso - $9 ea @ Walgreens Buildable K-2s0 - $12.99 Buildable death trooper - $12.99 8x series 4 mixels - $2.59 ea
  35. I'm back from a nice little trip to Venice (Italy) and the Adriatic Sea. I browsed some shops and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this: (I don't know if it's visible, but the brown LEGO shipping box contained a 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon and there's a 10189 Taj Mahal, too.) And that selection was only the tip of the iceberg, they had almost every historic set. It was like a LEGO museum on the seafront of a small beach town. So I maxed out my credit cards and bought them all, right? Wrong! I guess they had all those sets because their prices were straight from Cloud cuckoo land. For example 10181 Eiffel Tower was € 4,990, 10187 VW Beetle was € 2,990 and 76042 Helicarrier was € 550. Insane! So I had to settle for these little souvenirs: (4) 75134 Galactic Empire Battle Packs @ 60 % discount (relatively scarce in Germany) (12) 41171 Emily Jones & the Baby Wind Dragon and (6) 41178 The Dragon Sanctuary @ 20 % discount (very scarce in Germany)
  36. Creator: United Flight Experience?
  37. In 3 years they might re-release the poly with the redhead girl breakdancing or something
  38. Save them for 3 years and you might get $10 for them.
  39. The only other thing I remember was the tentative set number was not in the Fairground theme sequence but in the Disney Castle sequence so I was thinking Tea Cups or Disney World Carousel Update From Tragic Banjo: June 1st is indeed the release date. No VIP early access as far as I know, and I also don't know when it will be officially announced. I'm assuming it'll be soon, since it's likely to be pictured on the June calendar.
  40. Usual suspects at TRU couldn't pass up Nexo at 60% off. Boscovs had 20% of select themes today Friends elves SW and more Emma's was marked down to $59.98 so $47
  41. The set list I saw in early March had it slated for the fall with no price as I posted in the Fairground thread. Not sure why the bump up maybe they didn't want to do back to back months with remakes.
  42. I have a better title for this thread: "Phil B Phil B Phil B Phil B Phil B"
  43. Yes. As a BL noob myself, I say: Give the noobs a break. BL is confusing for first-timers to buy on. I recently saw one BL seller clearly explain it in his flash page, or maybe under shipping policy, something to the effect of: "If you (as a buyer) are concerned about shipping cost, please place the items in your basket, and then click Request a Quote. I will provide you with an accurate quote including shipping, usually within 24 hours. At that point you can place the order, or not. It is much easier than placing the order, getting the invoice, then cancelling the order..." Until I saw it spelled out by this seller, I didn't know this was an option.
  44. Ended up just buying 2 sets from Ebay for basically retail price plus some ebay bucks. This might be the first time I don't buy any blind bags.
  45. I think you made a good decision not to. The chameleon was at Meijer a couple months ago. And both have been out at LLCA for over a month now.
  46. I like your way of thinking. It will be used for work purposes. My accountant agrees as well. By which I mean...me.
  47. As with most Lego promotions, you must spend a required amount of money to get the 'free' item. Many folks also use promotion stacking on http://shop.lego.com which is the process of spending just enough money to earn multiple promotional items. After waiting too long to order products at shop.lego.com to obtain the popular 40252 Mini VW Beetle promotion (sold-out online), I visited my local Lego mall store. This store had current promotional sets available including 40252 and the 40265 LEGO Friends Tic Tac Toe set. The purchase requirements were to spend $50+ for the VW Beetle set and $20+ in Friends items for the Tic Tac Toe polybag. Both are popular items and make nice child Easter gifts (especially for my 2 children). While paying, I was told my $62 ($21 of that for Friends items) worth of Lego products wasn't enough to cover both promotional items. The cashier told me their store were given strict rules to enforce around promotional items and I needed to pick one. I ended up going home with the 40252 Mini VW Beetle set. After arriving home, I double-checked if Lego's web site still allowed promotion stacking. It did after added one $59.99 Friends set in my cart. Both Tic Tac Toe and City Helicopter (replacement for the sold-out VW) promotional items were in my cart. I then read a 40252 Mini VW Beetle review where MeganL from brickset mentioned she was able to get both promotions by "doubling up" at a Lego store. http://brickset.com/article/27432 To further determine whether my experience was a mistake or an unannounced in-store change, I contacted Lego customer phone support today. The nice representative informed me that other customers have called with the same question after being denied at their store. At least one store manager told this same representative she was given rules to deny promotions stacking. Her customers could only receive both promotions if they spent $20+ on Friends items plus another $50+ on more Friends or another theme. Please let us know how your local Lego store is currently handling promotion stacking and if it's different than past months. Disclaimer: Not all U.S stores may follow the new rule regarding promotion stacking. Lego's online website, https://shop.lego.com/ automatically stack promotions in the shopping cart before order check-out. Additionally, some stores haven't allowed promotion stacking since their grand opening.
  48. Check these out: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=lego+silent+mary+comparison I've still haven't got round to building mine, but i think it will look ok against QAR, but not the BP. I'm going to mod my BP with an extra hull part, should be easy enough.
