Or you can get an awesome customer service experience. I'm visiting New York, so naturally I had to go to the Rockefeller store (which BTW is a lot smaller than I was expecting). I browse but I'm not planning on buying much since 1) NYC markup and 2) no room in suitcase so I just grabbed the souvenir Statue of Liberty magnet figure with the NYC tile. I see they are still giving out mini VW's so I ask if I can just buy one. The clerk scanned my VIP card and saw I had $30 in points and was impressed by how much I spent to get $30. He said "I see you buy a lot from us so I'm going to go ahead and give you one". Made my day, and I'm already a Lego fan. So I agree, its YMMV on the promos, but the PR value of doing something nice for a customer goes a long way. Just ask United Airlines where putting company policy in front of customer service got them!4 points

It is spring break here in the East and yesterday my family and I spent the day at Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg, MD. It was a wonderful day that was full of history, exploration and was largely technology free! The last shot is Bloody Lane where thousands of Confederate and Union soldiers died on September 17, 1862. While we there we met a man from North Carolina who was there to visit where a relative perished there. It was the least I could do when I took a picture for him.3 points

Absolutely. Anyone can call out a better alternative two years down the road, but the LEGO Movie was all the rage when it came out and really boosted sales of LEGO at the time. It was also when we saw a spike in the number of resellers entering the market so there was massive hoarding that helped keep prices down post retirement.2 points

Probably worth noting that the Lego Movie 2 has been pushed back twice now, into 2018. When people loaded up on 50% Benny’s in ‘14/’15 that wasn’t the plan.2 points

That's what gets me about this set, I love it, not just like it, or very fond of it, I actually love it. And if a kid comes into our house and sees it, they go mad for it, not any of the other sets dotted around, they instantly want to play with it. This is so much better than buying another X-Wing, or another Falcon, and I love both of those ships, this was such a cool set and such a throwback to the 80's Space.2 points

I couldn't help myself...it was too easy. I've got nothing against him. He gave the Pack one solid year. I've got his jersey, and my kids named our cat Lacy (female cat and Packer related name). Now that he's moved on to Seattle I have to rename the damn cat. Anyway, in regards to the original post...at just over $1.00 a figure you can't lose too much, but I don't see any figures that really stand out, so personally I would pass. I don't part out though so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.2 points

I consider the Lego Movie to be a pretty iconic movie, and having 2 young boys, I see firsthand how it's a movie kids like to watch often. My oldest is 7 and saw it when it was released, and now my 4 year old loves it too. And it's not just my family, who might be a little Lego obsessed because of me, but it's many kids their age. I was just at someone's house yesterday for work installing a door in a 9 year olds room and he had a Lego batman movie poster on the wall and an Emmet pillow case. There's not much promise for sets like Creative Ambush, but for some of the big sets like Benny's I think there is potential for a long time. It's taken awhile to rise in price because there's so many out there and the kids that were of age at the time may already have it if their parents could afford it. But there's new kids being made everyday! Some of them will want this set. Some of their siblings may already have one. Some won't be able to afford it until they're older. I only have 3 or 4 that I got pretty cheap so I don't mind waiting to see if it gets to $200 someday. Also will be interesting to see what the sequel does. Benny could have a bigger role or not be in the movie at all. There could be a remake of the set or there could be something totally different. As for fans of classic space wanting this, I would think they all already have it. There's not going to be many more classic space fans coming out of their dark ages anymore.1 point

There are still plenty pieces in bricklink under RRP, which is horrible for the set which 2 years after EOL. Even bought with some discount (EUR 65), it is hard to be in reasonable profit. For me it is a big disappointment - this set is not just for Lego Movie fans, but also for classic space lovers, because (without figs) its the biggest and most beautiful classic space ship. Also based on this, Batman Movie sets have ZERO investment potential for me. This movie is a fail, nobody will remember it after some weeks, and there is PLENTY other batman sets on the market, not connected with the movie. Maybe in USA it can have some success, but I cannot imagine who can buy these sets after 1-2-3 years.1 point

True, but the little packs are the best deal (outside of the $1 bonanza) I think everything else is at most 50% off which can be found elsewhere. But elsewhere there's stacking bonuses to improve on the 50%.1 point

I'm in Canada visiting family for Passover - stopped at a Lego store and got Joker and Batman Brickheadz along with the Y Wing and U Wing Microfighters. Because of the price in Toronto it broke the $50 canadian barrier and I also got a Beetle Promo set. With the US Exchange rate I ended up getting all of that for about $43.50 American.1 point

Found a lonely 21120 Minecraft: The Snow Hideout in my normal Kroger (not "Marketplace"). Shelftag said $18.74, but checkout said $27.99. Turned out the price-tag was for something else, but they gave it to me for that price anyway. Would have been a 54% discount if LEGO didn't pull a Hot Air Balloon on this one and lowered the MSRP from the original $39.99 to $34.99 a while ago. Still 47% off though ...1 point
