10 years...10 years have gone by since the original in 2007. Did anyone really think this would be the Holy Grail of kits forever and LEGO would 'honor resellers as the kit soared to $10,000'? HA! I can't believe it took LEGO this long for a remake. I sold my last one two years ago sometime before The Force Awakens. LEGO didn't 'do it to hurt resellers'. They did it to make money. Disney bought Lucas Arts to make money. How old is Mickey Mouse? Nearly 90yrs old, and Disney successfully lobbies Congress to extend US copyright laws every single time Mickey's copyright is about to expire. Also Disney has publicly stated there will be a new Star Wars movie every two years. Do you think that means new starships and new characters every movie? Disney will rehash and rewrite the original characters a million times for 90yrs, just like Mickey, until Han Solo's great great great great great great-grandchildren are flying the Milennium Falcon, and LEGO will follow suit on the gravy train and rerelease the Falcon in all forms and themes. Heh...LEGO has been re-releasing Star Wars starships, vignettes and characters many times over even before Disney bought Lucas Arts and started the turning the wheels on the bi-annual cash machine. If anyone thinks any Star Wars UCS kit is sacred and off limits to be reproduced, then you are in for a cruel eye opener.
  2. I was working on the Price Guide update yesterday, hopefully should have it updated tonight or tomorrow at the latest.
  3. Easter Win What You Want sweeps is a $1 doorbuster right now. Also, check your recent VIP Shop Your Way email - I got a $25 back on $60 coupon on one of my accounts (the other got another $10 back on $50).
  4. This isn't about the 10179 - Most complainers here are concerned (and should be concerned) about the continued loss of faith in the perception of value, in general. When nothing is special, nothing is special - and LEGO is just another expensive, disposable, plastic toy.
  5. In honor of our recent trip to the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama and in anticipation of the new Saturn V launch in June, my daughter and I built this classic model.
  6. Found an unopened 3 pack of bionicles from 2002 / 2003 (8566, 8587, 8588) at a local op shop for $15.
  7. Awesome idea here is my homemade display case for my mini figures I made this weekend
  8. Additionally, there isn't a lot of demand for most of those sets. It would be hard to move a good number of those.
  9. just finished my new Caterham 7 (21307). Its a lovely build. I particularly loved how the rear wheel arches came together
  10. I'm surprised at the high number of exclusions on their site. It feels pretty random to me. They had a bunch of completely sold out stuff listed too on sale. Seems like a waste to offer a sale on Obi-Wan Jedi starfighter
  11. Nope, but they'll add a cheese slope
  12. Haven't updated in a bit either, but had to report I just sold my last 75053 - The Ghost for $225 and 60057 - Camper Vans for $55, FBA
  13. Will they update the minifigs at some point?
  14. Time for some updates - the last two weeks have been crazy in terms of sales. Of course my discovery of FBA helped (moved 30 sets in 2 weeks), but somehow also my EBay sales picked up at the same time. Guess that's tax refund time for you :). Some highlights: FBA: 7x 41074 Azari and the Magical Bakery - $44 (buy-in $18 after tax) 5x 41035 Heartlake Juice Bar - $35 (buy-in $9 after tax) 2x 70151 Chima Speedorz Frozen Spikes - $16 (buy-in $4 after tax. ROI exactly 100% after all fees and taxes) - YEAH, I SELL CHIMA FOR PROFIT! BO/BL: 1x 41074 Azari and the Magical Bakery - $35 (buy-in $18 after tax) 1x 75046 Coruscant Police Gunship - $80 (buy-in $37 after tax) EBay: 1x 21118 Minecraft The Mine - $159 (buy-in $57 after tax), but with $10 FVF promo - my last one, I had to lower my price a bit after the selling frenzy over the holidays but the promo covered most of the difference. 1x Christmas Bundle consisting of 40222 Christmas Calendar + 40223 Snow Globe + 30474 Reindeer poly - $73 (buy-in $1.86, take-home profit after all fees and taxes $54)
  15. Don't know codes, but I have a dummy Twitter account that I use just for DB purposes if I have already used my single entry for the day.
  16. I worked there one summer in college as a Space Camp counselor. Such a cool place. Also, had quite a bit of fun after hours with the other 100 college kids from around the country who found themselves stuck in Huntsville for a summer
  17. I posted his last week but someone tried to gain access to my account . So glad I signed up for the two step verification system prior to that .. highly recommend everyone does that , takes a min saves you hours if not months of headache .
  18. If you think gullible buyers are the only ones buying these things, I've got a bridge to sell you. I would wager it's much more complicated than take your $10 and run. In the right circles, you can buy thousands of stolen credit cards for pennies per number. However not everyone can make fake cards to use at retail stores and online shops are getting better checkout systems that use the CCV and other two factor authentication (CCV plus an online password for example). Not to mention cash is better than using a fakes chip card for $50 in groceries to these asshats. I wouldn't be surprised if these d.i.c.k.s are setting up hundreds of fake listings across many different products and making random purchases with their stolen cards (guest checkout may have been a boon for some, but i believe it lets you pay with a CC). As buyers of their own listings they won't be filing any cases with eBay and PayPal. By the time the general public finds the listings and buys the rest, they've already cut bait and run. If I've thought of it, the dirt bags have too.
  19. I picked up Metalbeard's Sea Cow (minus Queasy Kitty) for $125. I've been wanting to build one for quite a while but couldn't justify buying a new one to open and build at current market prices.
  20. Exactly. if the grand-daddy of them all isn't untouchable, none of them are untouchable, and meteoric prices are no longer achievable. (some would argue meteoric price increases were already extinct due to all of us doing this on a public forum, but I digress). However, it also stands to reason they're much more likely to re-do sets that have more intrinsic popularity. The B-Wing isn't a likely re-do. So how many sets are truly impacted? Here's how all our brick folio's are about to be impacted if this truly comes to fruition. I wanted this Falcon set, bad. And can afford to spend 1500-2500 on a logo set. I considered it on several occasions. That was back when I knew I was never going to get one at retail for 500-800. Once I suspected I might (redo winter series, redo Death Star, redo Snow Speeder UCS) , I decided I was not going to pay 2500, nor 2000, nor 1500 for a really nice used copy. I was willing to wait. Now all UCS sets have that mindset. Heck, any super desirable set is. If you dispute the importance of the 10179 in Lego investing, well.............
  21. Why do I feel like we have just been scolded??

  26. Nah, my wife brought her leash.
  27. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait right there. Did you say you're on your way to Florida? Sound the alarm boys! We got a major Picker entering our territory. @Tigereyes cut him off before he gets too deep. @legotemplar get your goons ready. We're gonna need some muscle. He's a major player.
  28. I'm banned from LEGO Shop at Home but I still use my VIP card to collect and use the points at the brick and mortar store..
  29. Nope, fresh from the case.
  30. I believe Amazon has been redirecting all of quidsi's inventory to amazon for some time. They purchased the business to suck it dry of all their wholesale contacts and brands. I don't believe yoyo, soap, wag, diapers etc will be selling on Amazon rather Amazon will be selling all of the brands and items quidsi had access to (which it was already doing for Lego anyway). Lots of brands refuse to do business with Amazon so Amazon just buys companies that already have relationships with those brands and muscle their way in.
  31. i was banned LEGO Shop at Home. still able to use and accumulate points at the store. i buy very less these days so points are not a problem. last redemption was for the disney castle
  32. Great. It must be nice to believe that LEGO is lowering their prices
  33. I felt like target was trying to tell me something. I also passed on two of the amusement parks with the bogo 40. Did I make a mistake? Or is Target right?
  34. That is a huge benefit, IMHO, setting LEGO apart from Mega Bloks or various other toys under Mattel brand. It seems like LEGO is ok with letting go that benefit to become just another toy company. Sacrificing collectible aspect that was cultivated after a long period in favor of immediate profit is the definition of short term. There is no way around that. Agreed. LEGO dug their own hole by increasing their price per brick across the board in 2016

The price discrepancy between FBA and eBay on some sets is almost to the point where you could buy the set on eBay and immediately flip it on Amazon. The Ghost has been available for <= $150 pretty reliably over the past month. There was an auction on NISB 75053 that ended at $106 on 4/6.
  36. Already posted many times this is not going to fully retire. Maybe won't be available in us but through a few good sources will always be available in London which will make it hard to fully rise
  37. Swap out the black mask for a red one and we'll have a decent The Shadow Minifig.
  38. 1 point
Wow this is the kind of Display I would like to build!
  39. Plenty here in stock
  40. Full alert! Exciter1 is coming to the state. LordofLego too I decide to take a break from shopping for a month and my fellow BPers raid my state, even my own coast. Where's the love, the respect? At least they told me they're coming. Better an arrow in the heart, than a knife in the back...
  41. Active as of tomorrow 4/9. I have my purchase and $17 in rewards lined up - will report back
  42. Detail on this set is immense. Not surprising that it's a classic and a must have for any modular collector.
  43. Picked this up a few weeks ago, finally pulled myself away from Zelda long enough to build it last night. I have built several HP sets but this is the first time doing one from the original run of sets. I really like the alternate build ideas at the back of the instruction book. They should still be doing that. The old flip box is solid too. The minifigs are a little primitive compared to the newer HP stuff but overall it's a nice set.
  44. I contemplated the 60150 Pizza Van for its ubiquity and appeal for some time now. Yet I cannot bring myself to pull the trigger. How I curse the struggle and spit on the desire. For is there not slight temptation to buy one and get one 40% off? My empty wallet laughs mockingly as my credit cards struggle to free themselves. Not today, Amazon. Find another prey for your lures! Today belongs to ME!
  45. Just finished building this set. Bought it today mainly for the free beetle. Build was okay I guess, nothing special. My favourite part was how the front windows snapped in. Had quite a few spare parts, so hopefully I didn'tmiss something. It costs $100cad, which in my opinion is overpriced for this small set.
