My pocketbook hurts after my last two purchases: 75137 Carbon Freezing Chamber - $0.00 (ok, $15.58 before tax and SYW rewards points) 41118 Heartlake Supermarket - $0.29 (ok, $19.29 before tax and Meijer Rewards) My current KMart points streak is still going strong, but as of now I have purchased $461 of LEGO (MSRP) for $177 plus $15 in points earned thru Fandango (all other points are internally generated in the system by playing Sweeps and using points back coupons - an average of 62% off of MSRP. All small sets, a total of 21 sets, most of it 2017 releases. This is just the last month (since beginning of March). Love that store7 points

Detail on this set is immense. Not surprising that it's a classic and a must have for any modular collector.5 points

http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-ideas-teases-more-of-apollo-11-saturn-v-rocket/ \ LEGO has teased another image from the LEGO Ideas Apollo 11 Saturn-V Rocket set but this time it is the Apollo Lunar Module sitting in the background. Last week, part of the Saturn-V Rocket was shown off so it looks like LEGO is staying true to the project and including everything so far that was proposed. The LEGO Ideas Apollo 11 Saturn-V Rocket will be landing soon in June.5 points

was in Vienna today so I went to Lego shop see if they had left anything since January sales, found nothing but I bought Silent Mary after realizing it is 3x VIP time (200€ retail + 30€ in points + mini beetle promo, the set is 220€ in CZE), I thought it was not that bad price so I later went to the other Lego shop there and bought another one ?3 points

"Timing is everything". This line seemed to be in the spotlight right after the market "peaked" from my observation. Lord of the Rings theme is a very interesting one, and for no particularly good reason I'll toss in my 2 cents: I think a lot of collectors/investors assumed this would be a slam dunk, as it seemed to target the market we covet - Geeky types with extra money. I also think this theme retired RIGHT AROUND the time the "secret" about LEGO investing started getting out, which meant increasing competition and lower profits around the board. The line also gets a bit of a bad rep, since people expected to do SO WELL, anything less is considered a disappointment. But like many sets/themes, if you bought at 50% discount, every single set from the LOTR line (except for 79008 Pirate Ship Ambush) will at least double your money. And even 79008 should make someone a decent profit if purchased at 50%. For some, it took 2-3 years instead of 1-2, but that is the new normal. I don't consider Helm's Deep or this line at all to be a loser. Not every set from every line is a winner. Similarly, The Hobbit line is full of mostly winners. Goblin King Battle and Mirkwood Spiders are the worst performers but will still make you money. Almost every other set will have doubled your buy in at 50% after 2-3 years. Not too shabby. This line really came and went at a turning point in LEGO investing, and in general, the profits have been lower and the time to achieve them has been higher since. The Tower of Orthanc also as the crown jewel, came out at a time where exclusives were no longer sure things and the profits weren't nearly worth the buy in and wait time. I put Monster Fighters and Haunted House in the same category, because these were great sets that have performed comparatively mediocre - when looking at the lines that retired the couples years before. I don't regret a single dollar I invested in either of these two themes, and I think the sets from both are fantastic quality and builds. They are kind of the "Shark Jumpers" in the world of LEGO investing however, and will be associated with that downturn. The numbers/ease just won't ever be where they once were, and that sticks in a lot of folks craws.3 points

LL FL is known for there stickers. Even when ordering by case most of time they have been preopened with stickers applied. The hair dryer and a scotty peeler takes them off fine. Still have nightmares of the 250 Birthday Cakes that had them.3 points

Two other Target exclusives...The Zombies and The Orc Forge. The Zombies was very under the radar and had a very short run. Huge success if you targeted or lucked into this set. The Orc Forge was all the rage back in the day. Many were stockpiling at RRP since it wasn't discounted much, myself included. Dr. Strange seems to fall somewhere in the middle. Which way will it go? I never bought any Zombies. It was never discounted and then disappeared before I knew it. I had approximately thirty Orc Forges, mainly bought on the hype from BP and the success of the Zombies. I'm down to six, making a little on each one. I'm going with twenty Dr. Strange, just in case. All bought this past week during the current sale at 24% off after red card.3 points

I apparently won the buy box overnight on 40121 Easter, and Amazon sold more than I had. Maybe the velocity was too fast for the inventory tracker to keep up. Does anyone have 2 copies that they would be willing to drop ship for me tomorrow for $30/ea.? Please PM me if you can help. Thx.1 point

Are the sites not loading or is it just their "universal profile" which is giving you a hard time? I have this sporadically and what I find is that if I pound the "Sign On" button a few times, give it 15 minutes to calm down, and then try again, it will work. Typically at that point it will show me a numbers CAPTCHA which it didn't show before, and things work again.1 point

I wondered this myself, and my store told me 2 days. This seemed a little short, but she said call and they will put a note on it to hold until further date. I've let items sit up to a week before picking up with no issue (and I never call). IMO they don't have the manpower to be checking the dates daily.1 point

Picked this up a few weeks ago, finally pulled myself away from Zelda long enough to build it last night. I have built several HP sets but this is the first time doing one from the original run of sets. I really like the alternate build ideas at the back of the instruction book. They should still be doing that. The old flip box is solid too. The minifigs are a little primitive compared to the newer HP stuff but overall it's a nice set.1 point

Not a regular Kmart shopper but read about this round of clearances and decided to give it a shot (I had an old gift card I needed to use as well). I was able to come up with the following: 41077 Elves Aira Pegasus Sleigh x3 at $16.43 each 76020 Super Heroes Knowhere Escape Mission x2 at $20.14 each. 60067 City Helicopter Pursuit x2 at $20.14 each. 70144 Chima Laval Fire Lion x1 at $20.05 70223 Chima Icebite's Claw Driller x1 at $20.05 70746 Ninjago Condrai Copter x1 at $12.85 70747 Ninjago Boulder Blaster x2 at $12.85 each Lady at the register was nice enough to split into multiple transactions, so came away with additional $50 SYW bonus points.1 point

I bought quite a few sets during the >50% clearance sales at Walmart last year, I've bought a bunch of new/open/used sets off CL that I've flipped for profit, I've found recently retired sets in out-of-the-way stores like Ghost & Phantom pairs, and I've bought full used collections off CL. For example, I bought 13 large, used Technic sets off an AFOL in October for $700 and sold them all before Xmas on BL for about $1,200. There's a guy in town that I've bought from a couple times who gets beat up sets from Amazon Warehouse, I believe, that he sells pretty cheap, I bought an open box, sealed bag Tumbler, a beat up, sealed GE, minty Avenger Tower, and minty Quinjet for $400, which I sold the Tumbler for $300 on CL, the GE for $290, the tower for like $50, and still have the Quinjet (surprise). I travel a lot, so when I'm on the road I check Wal Marts and CL where I'm staying. I also found a used Cafe Corner at a garage sale for $80, which helped a lot.1 point
