Having pretty much exhausted my backlog of retired UCS sets I now need to turn to the current sets to continue building out my collection. I have to say despite the number of stickers this is a great build and looks great and I think this will do ok post retirement. Only time will tell.12 points

I was down in Florida visiting friends. I bring all the kids Lego. My buddy's kid Lincoln was supposed to build this T-Rex Tracker I brought him but I ended up doing 99% of it while he watched and played with the figures and T-Rex. He did only turn 5 a few months ago. He's on a Jurrassic World kick lately. He was looking for Indominus Rex Breakout next. I tried to explain JW Lego was retired.5 points

FBM sellers have definitely been targeted on large sets lately , that is a established fact if you read the forums here and on Amazon . One member here is now banned from selling on Amazon all together and a few are hanging by a thread . Calling that paranoia is an insult to those folks who have done nothing wrong aside from being unable to provide proof of authenticity .5 points

Picked this up day 1 and finally got around to finishing it. Gotta say i was all for this set at first with the idea that i'd put it with the rest of my ship fleet. However i found that it looks way too small and puny next to even the Black Pearl. The lack of sails really takes away from it's display value in a fleet imo. For $250 CAD i feel like it should at least look a bit more imposing than QAR/BP. The scale issues sort of bothers me, like the small doors on the deck that can't fit minifigures, and of course the small canons. And then we have this big bell on the deck that is minifig scale.. just makes it all seem jumbled. Even though i don't play with my sets; the lack of a captains quarters was disappointing. However on it's own like i have displayed below... i think it's actually really nice. It's fun to play around with the sails/masts and really give it a "ghost" look. Build was pretty fun, both sides of the ship were fairly different and not symmetrical. Bottom line: i like it, but only displayed on it's own away from the other ships.4 points

I was just mentioning yesterday that I'm on a Queen kick. I love that song (and the final album). I was just listening to it yesterday. As for their writing process - you should read about the writing of Under Pressure.3 points

Hey everyone, Cannot believe I just stumbled across this site and it's probably the best site I have come across in a long time. Amazing how many resources are here. My story with Lego is interesting, I had hundreds of them as a kid and then suddenly stopped collecting... My sets got all jumbled into large bins and I put them away. I even think one bin was donated (grrrr). Fast forward to me now (age 27) and I have been in the collection game for awhile (comics, art, prints, action figures, etc.... just not Legos) I love SDCC and love the thrill of getting exclusives, but for some reason I didn't ever go back to my Legos until the past couple of months. I have pulled all the bins out of storage and started organizing each set and figuring out what pieces I need to replace to complete some of them. I was collecting a lot from early 2000's like the first Star Wars, Adventure and Ninja sets. I do have a few old castle sets though that I am excited to organize. Now I find this amazing resource for investing and it seems it is all coming together. I know there was plenty of money to be made back then and 2017 is only that much more popular, but I'd still like to give this a shot. Looking forward to meeting people and re-exploring my long lost childhood nostalgia. Cheers! Scott2 points

we are at this moment planning our exit from amazon. while amazon has been great while it lasted but the level of fraud and buyer extortion has gone to the point that it has become overwhelmingly beyond tolerance level. [ its getting much higher than cost of doing business and the profit generated ]. there are two main things that started happening that are gearing us towards this direction: a. while seller-support were for dog-and-pony show somehow they used to be able to help present case to seller-performance during A-Z. b. they used to accept videos of packaging and item during packing process for certain level. including box dimensions. rfid tags. within last 2 week amazon decided that they would no longer accept i. video recording of packing and submission weight and dimensions of the carrier during any of the customer complaints. while they were reluctant in accepting rfid in the beginning they started accepting those. but now they seem to have reversed their course on that as well. ii. they would not remove feedbacks even when buyer has admitted to receiving what was listed but "they wanted expensive item". iii. they would side with buyer in cases where buyer would order 75055 and make a claim that wrong item was sent. they would respond they are expecting 10221. and amazon would grant in buyers favor for incorrect item sent. "return label doesn't matter" while its unfortunate when such things occur one has to take a step back and evaluate. and our decision has been to step away from amazon. it may be a good news [less competition] or bad news [ frauds will catch up to other sellers ] depending on which side of coin one will look.2 points

my metrics is a mess due to those scam as well. being a small seller, i have no way to sell 100+ item to make it right. i just sell as normal (4-5 sales a week, take off all expense item).... ignore the short period matrix being a mess. my matrix is back to normal now and no one from Amazon ever contact me about my matrix.2 points

It's not overhyped. It's not overhyped. My metrics are a mess from people claiming large sets were fake. Amazon refunded the buyers, did not charge me, but trashed my metrics. Makes no sense at all. Amazon is a mess right now. Check out all the fake listings for the Switch. Dozens, maybe hundreds listed for $150-200. I'm done selling there, at least in the near future. Sorry for thread derail.2 points

I think the Slave 1 is the closest to actual minifig scale of any of the UCS sets. Still a little small, but close.2 points

Since you started with the little details: The bench is too big. This is supposed to be a Hobbit bench, as they're sitting outside Bilbo's house. So you would expect that the bench is built to Bilbo's size, not to Gandalf's. So Bilbo would sit normally with feet on the ground, and Gandalf would look oversized.1 point

I feel like that's kind of a corporate cultural mindset. Doing good isn't good enough, quarter after quarter has to show growth. Instead of focusing on the quality that brought people in, they try to diversify and catch fads. If one of these new-ish things hits, they'll be golden. However we're not seeing demand increase, we're seeing the same buyers being more spread out. Instead of buying everything from one line, now, they're making decisions about whether to get a brickhead or a mighty micro or a constraction figure etc. The offerings in the main lines feel smaller and less complex, but they expect people to buy them because of a single minifigure. Prices are rising (looking at you Star Wars Battle packs) THe Star Wars line is full of sets that would have been $5 less just a few years ago. Super Heroes as well. I don't think it's trying to get the last dollar before the market crashes, I think it's misunderstanding the fanbase and their capacity to continue buying when they're trying to squeeze every penny out. Someone thinks that the LEGO train has just gotten started and doesn't see the chasm ahead that they're driving towards.1 point
