Been a while since I posted. Life has gotten busy and I am on the road less, so I have less free time... as strange as that may sound. Either way, technically didn't buy it today, But my parents are selling their house and I was cleaning out some old stuff and look what I found with my beanie babies and baseball cards.14 points

I finally got the chance to finish up the UCS Imperial Shuttle 10212 that I picked up used a while back. I really enjoyed the build and the finished product. It is as large as expected and the use of snot pieces makes its final look a lot cleaner than the IST. If you have been thinking about picking one up for your UCS or SW collection I highly recommend it! So...what should we build next? We have 10186 UCS General Grievous, 10198 Tantive IV Anniversary Edition, 75021 Republic Gunship, and 10227 UCS B-Wing Starfighter in the queue. Which do y'all recommend we start with? (I will be building it with my 6 and 8 year old.)13 points

Figured I'd update you guys. Just got off the phone with eBay (after 20 minute hold) so pretty straight forward. I explained what happen and they made me go online and request a refund. They said I'll have my money back by the 20th. I told them I have a picture of the envelope and she said they may email me asking for an upload. I asked if I would be updated with what happens and she said no because it's confidential. I asked if this was being handled like fraud and she said yes so that's good. I used the examples you guys posted and she said she's heard of this a lot lately. I don't want eBay to take the hit for someone's fraudulent activities. So I guess that's that. If anything else happens I'll let you guys know. Going to leave negative feedback now (for what that's worth) On a side note the guy never PMed me back and it's been 36 hours since his first "idk what's going on" PM.4 points

I suggest that you don't build the General Grievous with kids because it's a really flimsy build all the way to the end. B-Wing is a nice easy build for kids because it uses large bright pieces for the inside structure.2 points

KMART PROMOTION: SPEND $30 ON TOYS, GET $10 IN POINTS, IN-STORE SIGN THROUGH 7/29/17 I saw this in the store yesterday, pulled up the $5 off $35 coupon and made a few purchases. I had to call a SYW supervisor, but I did get my points today (shows "Pending"). The numbers look like this for me: $31.34 for 76034 Batman - The Batboat Harbour Pursuit + $4.99 small set = 36.33; Take $5 off = 31.33; Add $10 in points = $21.31 (41% off). After GC Discount + tax I was at $22.02... $19 for the Batboat Depending on the item prices you'll need to play with the purchase amounts to try to get as close to $35 or $50 to use the coupons. By default the $30 requirement is met with the use of the $35 coupon ($35-5=30). So if you max out the coupon (purchases of exactly 35 or 50) the respective theo maximum discounts are $35-5-10-.35 = 44% and $50-10-10-.50 = 41% It's KMart, so naturally they raised the prices on nearly all of the new sets, but the older active and retired sets were left unchanged. FINE PRINT (sorry, the pic isn't very clear) * The sign was in the store, but it did not mention that it was only for in-store purchases * The total must be at $30, before sales tax and after discounts, so discounts are basically encouraged * Excludes clearance items * It runs until 7/29 * On the SYW Order History page it reads "In select stores only" - so YMMV2 points

Pretty much this plus a few points. First, these big sets are not where Lego make their money. They make it selling hundreds of thousands of the smaller sets over and over again every season. Having a $600 UCS MF is a "look at the prestige of this toy company" kind of move. People keep talking as though the success of this or the Death Star has any noticeable impact on Lego's sales numbers. I'm guessing the impact is minimal, but the marketing campaign and foot traffic/publicity etc. is more than worth the trouble. Did you see how much good press they got just for saying yes to a set with women scientists? Second, there is a new generation of AFOLs with money that didn't have it then or that came out of their dark ages and won't pay the current 10179 prices (me). But this is 100% a day-1 purchase for me and several other people I know that don't have 10179 and will never pay $2000+ for that set, let alone the current going rate. So all you naysayers, just don't buy one. Sell off your last copies of 10179 before the price tanks (it will), and then start QFing the hell out of these for about 6 months, since there is almost no way TLG keeps this thing in stock for a LONG time.2 points

This !! I have heard this reasoning several times. If this set was a 'failure' for Lego and sold for 50% off just to get rid of it, well that was 2008-2010. MANY, MANY, MANY, AFOL's have been created since then who never even knew Lego was capable of such amazing models at that time. (myself as an example) I'm not sure there's any correlation, but I seem to remember a US Stock Market crash in October of 2008 and an imploding housing bubble that followed for several years. Perhaps market conditions were not right for a $500 luxury item that many Star Wars fans had no idea existed. Perhaps they are IDEAL now. (Star Wars Renaissance under Disney, New Theme Parks, New Movies EVERY year, HAN SOLO being rebooted, etc)2 points

My guess is similar size to 10179 with a refurbished build with some interior detail, including both the OT and PT gang, with interchangeable satellites for $6002 points
