76059 Doc Ock's Tentacle Trap at TRU. Normally $40. PM to Amazon for $30. Rewards got it down to $10. Nice little Easter present for my son, who got the Ultimate Bridge for Christmas.8 points

Basically this question has been asked at least 20 times before with hopes of people sending PMs to try and sell their stock. You already have a FREE. Let me say that again FREE site called Brick Classifieds. You are already saving 10+ % on your commission fees. Take off that 10% savings of your items and spend a day or two or five and load up the site and make deals with people. If you limit it to a big bulk sale, you are cutting your changes to a very small portion. Very few people are giong to have 10/20/30+ thousand to offer depending on what you have. A while back someone sold like 19k worth of lego in like 2 weeks. Saved thousands on commissions. Just be ready to made a deal that works for you and it will go. Take advantage of Brick Classifieds now. It is moving and it may not be FREE much longer.7 points

I sell plenty of damaged boxes just 5 percent less. Sometimes I totally ditch the box sell 5-10 percent less put it in a flat rate box and end up making more. I sold scooby light house that way. It fit in a $6.30 flat rate padded envelope without the box. I listed $5 less than others and shipping with box would have been $12 so I ended up saving $2.00 with no box6 points

I call this my "poor man's temple" My son received Tiger widow Island and dojo Showdown (70756) for Christmas. We're throwing a ninja themed birthday for him tomorrow and my wife wanted a Center piece. So I looked through my inventory, but I didn't have any thing large or nice enough. So I decided to MOC one using what we had. Not bad for 15 min worth of work.5 points

So I just returned this afternoon from a 10 day business trip. When I left I put all my BL inventory in the "stockroom", except a Super Lot of The Ghost & The Phantom that stayed up for some reason. During the ten days I received 3 shipping quote requests: Canada, Findland, and Washington, after having no previous interest except people trying to get me to sell just the Phantom. Well upon returning today I got the formal quotes out and Canada snatched it up. I think this is my first quote request that actually got accepted. $200 plus shipping for the pair. Been a good day.5 points

Not bought today but opened up the shipping boxes today. Bunch of small game.4 points

It was sold as "New in distressed box". I assume the seller felt they could take some liberty in shipping it since it was already "distressed". I paid $220 for it and am going to build it, so I'm not stressing over it. Just surprised they put a half-@ss effort in conceiling the contents. I assume they ran out of kraft paper or they wanted the UPS guy to know that he was carrying something valuable, so he should treat it with extra care.4 points

Another UCS set to add to the collection. Not universally appreciated due to it not instantly being a winner from a investment perspective but a great build and definently a classic Star Wars ships that is universally recognised and Lego have done a good job in recreating.4 points

I will most likely hold these forever, if you ever wanted them back, let me know, as I understand tough times.4 points

Well that´s the thing, though. Right now you kind of want to hold off buying because the prices just get lower and lower the more you wait. Practically all the stuff I got pre xmas in the Tesco and other doorbuster sales is all much cheaper now and still isn´t selling out. It really is deflation and I guess a lot of shops won´t order so much this xmas as they have lost money for sure. Never mind Nexo at a permanent 40-50% off when there are CITY Police, Fire and Volcano flagships for less than 40 euros, Airshow for 20, IST´s for 49, Misfortune´s Keep for 30, Blue X Wings for 50, it´s hard to keep up.3 points

@njsealeJust my two bits... I recently got a craigslist offer for about $15,000 on most of my inventory. At that pricing, the buyer could have flipped it all for about 10% "instant" profit (....well, maybe in a month or two, depending on his selling platforms). We went 'round and 'round with details etc, until it became clear he could only pay via Paypal. Of course, Paypal doesn't cover that with buyer / seller protection. A Paypal rep told me that it is possible for a dishonest person with a Paypal account funded by Amex to make that kind of purchase, then call Amex the next day and say the purchase was unauthorized, merchandise didn't arrive, was fake, etc, and get the money clawed back. Now you might win that in a fight but... who wants to fight? Basically, the only way to do that kind of sale is with cashiers check (that you witnessed being written) or cash. In the end, we had no deal. I'm guessing that a real "whale" (one who actual has $15,000 to spend) would probably want to give me more of a haircut the joker I was talking to. Maybe 20% off? So anyway... with renewed selling attitude I went back to eBay (reading some of the selling on Amazon thread, you'll find that Amazon is not the place to be selling high dollar sets right now). On eBay, I've found you can move product pretty quickly at a fair price. I also love BrickClassifieds and am "double-listing" some items there at better discounts. My point is, like you, I was hoping to move all this stuff without the work. And I was willing to lose $1500... (maybe $2000?) to do it that way. But now I'm finding that... willing to take the going rate or a little bit less... I can move 10 or 20 sets a week. And at this rate, I should be able to move it all by the end of the year. Yeah it's a little work, but now the cash is rolling in, it feels great.3 points

This theme best shows the effect that the horde of "min-emazers" had on overall LEGO investment performance. Everyone started piling in on the large exclusives (which have not performed so well), and started ignoring the small/medium sets (which comparatively, have done so much better)3 points

Sorry to be quoting something 2 weeks old, but I wanted to come back to give details about what happened in my case. This morning, I got an email from PayPal telling me they had resolved the dispute in the buyer's favour and I would therefore lose my £179.95 as well as pay a £14 fee for there being a chargeback and the case was now closed! Needless to say, I was f**king livid. I had supplied all the proof of delivery they needed to show I was covered with Seller Protection and explained how I had an eBay message that confirmed to me which postcode to use from the two that had been entered as the PayPal delivery address. I think some moron must have handled it because the status details were set to: We have reviewed the case. Because you have not met Seller Protection performance requirements, the transaction will be reversed. The case is now closed." I phoned them up (freephone number) and thankfully it was a competent human being on the end (Gary was his name) who listened to all the details and said that I should be protected and he would escalate it. That was about 6 hours ago. I just got another email from PayPal telling me I was being given back the £179.95 and the £14 chargeback fee. It now shows up my account as a transfer from "PayPal Balance Adjustment". Thank you, Gary at PayPal! So it basically all worked out in the end. Phew! I can't afford to be down £200 right now.2 points

Can't anyone be happy? Complain about remakes upon remakes. Lego does something different. River of tears I'm mixed. I like it, but at like $992 points
