8275 Motorized Bulldozer. I actually started this set a while back, but half way through i realised that the set was missing afew pieces, so I had to bricklink the missing parts. Advice for people who plan to build the set, pay real attention to the placement of the power functions cables, i didn't follow the instructions 100% and realised after i built the set that the PF cables get caught on some of the gears and this results in the front part not moving up correctly.6 points

I don't think many people are buying at Lego Shop @ Home for 2xVIP month this year, when compared to last year at this time. Hardly any sets are heading into backordered status, and I suspect we are going to see a very slow phase out of sets. This is making things harder to gauge what will actually retire. Other than Slave 1, most of the other exclusives just hang around. We have entered a new era - that much is obvious.3 points

Disney Castle showing in stock at LEGO Shop at Home. I tried to add to cart but it wouldn't let me. Said to call CS. I called and they were able to submit an order for me. CS rep said reason it won't add to cart is because it is going in and out of stock sporadically. Double VIP + Mini Advent + good xmas flip item = time to buy a few. I'm not pushing my luck by ordering multiples at the same time so I'll try for another tomorrow if it still shows as available.2 points

Did you build a bat-tank? Today I finished my Ghostbusters building. From the Ideas set I only built the Ecto 1. That's because I think about selling the minifigures as I plan on getting the Firehouse Headquarters at some point. Then, the minifigures would be redundant. The abundance of silver/metallic pieces used in the Ideas version is a nice touch. Also, no stickers to be seen! The last build was the new Ecto 1 & 2 set. On the plus side, it has functioning doors and seats for the whole Ghostbusters team. I could do without the stickers though. The new hairpieces are cool. Both Ectos are nice builds and look cool but they seem to be rather large compared to the figures. Finally, a shot with both Ectos next to each other:2 points

I drove past a garage sale a couple months back and I saw one of those Lego storage towers sticking up in the back. I took a shot and checked it out and sure enough all five storage drawers were filled. I asked if they had any more and the lady brought over an opened Helms Deep box. Inside was a partially disassembled Helms Deep and a couple other LotR sets. Ended up buying all of it for $25. I left my number and said if she finds anymore just call. Well not even 15min after I left she called and said she found two totes full. Went back and sure enough two big totes full. I noticed that there were about 30 unopened bags inside of it. Seems like her kid would only open the bags with the minifigs in them and just leave the rest sealed. Crazy. .....oh yeah the two bins were only another $25.2 points

Depends on your buy-in. At 40% off, probably not, at 10% off, probably too many.2 points

Build some stuff from LEGO Dimensions today. I started with Adventure Time level pack and Harry Potter team pack. Lord Voldemort is absent as he won't be staying in this household. The next build was the Ghostbusters story pack. This was the first time that I encountered stickers in a Dimensions set: What a bummer! I had hoped that they would print all those pieces but besides the minifigure only 3 pieces were printed, e.g. the small Ghostbusters sign. I don't really mind smaller stickers that are easy to apply but those big transparent stickers were a real pain. Due to dust particles and a bubble they now don't look the best upon closer inspection. Another issue is the sticker for the Ghostbusters sign which isn't opaque enough to look white on a black background. Up next are more Ghostbuster builds. Hopefully I can finish those tomoroow.2 points

Don't worry. Exclusives don't go for 3x MSRP any more. If SSD and TH haven't made it yet nobody else stands a chance.2 points

Just to give some data out on vouchers, I bought the 30 quid one today and it cost me €34.50 with Amazon converter. That works out at an exchange rate of 1.15 against the 1.11 official market rate, in increase of 4%. if you pay in GBP and use your own credit card company´s rate, you will probably pay 3% more (standard CC commission) so the difference is negligible, unless you are purchasing a huge amount or you have a no comms deal on your credit card. You will only find out the hit once the transaction is done and can´t cancel so Amazon´s converter is a safer, if more expensive method. Applying the 7 pound promo to a 30gbp purchase gives a rate of 0.93 - a rate unlikely to be beaten unless the sky falls in on the UK.1 point

It´s luck. The link on coupons pages did not work but it appeared in my shopping basket this morning. Might have something to with me not actual confirming the purchase and they want to push me as I have been using it to compare exchange rates! If you don´t validate the Amazon promo link first, you won´t get the offer when you buy a gift voucher.1 point

I think if you know how much you have invested in them, you should consider putting them in groups on ebay. Sealed bag lots sell well and you should be able to make some money on them. There is also Brick Classifieds on here, too.1 point

Go to Catalog->Price Guide, type in the set number in the "Parts" section and there you go. Alternatively, for better control, download BrickStock and do Ctrl-I-I, enter the set number (including "-1" at the end) and once loaded, do Ctrl-A Ctrl-G to get the current prices.1 point

I did some on the office supplies. Clearance clothes were 100% back in points at kmart the other week. Somehow wound up with $10 more in points than I spent? The deal on Levi was actually on all pants. Then I used my VIP benefit for 100% back on one item to $50. We were buying a fridge and stove anyways and got $350 back. All in the last month I've gotten ~$800 of lego for free from kmart buying regular items we normally buy anyways.1 point

And be available for $9.99 in about 9 months from now. Made the rookie mistake (just coming out of my dark ages and really digging those minibuilds) to buy all 8 2014+2015 bricktobers for RRP .... luckily to display and build, not to resell, but still, I like my sets to gain in value, even the built ones.1 point

So why did they retire UCS Red 5 and AT AT and ISD on the eve of the 1st new movie release? I maintain that SC and EV are done this season.1 point

Once again I have to mention that we are in the middle of the biggest SW hype since years. There's still 5 more movies to come. You can be sure that they have sold a ton more SW sets than in the past few years. I think they are definitely keeping more Star Wars sets in production than usual and they will try to keep it that way for as long as they can. I really think you cannot apply the old retirement patterns in this case. Whether or not this is a good idea is another question entirely. Retail cannibalism is already happening. How many TIE's are there available again? Want another copy of that X-Wing in a different color? The fact that they are keeping sets like the Flash Speeder and the Imperial Assault Carrier in production is mind boggling to me as well. I think some sets will retire at the end of the year, but it won't be nearly as much as people expect. I wouldn't be surprised if no UCS sets retire at all.1 point

Who is "everyone"? In the US it´s 2x VIP which does strange things to people´s brains. In the UK, it´s 25% off at Tesco and that seems a fair price for personal build for the impatient. For those that are waiting, might suggest taking a look at Chabel´s 919 LMP1 on Rebrickable. It uses mainly easy to find parts and has a proper, working sequential gearbox using a fraction of the parts in 42056.1 point

Nope ... but I built this instead: The 75828 Ecto-1 on the left was my $24 Ebay score from last week - Vehicle only, but it did include several minifig tools (blue toolbox, 2 ghostbusting apparatus) and ... surprise surprise ... Patty's hair. Sent the seller a message to see if (s)he needs this back, given how crucial this unique hairpiece is.1 point

Kylo command shuttle .. Used the original kit.. Then added 40-50 extra black pieces a lot are minifigure base plates, black tiles and cheese slopes.. Took away a lot of the light grey pieces.. Added a Radar. Changed up wing tips . Redesigned front end. Covered rear showing technic holes on main cockpit area. It's a work in progress I guess.1 point

Got one for myself a couple of months back and it´s a good value set with plenty of useful parts. I don´t know if it will retire this winter or next but cranes are among the safer Technic models to invest in. 42000 and 42025 have not experienced good growth in Europe so buy-in is critical.1 point

Did anyone else get an unexpected free promo? I received my order today, and I did not only get Kai's Mini Dragon but also 30305 Spider-Man Super Jumper as an additional freebie. That was a nice surprise from LEGO.1 point
