  1. I finished building the 75060 UCS Slave 1 the other day. Here's a quick size comparison between this set with the Hasbro POTF toy (uses the Kenner 1980 toy mold) and set 8097 from 2010. After everything was done, 75060 is a really nice big set and looks great on display. If I had any "beef" with 75060, it's the fact despite this ship being big (it's true minifig scaled), cargo room is room. I fully understand UCS sets aren't for "play" but I expected an easier time for my son to insert and remove the Carbonite block since it's a highly advertised feature. Luckily, the engine exhaust area has a folding upside down light gray "T" section that is helpful if minifigs or the Carbonite element gets stuck inside. 8097 is better in this area but that set was designed for younger fans. I did find 75060 kinda fragile since there's isn't a single spot to hold it from while moving it from say, your build area to the display location I found holding the ship's top and stand (while on the ship is sitting in the stand) was the best way for me to move it from the basement to my son's room. For some reason, my excitement was pretty high when i started the build. After finishing it, I remember being more happy after building 8097. Regardless, this set is a "must have" for Star Wars fans ...especially for The Empire Strikes Back fans like me.

  2. I think what people are trying to tell you, especially because you've just started posting, is that that you need to become more knowledgeable before making statements of opinion. You've admitted that you've had very little exposure to the Star Wars franchise, yet you're making pronouncements about the product line and the investment potential about said line. It's fine if you don't want to invest in this line or this particular product. It's even fine to say why. But arguing the point about the iconicness of Slave 1, when you've only seen the films a couple of times is like arguing that Jar Jar Binks is a very well thought out character, and a highlight of the films. People are just going to flat out tell you that you're wrong.

  3. Never mind that the $399.99 was from 8 years ago. 10188 wouldn't cost $399.99 if it was released today even without Disney's purchase.

  4. This is the first rumor i've seen related to the January 1st winter wave of 2017. Sounds like a Yoda's Hut, the UCS Snowspeeder, and a new round of microfighters series 4, and a few Rogue One battlepacks are on the way.. It sounds like the following could happen. 75144 UCS Snowspeeder Yoda's Hutt 75160 (rebel pilot), 75161 (tie pilot), 75162 (rebel pilot), 75163 (Imperial Officer) 75164 Rogue One Rebel Battle Pack 75165 Rogue One Imperial Battle Pack 75166 Set with R2D2, and Yoda 75169 (possible landspeeder or could be Tusken Raider Attack themed set) has Luke, Obi-Wan, 3PO, and Tusken Raider 75170 (rebels set with Chopper, Kanan, Thrawn) 75171 Rogue One set with 3 minis (AT-AT's might be safe for a while!) 75272 Rebels set 75173 (sounds like a jedi final duel type set) with Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Maul 75174 Desert Skiff with Han, Chewie, Fett, Weequay 75179 Set with Lando, Rebel Pilot, Crewman http://www.bouwsteentjes.info/gerucht-eerste-details-van-de-lego-star-wars-2017-sets/

  8. You make good and valid points. I know you're in Germany and your competition there is different from what I have to deal with here. And you do have a point. 15% discount isn't that good, even on Exclusives that are rarely sold at discount here. I do remember all too well when I, still wet behind the ears as a new Brickpicker, bought a Slave 1 at 10% and thought that was a good deal. And then months later I could buy it with 20% discount. Also, you're obviously doing this more professionally ("for my business to be strong...") than I am. For me, the main reason to buy and sell LEGO was and still is to get a better return on my savings than simply leaving it to rot on a 0.5% interest savings-account at the bank. And I'm doing that using a product I love and have a connection with, which helps me to pick and choose sets that will be wanted by the masses. My risks are very low because I'm not speculating with borrowed money, or using this LEGO investment as a way to (partially) support the household income. It's purely a hobby for me. Hunting for a great deal can be both frustrating and deeply satisfying. Scoring a great deal gives a rush. Though missing out on such a deal because you were busy elsewhere or had a bad timing can be similarly frustrating. Right now is a low season, especially for selling LEGO. I'm already looking forward to the last several months of the year when the building up to the Christmas craze hits the markets!

  9. I was in HK several times last year, though never had much time for looking (there for work). From the places I did see Lego, there was never any really compelling stuff that I could see, though I don't recall seeing any stand out places on Nathan Road. A lot of Lego knock-offs, though. Lego is pretty big there, though. As seen at this exhibit that was on HK Island (at a shopping centre just south of Causeway Bay train station)...

  10. What did he do on screen that was so amazing? Dude got taken out by a half blind Han Solo, Jar Jar would have put up more of a fight than Boba Fett.

  15. I finished out everything I needed for this set today. Got a complete set, plus three extra Mariachis and two extra Penguins. And an extra kick boxer and hiker so I could make a woman hiker for my friend that's about to hit the Pacific Coast Trail for a month.

  18. You should go and rewatch empire strikes back. There are probably no star wars fans that would agree with you as the slave being one of the least iconic ships I guess you think Boba fett was a weak character also because of his lack of screen time and lines. Well news flash he is a BOUNTY HUNTER who pilots the Slave and was one of the coolest pilot/ship combinations in the whole star wars universe. Kids wanted to know more about the mysterious Fett and for a few years between ESB and ROTJ he was in possession of the main antagonists and had him frozen in carbonite aboard the SLAVE 1. You are investing in Lego wrong and obviously watching and enjoying the star wars saga wrong; you are entitled to your opinion but it and much of what you have posted here is wrong.

  21. TOYBASH and up to $35 savings and 3+ items on the jet.com sale. A few of the sets I was looking at are no longer there. Looks like a number of the sw battle packs are no longer available. I was just going to use them to maximize the savings.

  22. I'm wondering if the set with Lando is the set that looks like two shoes tied together from Cloud City? That's one set that needs an update. And a Lando in his blue outfit is well past due. And I hope Yoda's Hutt is as good as the Unexpected Gathering set from a few years back.

  29. I never got the 10188. I own a 10143 and it's my favorite set of my collection. If TLG makes another playset with 0 display style, I will gladly wait another 8 years for another. I only have so much space for sets and I don't like playsets. Just my opinion.

  31. I'd argue the only really desired figures are going to be from this summer's limited wave - in the US only available at LEGO Shop at Home and TRU. From what I have seen there isn't a ton of availability and given that TRU sells these there won't beach clearance. Look for Umarak the Destroyer, Melum the Mask Maker and the three Beasts (quake, storm and lava). Older series Bionicles are clearanced everywhere, but I don't think they'll be very desirable... I could be wrong though.

  32. I thought that the latest speculation was that a Boba Fett movie was considered too mature, or at least a movie simply about a bounty hunter was not in keeping with where Disney wants to move the franchise (i.e. more family rather than father&son) and that he’d be written into the Han Solo movie in some way.

  33. I saw this the other day and thought it could be used to light lego models quickly and easily. Looks great, obviously there is the down side of having to draw on the lego bricks, but if it were on a base plate it wouldn't really matter as it wouldn't be seen. You could draw along the base plate to the points needed, a pretty easy and clean solution? Also not sure if this removable and would clean off the bricks. I don't know, whats people thoughts?

  34. As stated above, different countries have different conditions, so it's not like the condition you're working under in your country is one-on-one applicable to the condition I or someone else from yet another country has to work under. The Netherlands simply does not have a large storey like Galeria Kaufhof in Germany, which now and then has quite good offers. On top of the already lower prices (in general) than those we have here in The Netherlands. Then there are people in Spain who juggle with coupons to get really good discounts. Another thing that is lacking here. There are no discount coupons given here and in the rare instances that a folder has a cut-out coupon for a meagre 10% discount, the small print always states that discounts do not stack, and are not applicable to already discounted items. So, while you may scoff at a 'mere' 15% discount on an Exclusive, in other countries that could sometimes be the best discount on that set throughout its 2-3-4 year availability. And after all, does it really matter that much if you sell a MISB 10240 Red Five X-Wing a few years down the road for €400 whether you bought it for €230 (Dutch retail price) or for €180? Yes, you make a little bit more profit if you got it for €180, but it's not a whole world of difference. And if you had limited yourself to not buy it for more than €150, you'd have lost a nice opportunity...

  36. There's too many Superhero movies. It's completely oversaturated to the point where they have lost their luster. I really could care less about lesser known superheroes like Black Panther, Shazam, Captain Marvel, etc. and by 2019 people are going to be so sick of these, that I think they will begin to fail at the box office. Star Wars could also begin to lose it's luster by Episode 9. Disney needs to scale it back. Seriously, they are pushing out way too much stuff. And now with DC and Warner Brothers trying to mimic the marvel world it's bound to create many super flops where all the stories seem similar, to where it becomes overly trite. Sometimes less is more. I'm already burned out on all the superhero BS. As for the lego movies - bring em' on. The First Lego Movie was a gem. Batman looks funny as heck and i'm sure it will be better than any real batman film being pushed out right now.

  38. I think this needs to be a massive set to interest people. Let's face it, most of the Modulars are wonderful sets, but they are losing their luster a bit. It's time to make a statement.

  39. the other posted picks are from recent sets: the elves, orcs, dwarves, and wolf are from The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings. and you have a plate of star wars figs. The weird-looking bug-like creatures with the solid-color space figs are from Galaxy Squad. Those are hardly worth the time to identify---put them all in a bulk lot and dump them on ebay, and you may break even. Any time you spend on those will be lost.
