  1. If you're having trouble selling your sets on Ebay, maybe message this seller for some (or better said: two) tips ... https://www.ebay.com/itm/262492801150
  2. Built Big Ben and added lights from Brick Stuff. What a slick addition to the model - I added two white LEDs in the top of the tower, and two green LEDs behind the colonnade above the four sided clock. Next step is to illuminate the facade and light the Tower Bridge displayed next to it. For those builders and MOCers that have thought about diving into lighting, you will not be disappointed.
  3. Gave my husband a Grievous constraction 75112 for his birthday today. I had no idea how large it would be. I may never feel safe again. He is quite menacing.
  4. Amazon.com: Dimensions Doc Brown Fun Pack - $5.97 (60% off) Dimensions Dr. Who Cybermen Fun Pack - $6.29 (48% off) Dimensions DC Aquaman Fun Pack - $8.50 (43% off)
  5. our first used Modular on local eBay, first purchased locally here in Brazil, at BRL 1300 (USD~385 -EUR~349) extremely well kept, first time no missing pieces at all (previous used set experiences always with missing pieces 75093, 79003, 7965, 8038, 4842, etc.), as you can see below seller placed back the pieces into the original numbered bags...
  6. Received the B/N order. Temple and a bunch of Lego books. Packaged nicely by Barnes and Noble.
  7. Finally got around to building (and photographing) 10197 Fire Brigade. It was the first modular I ever constructed. I enjoyed it, but, it wasn't as life changing as I expected. I'm in the process of tearing it down so I can sell it, lol. But I am looking forward to building others in the series.

Hi guys, Earlier this year my wife and I "completed" our journey out of the dark ages (thanks again to this community for making that possible for a -relatively- reasonable amount). Having acquired all of the retired sets we wanted (within reason, sorry UCS Falcon and Grand Carousel), my wife mused that our city needed a zoo. I agreed, so I decided to make one. I posted a MOC a few months ago but this is my first end-to-end, all the bells and whistles effort at something special. It took about 10-12 weeks. I built it and my wife provided constant feedback, answering "what do you think of this?" and "how does this look?" over and over hahah. I also received input some friends, family, and even an esteemed member on here (shout out TheOrcKing for his feedback and, really, everything he does and contributes to this community). Anyway, I thought I'd share this one with you all, too... The concept is that it's a modular building that has modular exhibits, in that you can remove them from the building and place them side-by-side more like a traditional zoo. Depending on how you configure it, the play area becomes as large as 50" wide, but is easily stored and placed into your city on a single standard 10"x10" baseplate: Behind the facade, there are 7 exhibits and 1 food stand & lab. Here's a look at one of them (link to others below): And this is what it looks like as part of a Lego city street: There's a complete video overview here: https://youtu.be/3q6l0Ud5C3c And lots more pictures here (no pressure to vote, of course.... not that I'll stop you lol) https://ideas.lego.com/projects/145483 Thanks for looking! Thoughts?
  9. If anyone is still looking for more storage drawers for their store/LEGO collection: Sears continues to have the 39-drawer Stack Ons as Hot Buy for $13.99/ea. There is a $10 back in points for purchases over $50 promotion, plus a 10% back in points promotion, making a purchase of 4 $56 plus $15.50 back in points towards FREE LEGO. (plus a 5% off coupon if you have a Sears Card - saves an additional $2.80 on 4). Combining with discounted Sears gift cards gives more direct savings if you have any.
  10. Well, it looks like I won't have to worry about hitting any Toys R Us stores on the way to the beach.
  11. Especially when I start to get rid of some...
  12. Grand Emporium is an excellent set. Every collection should have one.
  13. you know whats odd, I was doing an inventory of all the Mixels I have ( turns out its like 1100 ) and comparing prices on Amazon/eBay etc and for some unknown reason maybe valublae pieces in the set, the Mixels Scorpi from series 3 was selling for £14.50, so I put the 34 up which I bought for like £1.50 each and all sold in like 10 days ( all Amazon and all sent none-recorded because Amazon actually bans people. ) Yes madness
  14. That's strange. Mine came with these...
  15. All my WM birds got stickers blue rim for the first buy 21S5 and orange rim for second buy 24S5. The first time I almost got a heart attack (given previous experiences with WM sticking a shipping label to my town hall and shipping naked...) but I was pleasantly surprised when they pealed off easily. Catastrophe averted now I just want WM to dry up before they single handedly flood the market.
  16. As if Medicare isn't subsidizing grandma enough already (most 65+ people receive in paid services about 4 x what they paid in during their working lives, thanks to younger workers who will never see any of their 'generosity' repaid). The least grandma could do is not go around hacking eBay accounts and running phantom lego reseller scams...
  17. 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer for €100 from real.de
  18. These were plastered all over mine.
  19. A couple updates on Amazon. 41015 - Friends: Dolphin Cruiser - $55.99 (20% off) 76046 - SH: Heroes of Justice: Sky High Battle - $46.99 (22% off)
  20. "Everything you need to hook up and play! Console has been cleaned and thoroughly tested. Joystick is somewhat used and works great. Polished pins on game. I ship six days a week!" I'm not 100% certain, but that description ... seems pretty accurate.
  21. *sigh* That's right about at my price point. Guess I'm in a for a few more.
  22. I used the dollar for size reference. We have a local auction group setup on Facebook for our county and neighboring counties. I won about 40 sets, varying from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Batman, SpongeBob, Toy Story 3, Indiana Jones, City and Creator sets. I used the Brick picker app to at least track the retail value. I know I can't go by the exactly as far as valuation goes, but I don't think I did too bad for $75.
  23. Already? jack & coke pls ill check my honey hole tomorrow and will report any new polybag findings...
  24. Nice haul. Looks like a Summer Riding Camp is in there too based on the white corral.
  25. Didn't know the VA had licensing agreement with LEGO?
  26. I foolishly bought 5 more complete sets, when I was adamant I wasn't going to buy anymore, but reading this site convinced me to get some more. Anyway, back in late April, I scored 2 cases of these right before the official release date, and then over a 2 week period, I blew out 10 complete sets and made decent profit on them. I sold some sets for 180 during the initial gold rush, but then prices dropped quickly, but were in the 150 range for a few days (still very good profit), before going lower to where they hovered around 120 for quite some time. Now, they are down to about 105 before fees, and I have to say it's just average times right now, because they are not moving like they once were, and the better time to sell these was during the first 2 weeks of release. I sold one of the 5 sets this past week and made a whopping 9.00 after fees/shipping/packaging costs, and plan on just holding the other 4, but I'm thinking it's going to be a while before these are profitable again (be nice to see them hit 180 again). The good days have definitely slowed. Reminds me very much of Series 14 when early on it was incredibly great but as time wore on, the interest waned, and too many people jumped in. I think the same has happened to the Disney Figures. I hear a lot of people convinced these are going to be extremely profitable, but i'm not convinced. Same thing was said about Simpsons series 1, and that hasn't really panned out and they have been retired for some time. A lot of the previous minifigures I wouldn't call "extremely profitable either".. While some figure MAY net you 2x, a majority of these will hover around the 30% range for quite some time. So, I think a lot of people are overstating these as investments.
  27. It looks to me that the parents are expecting to get back near what they spent without putting in the effort to organize it into sets. not anywhere close IMO. If you're interested in going into Bulk, I wrote a primer on it.
  28. Started this Friday night, just finished. I was always underwhelmed by pictures of this set. I was mistaken as it's quite impressive in person.
  29. The iconic Ferrari F40 with a working gearbox and headlights. I think the hood has room for improvement but overall it is a beautiful model by jorgeopesi. At some point I will be adding the Ferrari sticker emblems to the hood and side of the car.
  30. You are deprived of these tasty treats up north?
  31. Ima go hit the smush room

A sigh of relieve... no AT-AT or ISD remake yet

For what its worth, the alleged LEGO set looks very similar to the concept art for the movie, and it seems to be a transport. Technically any complain about the design should be directed to Disney
  34. They haven't even hit Ross yet. Expect a few more there before the start of the holiday season.
  35. You can see all the separate buildings from Summer Riding Camp from above in the top photo Nice find as that sets goes for >$100 used AFAIK.
  36. LOL...I did the same thing - Bricklinked it. And I found the cost to be similar, too. Oops!
  37. Just built the fountain promo. Dropped it in front of the theater with the benches across the street next to the firehouse. Just need to finish the pavement.
  38. Built 6280 Armada Flagship from a bulk buy I bought a while back. This is the first vintage set I've built in years. I forgot how bad instructions were back then. It was tough seeing what pieces needed to be added in a step as you needed to compare it to what you've built already and/or the previous step's picture. Kids these days don't know how good they got it.
  39. One set I have listed on CL for $70, I had one guy email at the end of May saying he "would like to bid $40 on the set." I replied that it wasn't really an auction that you bid on, the price is $70. He responds " Fifty sounds fair since I'm spending 20 on gas anyway." No, that is not fair, your travel does not affect the price of my item for sale. He told me (in a much less nice way) to go have sex with my hand. I just reposted the item, and yesterday got another email from him saying "I bid $50." I also had another person ask me to bring the set to his house. No thanks.
  40. I personally love The Ghost and Phantom. I thought they were great builds and look great together. I'm also a big Rebels fan so in a bit biased.
  41. Built this bad boy over the weekend. I was up until 1:30 on Saturday night working on it. I thought about making the final push that night to finish but decided I had had one too many whiskey's at that point. Good thing I didn't, my 3 year old was up at 6:15 ready to go!!! TF looks way better than I thought it would. Now I have to figure out what to build next, Slave 1, Ferris Wheel, or start down the Modular rabbit hole!
  42. Very happy with this purchase. Still can't believe my luck. In great condition. Only missing a few pieces which I have already ordered from bricklink. Super Star Destroyer next!
  43. Took the instructions from the Maersk train #10219 and Bricklink'd all in black, bought some waterslide decals from a local hobby shop and then modified it a bit to be a Norfolk Southern locomotive in our little city. Nothing special, but we added power functions and it runs great.
  44. Built this a few weeks ago, just haven't shot it yet...It's got a cool elevator lift on the right hand side, the stairs move up and down, Hans in Carbonite can be maneuvered from facing out and in an upright position to lowered down in more of a flat position. I really like the one with Boba carrying Hans without any support. However, irl, there was support, but it got removed digitally I also stacked 3 images in PS to create a depth of field that showed all 3 figures in focus on the last frame. That was fun too.
  45. Built my first modular. GF built the pet shop half and I built the townhouse. Fun build! This can get addictive (and expensive).
  46. Over the weekend I ran out of sets i really wanted to build so went for a surplus investment set ( I usually have a limit of 3 but ended up with 4 of these). The Ewok Village set never really interested me much. After all its a scene playset that just seemed a bit too bitty for my liking. Having built it I'm really glad I ran out of sets because it's fantastic. Ok most of the build seems to be building trees but it never seems repetitive, as each element has different hidden features. There's plenty of scenes from the film included and it does actually feel like one model not a bunch of pieces (cough assault on hoth cough). It now sits proudly on a shelf with my Tydirium Shuttle and an AT-ST. If you're a star wars UCS fan but haven't really fancied this set go get yourself one before its too late.
  47. Today I built the 75095 Tie Fighter and I didn't mind the repetitive parts of the build because you can essentially build two sections at once. I really appreciated the detail given by the design team at the front of the manual but I greatly detested being instructed to put stickers on AFTER attaching the wings to the cockpit AND placing pieces to secure the wings and obstruct the panel that I have to put stickers on. It would have been much better to put the stickers on earlier. **Make a note - if you plan to build this, and use the stickers, put the 4 arrow stickers on before you attach the wings.** This is a very accurate depiction of a Tie Fighter but it still a very weak UCS compared to other large Star Wars sets. I really find this inferior compared to the most recent UCS sets that I have built: the Imperial Shuttle, Super Star Destroyer, and Red 5 X-wing to name a few. One thing that really detracts from the final display is the clumsy stand that blends in too much with the wings. I would love to see Lego create clear technic pieces to make the UCS sets appear that they are in flight. The stand works great for sets that have contrasting colors (see 10212) but not as well in this particular case. In the end, I am glad that I own this set for my display but I am happier that I received 1004 points from TLG for the purchase because it's really overpriced based on a piece count and the overall build. My fiancee built the Hot Air Balloon Friends set (to go with our modular town and soon to be built Ferris Wheel). I have loved this set since it came out but it looks like it may be a hard sell from an investment standpoint because it was simply everywhere for too long without selling. I saw these on "empty" Lego shelves in multiple locations over the winter so this is a definite long term hold but it's a great little set and truly unique (no picture).
  48. @feed: Is that ISD 75055? The box of that set is quite big so that's surprising. Finished building that Batman set with the exception of Batmobile and Batcopter and the superhero minifigures. Those are already packed for sale to recoup parts of the original costs. It was a fun build and the final result is more impressive than I imagined. A lot of people complain about the set but I think it's cool. I'm not a fan of superheroes and Batman though. And this is how it could look like if integrated into a modular street.
