  5. It was a $90 set and has been avail at <$45 for many months. There's 200+ sellers on Amazon now, and I bet a lot of folks who snagged these at $30 at Target/Walmart. Would you LOSE money at $40 on this, no, probably not - but I expect it will take a very long time to get to even break-even. Compare it to the Mechdragon which saw similar pricing and availability, and it's been retired over a year and is still avail for $65 on Amazon. May take another year to get close to MSRP. So, if you want it as a build/gift, $41 for a $90 lego set is solid. If you want it for investment, I'd stay far far far away until the price gets to $30. And even then I'd be hesitant. Many Wave 1 Chima sets (retired approaching 2 years) are just now seeing their prices creep to MSRP, and only a few of the sets out of the line have shown gains at all. I'd strongly encourage you to put your investing dollars elsewhere. Really, that goes for the whole Chima line. Unless you're buying in at 66% off or more, I'd avoid.

  6. Since you asked... listen carefully at 0:53. Yep... can't remember three things from a grocery list, but I can remember hearing about a new lego part in a designer video!

  11. My family had both the van & beetle for most of my life growing up, and I can quite easily say this is beyond beautiful well as incredibly accurate to the car while surprisingly still LEGO. Although the 2008 model might be considered a collector's item, to be honest that one was a poor model looking like somebody took a sandblaster to it. Anywho, only thing that could make this new one better would be a "Herbie" makeover.

  13. demand for this set seems inexhaustible. sold 8 in the last 4 days for $99.99 + $4.99 shipping each FBA.. still have 9 left. how high can this go - 150-200? 1 million dollars? infinity + 1? love sets like this that are made of money but sad to see my supply dwindle down. cue newbie77's "final uptick" comment. what will this years Raptor Escape be? it's out there right now sitting on the shelves.

  14. The good news about real Chima is it's always discounted so heavily that China Chima can't compete. That is of course also the bad news about Chima.

  20. Lots of people part train sets, so if you know what extra track you need, bricklink maybe be a better bet.

  21. Best I've got is when Kmart.com has them slightly reduced, and then buy in bulk (i.e.4 or more boxes) to get SYWR savings via a coupon etc. For straight track you might be better off going to BL or EBay and buy just straight track pieces, because the flex track is rubbish and you end up putting those pieces in a big bin anyways. Should cost you between $2 and $4 per straight track piece.

  22. First trip, took 5 kids age 12 to baby to CA legoland. Did 5 day pass so got to see all.the stores multiple times FO star destroyer and kylo ren polybags in the big store and large one in back of park. There were disney minifigs and series 8 mixels by the truckload in every shop. Parrot polys and friends bowling in appropriate stores. Also the elf poly with girl on flying thing in appropriate stores. Avenger minifigure wall holder only in the minifigure store right when you enter, and it was sold out some days. The guess a Minifig game thing was everywhere. EV missing from big store and PR and DO only modulars they had when I was there, take that for what it's worth. Overall had a good time, glad we want while kids still young, they might not have liked it as much even in another year. I also was a good dad and brought a bag of around 70 old and lame minifigures (30+ of an Eros Chima guy with no helmet) for trading. Kids could trade like a boss by the time we left, their highlights were a few old astromechs, about 7 total friends, I found a Santa vader that had a stormtrooper helmet and a few more gems. Overall much much better minifigures than we left with.

  28. Same story as the tumbler, people trying to buy and flip to make a pound!! One already on eBay for £220 or best offer!! How is there any money in that deal!? My advice, if you have one, just enjoy building this beautiful set as opposed to flipping it!!

  30. OMG I hate those selfie sticks. Best part of Paris Disney was they were confiscating them at security on the way into the park!! A few people snuck them in somehow, but we saw three or four seized by security! Awesome!

  31. Depends on what you use. I would use ME Track in a heartbeat (they make better radii for the curves). LEPIN/DeCool etc rails, or whatever clone brand, not really. I'm a purist that way

  38. For me, it was all about the personal build (few purchases are for anything other than that). Had gift cards bought at 8% off, so ends up at about 12% discount. Just not sure when I'll get to build it...

  40. No problem to order here: (Though I am not ordering it for that price! Then I'd rather buy it in Germany instead where it's €30 cheaper...)

  41. Why? I´m gonna flip it for 10 euros and that´s like a whole 25% in profit. Which bank account gives you that these days? Plus I have a Giraffe.

  43. so I got home today after running some errands, and there was a decent size Lego box there on the porch. i figured, wow, my Porsche is here already even though it was on back order (when i ordered it) The shipping box was large, but not as large as a Tumbler in a shipping box which I am familiar with. anyways, i open her up and this is in it.... ???? I got my much valued wall stickers I ordered, along with my fountain to crash my Porsche into..... but they also threw in a tank to bulldoze the fountain with??? is this a mistake, or something they do? receipt says legoland ticket voucher, fountain, and lego friends wall. total of $3.75 will the Porsche stil come? (scratching head) pp

  45. Finally got around to building the GE with my son. This was the last build in a 4 set lot from last Dec. I'm missing 4 windows and a couple of trivial elements that I subsituted for now. For me, the build wasn't as interesting as the Fire Brigade and Palace Cinema (only modular buildings built so far). Part of this low opinion might be my low desire to build it. I've kept putting it off and unloaded all of my MISB sets last month. The revolving entrance and escalators were my favorite parts to build. Everything else was pretty basic, As I built each floor, the set grew on me though.

  46. Ah, I thought it was just me. Haunted house is the one set that I am so devastated that I missed out on getting for my personal collection. I waited too long that it retired and now it's too expensive, and after I missed the boat on that one, it changed ny buying strategy such that I no longer wait to buy the sets that I really want...
