  2. Walmart.com high speed train $ $90.3 60061 - City: High Speed Passenger Train - $90.3 (40% off)
  3. I would have liked and expected much less human involvement
  4. My daughter and I built 2 of the $2.50 Airjitzu flyers. We put a basket across the room and made a game of landing them in it. Also, my dogs chase them and pounce when they land. Fun for the whole family!
  5. Shopko has the LEGO Dimensions Midway Level Pack (71235) for $9.99. You can use FLAG4 for 10 off 50 or 15 off 75.
  6. Under appreciated sets are good for investors if there's a reason to appreciate them once they are gone. I think this set is quality, and will be a "wow, they made that?!?" set in the future. Being part of a 'set' helps too. Everyone thought the Town Hall was a turd until they couldn't have one. They had to complete their modular set and it went crazy. Being part of the Frank Lloyd Wright subset helps even more. With everyone bemoaning the hoarde and then being 25 deep on any set worth a damn, I like that this one retired quietly and with old seal codes. For the record, I bet Benny is winner in 2-3 years time, based on the sheer quality of the build. I think it hits 1.5x retail by 3rd year gone. Considering the 30-50% discounts that could also be a strong hold. Lone Ranger, I don't like. None of them have the wow factor. If 2.2x retail on a consistently 20-35% off set is stagnated, sign me up. IH is 30% more expensive than FW to begin with. If IH only doubles it's at 260. FW already cleared 2.25x retail. They both have legs to continue to rise. There are very few sellers between IH hitting 200. Once it's through those sellers (30-40) it can really take off. Again, just my opinion, and experience with architecture sets. Especially the FLW sets. You say FW is more iconic but to a FLW fan, you need both. Those are the people we want buying these and they don't really care if it's 300 or 400 or 500. It's just money.
  7. This is a garage sale find from many years ago. Full of the older minifigures without arms. Quite dirty and missing the smokestacks and some damage to the smaller parts. Powered with a inline transformer. Paddles spin, but with difficulty. I found a picture of what it looked like when new. Other than that I couldn't find anything else on the web. Can anyone shed anymore light on this one. Thanks! Mike
  8. In Europe (my market and that of the person who asled for advice) this is the only Architecture set at the present time not to have grown. Even SSN is doing better! Where things are in 3, 5 or ten years is anyone´s guess but I would certainly not sink 100 euros on one now, knowing how it has performed thus far. In 4 month´s time we will get a new round of retirements and special offers that should yield more cleare cut winners both for flippers and long term holders.

Any builder understands the strife in trying to make something feel natural and organic. Thankfully some have been quite successful in these endeavors which lead back to the subject for this topic. One part akin to "advanced building techniques" and the other being "MOC highlights", I thought it might be interesting to have a central hub for showing off these designs of nature well as ways to create them if possible. A couple of designs here to start things off with hopefully more added as time goes by. Note: This is not only about trees but any sort of scene with beautiful creativity in all things flora just in LEGO form. Cherry blossoms by 片岡 ひろし Technical Tree
  12. In this case, the buyer sold the same item to a customer and didn't have anymore so they are buying one from aw004g and having him/her ship it directly to their customer. It's considered somewhat shady and risky but **** happens so sometimes you have to do it to avoid cancelling an order. I've done it before for this reason.
  13. Amazon price drops 21013 - Architecture: Flatiron Building - $25.60 (36% off) 21028 - Architecture New York City $39.44 (34% off) 21024 - Architecture: Louvre - $45.12 (25% off) 70145 - Chima: Maula's Ice Stomper - $42.04 (53% off) 60097 - City: City Square - $122.42 (36% off)
  14. Hint: this is made for kids, many of whom only receive LEGO 1-2 times a year. I used to go there to pump the tires. They also did minor repairs. Also gas stations sell refreshments.
  15. My latest restoration project. This was a tough one. I had to do a fair amount of substitution because the large dark blue plates are non-existent. Only one of the substitute pieces is noticeable on the roof. Also the windshield wipers. I was able to hide the others pretty well. Before and after pictures showing what I got and the finished product. The stickers are high quality replacements I got from a guy in Australia.
  16. My son finished his 75053 The Ghost that he got for his birthday. His first major build to do by himself (he's 6). The kids are huge Rebels fans, so he loves it!
  17. My son started this, but I ended up building the majority of it. 70603 Raid Zeppelin. Love the look of this thing!
  18. Build this over the last few days, picked it up for £300 so happy. Quicker build than I expected, but looks fantastic. Bit big though, doesn't fit on my shelf without removing the top section of the tower.

Hot Damn, this looks amazing! A pop-up Japanese castle built entirely from Lego !
  20. An image has been found online of a new, upcoming Star Wars polybag of Rebel A-Wing pilot. There's no news yet of where or how to get it.Astute fans may notice that the figure more closely resembles a B-Wing pilot, but this character is based upon the design for Star Wars Rebels. The original report was available on hothbricks.com. More news when it is available.
  21. Amazon 75106 - Star Wars: Imperial Assault Carrier - $81.59 (37% off) 76026 - Super Heroes: Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas - $36.05 (37% off)
  22. Set 75145 - The Eclipse Fighter. Just to get the Dengar minifig. Best $29.99 I spent because the set is pretty neat for an unknown vehicle in the Star Wars universe.
  23. Nothing short about IH´s run.
  24. It is a commercial decision. LEGO is able to do this because the company is doing too well relatively to its competitors. It means they are creating enough value so people still buy it with these prices. The underlying decisions might be that people who would be deterred due to the price increase actually mostly don't buy sets at RRP and are waiting for discounts. If the wholesale price is also getting an increase then even discount prices will be higher. Plus this is another way to combat capacity constraints. For investors this is good. The product is becoming more exclusive and a toy of the affluent.
  25. LEGO Architecture 21023 Flatiron Building $25.60 now @ Amazon (limit 2) and Walmart
  26. They are using you as a drop shipment. I haven't had any issues with these transactions in the past.
  27. A post with no place so here it goes if you ever wanted to see what the die piece beneath the rubber coating looked like.
  28. Jang's review is up: Still the best looking summer set imo.
  29. In terms of advice: make sure your son understands the motor needs to be stationary and equipment needs to turn - my son thought it was fun to hold the battery box and have the motor (with gears and stuff) spin around fast at the end of the cord; as a result daddy had to get the soldering iron out to resolder the cord back to the motor as it broke internally due to overtwisting ;-)
  30. Hi I have just bought a Atlantis warrior. Extremly happy about him :-) /Allan
  31. Funny you say that. I actually take that to be an incredibly good sign.
  32. I don't know the European market and its desire for architecture sets, but in the US they've been very successful when the larger sets retire. This set is retired in the US, and many predicted it would stores for quite a while like previous architecture sets. From where i live, it is finally starting to disappear from Barnes & Noble, and Toysrus (the last places you could still find it). Based on the number of sellers on Amazon and where they're priced currently, I have a feeling this will be a $200 USD fairly soon which is a decent increase from the retail price of 129.99. However many of us got it at much deeper discounts than $130, so there are quite a few sellers likely to get out at $200. Once that purge happens it could jump to 275-300 by Christmas. Just my opinion. If I were you I would absolutely pick one up, at any discount, if not a couple.
  33. Something you take for indigestion isn't it?
  34. On sale @ Amazon (again) for $38.35 (15% off/save $6.64) http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Ideas-21301-Birds-Model/dp/B00PE12ZJO

  36. Hmm I wonder if the French version of this set says out of fuel.
  37. Keep an eye on this one over the weekend. At least 5 sold over the last couple of days around $585-590. That seller increased their price. Less than 10 offered below $600 + shipping. Prime is now at $615. eBay sales are trending up, too. http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Star-Wars-Death-10188/dp/B002EEP3NO?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A33Y5VKEN2ZOAH We might have a creeper.

Cant remember if I've already posted this. Anyways its going in, can never have too much star wars.
  41. Thought we could use a Cooter's Garage someday. I'm surprised this is one theme LEGO hasn't revived.
  42. I don't know if these sets are iconic for Lego as a whole, but they are iconic for me. Some are from my childhood, some brought me out of my dark age. 1) Black Seas Barracuda - the first lego ship, still holds up today 2) Eldorado Fortress - Awesome looking fortress, very nice for the time, and I think it still looks great today. 3) Medieval Market Village - One of the sets that brought me out of my dark age, great to see more civilian castle sets. 4) 6990 Monorail Transport System - Made my Christmas one year, one of my prized sets and I still have it set up in my home 25 years later. 5) Black Monarch's Castle - One of the best of the older castles IMHO. Nice colors, breaks the mold from the grey castles. 6) Haunted House - Unique theme, great build techniques, awesome display piece. 7) An Unexpected Gathering - One of the most iconic locations in LotR and Hobbit in Lego form. 8 ) 10210 Imperial Flagship - Another set that took me out of my dark age. This thing is so detailed that most people don't realize it's Lego until they get up close to it. 9) Camouflaged Outpost - One of the quinessential forestmen sets. 10) UCS Falcon - I don't own it, but I've seen it in person and it is massive, detailed, and accurate. Shows what can be done with these little bricks and pieces. Honorable mention: 9493 X-wing - There have been numerous variants done on this ship, but I think this one will stand out as a classic. Helps that it had a lifesize model built and displayed in times square. Orthanc, Ewok Village, Modular Buildings... really any large Lego exclusive. Lego saw the emerging adult market and starts to create large, expensive, detailed sets to appeal to that audience.
  43. My list: 1. Tower Bridge 2. Cafe Corner 3. UCS Millennium Falcon 4. Green Grocer 5. Winter Village Cottage 6. QAR/Black Pearl 7.Tower of Orthanc 8. 3739 Blacksmith Shop 9. An Unexpected Gathering (My current favorite set) 10. Diagon Alley
