  1. You would probably need to buy this to get a free hoth

  2. Built this over the last week. Only my second Technic build so far. I really do enjoy how well the gears, chains and different linking elements work in congruence with one another. Although the builds aren't quite as enjoyable as standard sets the end results are really intriguing. (Street Motorcycle 42036) I opted for the Retro Bike build and there are ample pcs left over but it still looks bad a$$.

  12. Sure, it's not Zuvio, or Maz's minions, but I think it will add to the first order trooper count.. You should have heard all the crying last year when they announced Admiral Yularen. The amount of tissues being used in this forum took down many hundreds of acres of forest.

  13. Sold an Ant man final battle for £30 after fees. Buy in was £10 with TRU gift card. Also sold 9 Chicken Suit Guys with a total buy in of £4 since some were free from SAH and they were on discount at £1 each in Sainsburys and sold for £45 after fees.

  14. The average consumer who is blindly buying sets at retail is not the person who is buying expensive, retired sets. The people who are dropping $800+ on retired sets are well aware of what has been made before and are going to be much more aware of sets that are rumored to be coming out in the near future.

  15. I used a cardpool giftcard and the 20% coupon to get the TRU Sith Infiltrator and Spider Droid for $98. Good for a couple future reviews.

  17. I still feel all the doom and gloom is just being overdramatic. I honestly doubt there will be a huge crash in the lego economy like the recession. It'll be more of a correction in the sense that profit margins will get so thin, that it will naturally thin the herd or those casual investors, or those that don't know what they are doing. Eventually once those people that have no idea what's going on and all fire sell their stuff, and those that can weather the storm will be just fine. Yes I understand people's fears of remakes, but honestly, out of the thousands upon thousands of sets Lego has produced, they are still releasing cool new fresh sets. (This year being an odd one, only because the last 3 exclusives IMO suckkkkk major you know what.) Look at the new technic sets, possibly Big Ben, etc. We already had fantastic models in the GBHQ and brick bank. I feel the worry should start happening when everything becomes a remake or a direct copy. The Death Star, could still be significantly different enough to not hurt any value from the previous two iterations. If the Carousel is true, I doubt, that no matter how different it'll probably hurt the value of the old one. (I differentiate between the two, only because Star Wars fans will pay a price to have a complete UCS collection no matter who you are talking about, and I don't think the people who generally buy the fairground theme are going to exactly be clamoring to have both version of a carousel.) With the snowspeeder, just like the X-wing, I expect that one to take a hit a bit, but I don't think too much, only because of some of the parts and rarity of them will keep the prices high. You guys are also going hard on the speculation as if you know exactly what's coming out. I think you guys need to calm it a bit and just wait until more information trickles in and go from there. One thing I can say about this site, is that even though it has quite the significant amount of members, you know a bunch aren't active, and as far as the entire country/world is concerned, we're smaller than a drop in the bucket. The normal person doesn't follow the news and rumors and everything like we do out here. Most people will just walk into a store, and see a set they like and buy it. I will bet you anything that most people, probably don't even know that some of the 'remakes' are even remakes at all. I know when I first got into this game, I never realized the sets that I had missed out on in the last decade until I discovered this site and did more research. Mainly because I became a fanatic again like when I was a kid. So without knowing, the first few times I walked into a Lego store, I never would've known if anything had ever been released before.

  19. I'm like you. I buy any sets that are for my personal collection on the front end so I know I won't be caught short ( I made that mistake as a noob in 2014 with the Haunted House and Town Hall and ended up spending probably an extra $90 over RRP to buy the pair on eBay). Once I've purchased what I want for my own use, then I start picking up things for reselling purposes. Sure it screws with the theoretical CAGR, but I'm not likely to sell my personal copies anyway.

  21. So I don't have to worry about getting one for me at the end, and to play, of course. I'll work up a discount with points/rewards or something.

  22. Buy it and build it - it´s an excelllent set. 200 euros was RRP so that´s a great deal 2 years later. I would not make it part of an investment strategy for reasons mentioned above.

  23. As I mentioned before, not retiring PS will do more damage to many´s portfolios than re releasing an oldie. I would say there is a more than 50% chance of CC coming back in the next 5 years.

  27. LEGO Star Wars Naboo Starfighter I believe is 13 dollars at local Walmarts. Per slickdeals

  28. Well. If the deals are good enough you should ask if your western friend could pick up at one of 2 kmarts and a sears near him.

  29. Our companies don't have the buying power that the OS stores have. Our retailers are wholesalers at RRP - 30% but US/UK could be closer to 50% hence the stronger discount

  30. Sure. And the effective price of it on Thursdays at TRU is $141 with 20% coupon, 10% CC and 15% GC with no taxes for those that are tax exempt. And that's not including rewards dollars you'll receive for future 'effective pricing'.

  32. I can understand those who have been in the game for the past decade not being thrilled about remakes. But as a collector who missed most of those sets, I will probably buy 6 out of 12 on the list, in addition to the Ghostbusters Firehouse I already own. As an investor, the biggest issue I see with TLG releasing this many D2C sets is that it may reduce demand for retired sets as collectors can get a lot more for their money buying new sets at RRP.

  35. That's why my travel kit packs one of these: http://www.amazon.com/HooToo-Wireless-Performance-TripMate-Hotspot/dp/B00HZWOQZ6. Most if not all hotel rooms also have a wired connection - that's where this baby goes and voila, I have my own private WiFi network without congestion from other guests, plus a streaming media server (if you put a few movies on a USB flash drive and insert it into the HooToo). Pair this with a Google Chromecast to turn the hotel TV into a netflix watching station and you're golden. Works in the car too - instant WiFi network in the car. They have versions with built-in battery pack as well. EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention this box is smaller than a box of matches.

  37. I beg to differ. It shows that you either: 1.) Have the credit to secure an expensive car 2.) Have have a relative (mom, dad, uncle) that was nice enough to buy you a car 3.) Actually have cash. It is a TERRIBLE indicator how someone is doing on the whole financially. While you might have the income to buy a car, it does not mean you are smart with money. There are many people I have met over the years that drive Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Acura, or whatever vehicle you might insert here, but ultimately, they are not wealthy. There are many people who feel the need to keep up with everyone else. Many can afford a nice car, but ultimately it is not the best indicator. On the same front, I have met many people out there, who aren't flashy, don't own anything of consequence, but ultimately, they are more financially secure than people with six figure salaries. There is a BIG difference between making a good salary and being financially secure. Many people just feel the need to keep up with Jones'. Ultimately, it's your bank statements and portfolio statements that truly tell you someone's worth. Not what car you drive or what clothes you wear. It was from a very famous book from the 1990's "The Millionaire Next Door." It primarily discusses the attributes of millionaires. The reason it is the F-150 is because the majority of millionaires in the US are not rock stars and actresses. They are business owners. Business owners need cars that are usable and have utility. You aren't going to be moving much stock in a Ferrari or Porsche.

  40. Hey Ed, I've got a question for you--On the first page of the Bubble Thread, you said "For years, Jeff and I would hang in the Battlefield forums on the XBOX site and the forum members all thought that the developer, DICE, was listening to them and adapted their business strategy around some fanboys and their whims. I think the same thing applies with LEGO investors, which as a whole, make up a small percentage of all LEGO customers. We think we affect LEGO and their sales practices...I really doubt it." Obviously, you can't have it both ways. Has your opinion evolved over the past 3+ years?

  41. One big thing changed Ed. The kids did: they grew up. The AFOLs were nowhere back then. Now it is perfectly accepted by society to play with LEGOs, people look at it the same way as skiing. In some creative circles it is even hip. I am not saying that your point of view is invalid since I also think that resellers exacerbate demand, but it is not the whole story. Even in Hungary, where wages are a fraction of what you can see in the US people are flocking to the stores when new exclusives come out. So I would not be all doom and gloom, on the other hand in my opinion sets like Hoth hurt LEGO even more than certain remakes. You can't sell a terd if you put a ribbon on it (UCS badge) and it offends people who are fans of the line. The premium appeal is at stake here.

  44. I sold a Spiderman Cycle Chase for $25, Superman Black Zero Escape for $25, Batman Man-Bat Attack for $25, Joker Bumper Car polybag for $10, and a City High Speed Chase for $15. Buy in was $13.99, $13.06, $17.43, $4.35, and $6.46. I made a profit of $44.71. Not too bad and I'm glad I'm thinning out my Superhero sets. I've had them for a while and felt like I was never able to get rid of them. Especially the Superman Black Zero Escape sets.........big stinkers if you ask me.

  45. +1 And after watching the Star Wars Rebels finale last night, it made me even more depressed at how unoriginal and rehashed TFA played out. Sorry, not dragging Rebels into TFA thread, but for comparison's sake, I thought Rebels finale was class! Did meet Kylo Ren in Hollywood Studios the other day, he was very menacing in person. Kids were terrified.
