  1. It's time to use them EBay Bucks $100 Babies R Us Gift Card for $85 - EBay Daily Deal $100 Barnes and Noble Gift Card for $88 - EBay Daily Deal
  2. We built this set over the weekend. I think it's a big winner. Really genius that they selected it. My son has spend the whole weekend off and on building new mazes. It just fits the Lego mindset so brilliantly. Then the little bastard made a covered maze where you can only see the start and finish spots. That is frustrating let me tell you.

Finished my waterfall moc. Might tinker with the plants on and off.
  4. Today I built the 75095 Tie Fighter and I didn't mind the repetitive parts of the build because you can essentially build two sections at once. I really appreciated the detail given by the design team at the front of the manual but I greatly detested being instructed to put stickers on AFTER attaching the wings to the cockpit AND placing pieces to secure the wings and obstruct the panel that I have to put stickers on. It would have been much better to put the stickers on earlier. **Make a note - if you plan to build this, and use the stickers, put the 4 arrow stickers on before you attach the wings.** This is a very accurate depiction of a Tie Fighter but it still a very weak UCS compared to other large Star Wars sets. I really find this inferior compared to the most recent UCS sets that I have built: the Imperial Shuttle, Super Star Destroyer, and Red 5 X-wing to name a few. One thing that really detracts from the final display is the clumsy stand that blends in too much with the wings. I would love to see Lego create clear technic pieces to make the UCS sets appear that they are in flight. The stand works great for sets that have contrasting colors (see 10212) but not as well in this particular case. In the end, I am glad that I own this set for my display but I am happier that I received 1004 points from TLG for the purchase because it's really overpriced based on a piece count and the overall build. My fiancee built the Hot Air Balloon Friends set (to go with our modular town and soon to be built Ferris Wheel). I have loved this set since it came out but it looks like it may be a hard sell from an investment standpoint because it was simply everywhere for too long without selling. I saw these on "empty" Lego shelves in multiple locations over the winter so this is a definite long term hold but it's a great little set and truly unique (no picture).
  5. It is my belief that this particular promotion was geared towards LEGO contributors and LUG members, with the remaining tickets given away by store managers at their discretion. We had to go through the LEGO Ambassador program to get ours, but while I was picking mine up, the store manager was gracious enough to give my wife one, stating she would not have been allowed in the store that morning without one. Jeff did not get one for his wife, so she has to sit in the car. LOL.
  6. I sold 3 of my 12 at-ats for 215.00 each plus shipping over the last week and a half. Averaged close to 100% profit after fees, and shipping. Planning on using this cash on some may the 4th purchases.

Lego tanks, all from the same builder. More on his page.
  8. I have a lot of work ahead of me to turn the missus into someone who would go to a LEGO SW fan event for fun. (1) She'd need to become more interested in SW (she does watch the movies with us... so that's partly done) (2) She recently started complaining about the amount of LEGO we have - little does she know I have about 20 sets waiting for our kids to build .... (3) She's not convinced adults should even be touching LEGO (though she can be swayed provided the setup looks really professional - our Winter Village build didn't get any comments) - I'm hoping to get her to build something with us over the summer, but my hopes are dim. Perhaps if everyone sits at the table with their own set and we have one for her too, that might do the trick (I have a Birds set and a NYC skyline earmarked for that purpose) (4) Shopping for LEGO is not something she'd have patience for. Kudos to all of you who either managed to convert your S.O., or were clever enough to pick someone who already had an interest in LEGO to begin with. LEGO wasn't on my radar when we started dating, and has only slowly crept back into my life over the last 5 years. So I wasn't even aware I had to vet her on her LEGO likes
  9. I am only halfway through this gem of a clip, but CW FANS should watch this as well. There were so much insights to fill in the gap between CW and Rebels especially regarding Ahsoka & Maul (unless you do not want to be spoiled ). Dave Filoni is really a SW fan and knows a lot about it. Seriously, if Disney put Dave Filoni in charge over movie 9 and beyond I would stop complaining about ANY SW movie past or present Too bad the cameraman seemed to fall asleep towards the end of the clip ETA: Damn just listen to him dissecting the season 2 finale: temple levels, light & dark, ascend & descend. And tell me you do not want to see something like those in the SW movies as well. Lol now I need to re-watch the season finale again
  10. Can I make a suggestion, this could be one of those things you end up talking about for ages, so maybe someone should start it's own thread and we can get one of the mods to move the rest of the TRU code posts there. We can then try and keep this thread for the deals, few as they are at the moment.
  11. One of my favorite games as a kid. I remember trying to beat my best time over and over. I'm sure I still have it in a box somewhere.

This goes into the duet category but still works for ladies night. Yes, I am still doing that 'cause I'm weird like that. Ha.
  17. They are legit. My company at work has done business with them for years. They probably just got slammed and are trying to catch up. I got mine after about 7-10 days. No issues.
  18. If I got my wife on that list, I'd be in for a lot of trouble ..... ;-)
  19. I sold PA last fall for just over $100 and thought that was a nice return. I had no idea that set could go this high. I also clearly did not buy enough AT-TEs when they were readily available for $60-65. Some recent sales for me: FBA Fallingwater $225 Technic Helicopter 9396 $179 MF Ghost Train $120 Batcave 6860 $120 A-wing $78 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid $50 Council of Elrond $48 Merida's Highland Games $37 Ariel's Amazing Treasures $30 Riddles for the Ring $31 Superman vs. PA Lex $28 (I lost all faith in this set going anywhere. Still made some money but not nearly enough based on how long I've had them.) FBM Sith Fury-class Interceptor $161 + shipping
  20. It's not really pertinent, the deal was that you got gift cards, that deal is over. This is the daily deals thread, as in what deal is available for us right now to grab. This thread is being treated as a generic UK/Europe thread at the moment rather than as a deal thread.
  21. Seems weird to shoot yourself in the foot by pulling a product nationwide due to one shop´s misdemeanours. Is Axl Rose running Lego stock these days too? I´d love PS to TOOS here for 6 months, that´d help slim the market down.
  22. Wwwoooowwwww.....I remember this as a kid. Must find one on ebay, dad and I played this all the time.
  23. So obviously, the genius who designed the B-Wing died sometime between ep 6 & 7 (SW Rebels FTW !!!!!)

  26. Well, we all know this ain't happening.
  27. I guess I shouldn't complain about stupid people. They are the ones that help this community. LOL Maybe I'm just jealous because I went to Target yesterday and couldn't find any.
  28. I just picked up my invitation. Employee said that the free slug set is a poly of falcon escaping the slug. He wanted to show my a pic on his computer but couldn't find it anymore... We will c
  29. Standard Issue, they sent it about one minute before the standard 'Thank you for you order' email (which came through aswell). So basicly they're saying I can possibly buy more Wall-E's in the future
  30. Alrighty then, I pushed it through and we now have a build topic for the proud parents and their creative kids. Official set or unofficial design, supervised project or shared experience, whatever goes.
  31. With May the 4th coming up, what's everyone going to target? I personally have my list. Last year, May the 4th was kinda weak at LEGO Shop at Home, with only a few good deals. In fact, I think everyone was expecting half off death stars, and I think the only things going were some minor discounts on Droid Gunships, MTT's, and AT-TE's.. Target had by far the best deals. I stocked up on at-at's, a couple ISD's, and quite a few cantinas that were at some of the lowest prices I saw throughout the year. So, that leaves this year. Personally, my list this year is two exclusives at shop at home. Then if Target has a decent deal, i'm "targeting" Shuttle Tydirums, Jedi Duels, First Order Transporters, and First Order Tie's. Like last year, the prices have dropped on many of these sets. Many are sitting at 10 to 20.00 cheaper than RRP, which means, if target sweetens the deal with another 10.00 off if you spend X amount, it will be worth grabbing and holding them, because I think many of those will retire by January. I'll probably mix in a rey's speederbike, if needed to get over the price point to get the deal.
  32. Finally found some of the SW sets on sale at B&N. My son will probably want to build the Micro At-at and the Shadow Troopers since we haven't built them yet, but I went ahead and picked up the others given the discount. They had several Mines and City sets too, which I left bc i had already picked up some that I wanted last week. Wish they would put some of the larger SW sets on sale!
  33. The yellow technic corner bricks are going to cost a lot (over 10 EUR now on Bricklink), but they are not visible from the outside so can easily be replaced by the cheaper black ones (the only color that is still in production).
  34. Will do. He's 7, so it wasn't too intricate from the outside, but I was surprised how hard it was to tell where the dang ball was on a basic maze when it was covered.
  35. Too many eBayers with too much time. I do not care if you find cheaper sets elsewhere.
  36. Motorized Mini Golf Maze Maze with Cars Benny's Maze Maze MAZE!
  37. 30+ more lbs of loose bulk for $225 + shipping. I bought the lot for $75, picked out the minifigures / accessories and non Lego junk. And It all came with one of these that I kept.

  39. Here's the real May 4th offer: Edit to add: Another poster on Eurobricks as said they've seen a picture of the set, and that it's small - around 150 pieces. They also mentioned the scale to be similar to that of an Advent Calendar MF.
  40. For those who don't have every # memorized, 75021 is a Republic Gunship. 75038 is the Jedi Interceptor.
  41. Simple.........just explain to him that money is more important than his happiness. Also explain to him that Lego is not a toy, it's a commodity only.
  42. "You don't know you're in the good old days until you've actually left them." I am not sure how many of you have read my postings over the last 2 months since I joined in January, so I will give you a very brief intro to my background. While I am a relatively new Brickpicker member, I am certainly not new to this game. I was in it huge from 2004-2007, Had many UCS xwings, UCS Tie Interceptors, UCS ISD, UCS Y-wings, UCS Snowspeeders, CTT, Cloud Cities etc. While I was not an emazer level operation, I was running about 3,000-4,000 in volume on an average month and reached Bronze Powerseller level, so not too bad. However, in 2007, due to life changes I started selling off my stock without reinvesting. I cashed out and did not ante back up. Over the last 8 years since I sold of my last Clone Turbo Tank in 2008, I have peripherally watched the market. I have seen various sets rise to proportions never thought possible (10179), and some falter secondary to remakes. On occasion I would surf Amazon just to see what the lowest buy price would be, many times wishing I was still in it. I would visit the Lego store when I happened to be in Disney World just to check out what sets were out, seeing the exponential increase in sets being produced. In January, I happened to be walk into a Lego Store in a mall with my son, and was just shocked as to just how many licensed sets there were. I was also impressed with just how accurate some of the newer sets were in likeness to the actual original model (Wall-E and Ecto01.) Suddenly, I had this itch to get back in the game again, that I just could not resist. Luckily, over the last year, several life changes had allowed me to pursue this endeavor again for the second time. So I decided to get back into the game. For the record, I did not get into the game because of a USA Today or WSJ article. In all honesty, I am awful with politics and current events, so I had no idea how far Lego resale, or what is now called "brickvesting" had now become. I had no idea this was even being covered on a national level, until I decided to start back into Lego Resale. So I began googling about Lego sets, and to my shock, there were national news articles about Lego investing and even a WHOLE WEBSITE devoted to Lego Investing. All I could think about about was how far this had come in 8 years. From 2004-2007, there were minimal Lego and AFOL websites. There was bricklink and fbtb.net, and the only big forum community was on fbtb. And that was mostly Star Wars Legos without a whole lot about anything else. Although, in all honesty, back then there were minimal exclusives, and really Star Wars Lego's were the only think worth investing in. So I discovered this Brickpicker, and I just happened to get in at the time the Tumbler was retiring, so this place was on fire about the retirement of this Iconic set. In all honesty, this set was the set that pulled me out of retirement as it seems like such a good investment. I still believe the Tumbler is a great investment, however, reading the forums for the last two months caused me to realize just how much has changed in 8 years, and how much more difficult this will be now than it was from 2004-2007. It took me a while to figure just what changed. Lego's were such a guarantee before. Ebay and the internet while young and in it's infancy was still a known commodity and widely available in 2004-2007. People knew what items were selling for. You could search completed listings and know that Lego's could net a good sum of money. People had hopped onto various collectible fads in that time from Magic cards, beanie babies, furbies, baseball cards, and tons of other garbage. Lego had ALWAYS been immune because it was not a fad. It never had major publicity but was always reasonably popular. So what changed? As I read article after article, I finally noticed a pattern. It was 10179. This was the game changer, and quite frankly the worst thing to happen to Lego Investing. 10179 came out right about the time I was leaving my Ebay business. At the time, no one would touch this thing with a ten foot pole from an investment standpoint. It was already hard enough shipping 10030 ISD's. When I would ship an ISD, I would go to the grocery store, get a ton of boxes, cut them up and jury rig some kind of cardboard container. It was painfully time intensive. How the heck was someone gonna find boxes for a 10179? The weight, size, and investment of $500 (although it was pretty much permanently on sale around $400) was near insanity. The most expensive set selling at the time was the UCS X wing and it sold used for about $450 usedand MISB around $650-700. So how in the world was the market going to tolerate selling 10179 to make a profit. This was even in a time when Ebay fees and paypal fees combined were about 6-7% if I remember correctly. It was basically considered flop from an investment standpoint. It was the Sea Cow of 2007. Oh if we had only known what we know now. Many might ask, how could the single most profitable set of all time be bad for investing? 10179 gave a face to Lego Investing. Before Lego's were just a standard commodity like any other resalable collectable item. Sure some sets might sell for a profit for 200-300, but lots of other collectibles do that. I sold Art Asylum Star Trek Starships for a while and was buying them for $5 dollars and selling for $140-$150. There are tons of reselling opportunities out there if you understand the market, and Lego was just another one like any other toy or collectible. However, 10179 brought it to the forefront. It was the Honus Wagner and Mickey Mantle rookie card of the Lego world. Those cards caused people to jump on to baseball card collecting like no other. People would blindly buy baseball cards with no market research just because of those two cards. Sound familiar? The Mack's state in their webpage bio that part of what stemmed them building this website was 10179. Without 10179 there would be no Brickpicker. Without Brickpicker, there wouldn't be a USA Today headline bringing Lego Investing to the masses. 10179 was what gave bloggers and article writer's a nice catchy headline. "Lego's set sells for $5,000" "Lego's Brick's Better Than Gold Bricks." From the moment 10179 took off, it was all downhill from there in the Lego Investing world. 10179 was basically the coming out party of Lego Investing. People dream of making the big bucks. People dream of hitting gold. 10179 gave people a tangible dream in the Lego Investing market. Before then it was simply a faceless game that some people partook in. I would always get laughed at in any business meeting when people asked what I was investing in, and I told them once I had maxed out all other retirement options, I would probably put some in Lego's. You can only imagine my stares. Now with websites like this and USA today, and WSJ article's I have ammo now to defend my position. Unfortunately, now with the ammo, it is even harder to defend the position. So ultimately, 10179, has caused a spiral of events that will ultimately eventually bring about the end of Lego Investing. Is that likely to happen in the next 10 years? Not likely, but this site is adding 60 new members a day based on the number at the bottom of the main page. Albeit, not everyone is going to invest, and some might join just for the community, but there are some investors in that number. The market is still very strong, and will always remain strong because Lego is not a fad, and Lego will always have demand. Are you likely to lose in Lego Investing, like people lost big in baseball cards and beanie babies. Not likely, unless you are just AWFUL at picking sets, and are completely impatient. However, eventually a time will come, when selling just to cover your initial investment at RRP+Taxes will become standard for most sets. "You don't know you're in the good old days until you've actually left them."
  43. After reviewing the model with my dad, who's been on multiple occasions, I went ahead and did some tweaks. It didn't make sense that the mountain would crest above the aqueduct, so I trimmed it a bit. Then, looking at every arial shot, I couldn't avoid the fact that the hillside is completely forested. So I built some trees, had to get a little creative to make them small enough/fit the scale. Used a similar idea to what's done on the Detective's Office street tree, but smaller. Put in some green slopes here and there to dot the rocks with greenery. Then added a display stand and tiles, to label it like an Architecture set. New projected price point ~$602 according to BrickOwl's calculator. It requires 12 ultra rare parts, the "Tan Slope 1x2 Triple" (the cap pieces to the angled flanges on the bottom tier struts). There is only 1 seller in the world with stock, and he's charging $5.35 per piece. I guess there are more expensive parts out there, but rarely do you need 12 (or in the case that my dad wants a copy, 24) of them. Ugh. Quite happy with how it's turned out though! It would be super cool if Lego explored an "Ancient Architecture" sub theme at some point in the future. At this scale I suppose this is sort of a cross between Architecture and Creator Landmark, but it sure would be cool if they did it at any scale! Edit: ^^ Click in and go Full size, it's a huge detailed render, preview on the thread doesn't do justice to BlueRender's abilities!
