At my store, anything I look at they say "it's retiring soon." It doesn't matter what it is. It's always "it's retiring soon"...6 points

A year ago when I was a noob at this, a Lego store employee told me that Tower Bridge was retiring and that it would be their last shipment. Obviously, he was full of ****. As I look at the box in my storage, I find solace in the fact that it might make me some money in the year 2026. Never again Lego salesman, never again.5 points

"deceives office" sounds interesting. Today I built 41176 The Secret Market Place. The mechanism that allows the forges' hammer to strike the sword on the anvil is cool. Overall it's a really nice set though I think that the proportions of the green dragon are a little bit off. 41118 Heartlake Super Market I finished before is a good small set though it would benefit from having complete sidewalls. Also, I had some fun assembling the minidolls. As I'm always interested in adding cool printed pieces to my collection I wasn't disappointed with these sets. 41118 offered a new biscuit/cookie tile (the one with jelly), a sushi tile and a chocolate bar tile (upper row) while 41176 offers a grass/moss tile, a dragon banner and a book with dragon print and a dragon-print tile inside (lower row). The new food pieces are more interesting to me as I love LEGO food.4 points

So you went to the Lego store, with no intention to buy a Pet Shop. You inquired about it, and the manager gave you a sales pitch, and you bought 4? I don't get it......The store manager changed your mind, and you bought 4????4 points

This set is very close to done IMO. Of course the supply on the secondary market is massive so we can expect plenty of " well at least it beats savings account returns" posts in the future. Time to take the modular market behind the barn.3 points

I absolutely think you did the right thing Ken. I was hoping you would stand strong and let the case play out. There was nothing to worry about here. A buyer made you an offer, you accepted, and then they failed to pay. If buyers are issued an unpaid item strike, they are not allowed to leave feedback. The system automatically prevents it. Think about it, how in the world are they able to leave feedback for a transaction they did not even pay for? As a seller, if it's not likely to cost you $100's of dollars, it's usually better to just swallow your pride, give the other side what they want, and move on. I really, really disagree with the above statement. I have always provided excellent customer service but I have never believed that the customer is always right. In this case, they were not. They failed to pay for the item they made an offer on. No problem with that, but I would not have cancelled this transaction. Again, if they do not pay, eBay will give them a strike. There should be no fear of negative feedback b/c they will be blocked from leaving feedback. I refuse to give in to customers that think they can do whatever the hell they want and will not contribute to further enabling buyers to think this way. This is exactly why some customers do this kind of stuff; unfortunately some sellers feed their habit. Great job Ken!3 points

I really miss the excitement over the VW T1. It really is awesome and most of what we hear nowadays is loathing over the fact that it is still around.2 points

My target the 20% off in today's add worked on the sets previously discounted. Not great but I got the hot air balloon for 15.00 as it was marked down to 19 then 20% off and elves sled with horses for $23 as it was marked down to around 30 from 39.99 then 20% off.2 points

Looks like it's $20 off your eBay purchase, whatever you choose that to be. If you need time to think about it, buy $100 of eBay digital gift cards2 points

Seriously? The longest released, most over-hoarded modular in Lego History? I take your post as jest. Your request is counter to any objective investment goal from any serious player in this game.2 points
-
That question is way too vague. Satisfactory to who and for what purpose? The goal of the individual investor is different and at different levels they reach satisfaction. The investment angle "How to make money" is extremely hard to quantify and determine how to make money .The At-At, Imperial Star Destroyer, Town Hall and Brick Bounty are all good examples of sets that have good one year potential to review, The Super Star Destroyer is also a good one. The Star Wars mini Sets - series 1 might be worth a look as well. Just some ideas...since you asked. But everyone is going to have different ideas. THe Mack's (they run this site) wrote a book on this and there is a lot of information there in a bit more of a concise presentation.2 points

Recent weeks, I've been building modular buildings one set per week. So far I've built PS, PC, PR and GE. I'm also working on a project to bricklink 10182, 10185 and 10190.2 points

The bags inside were new and everything was there. I don't really understand the issue. Being this long into retirement, there is a good chance this person popped the seals to make sure they weren't selling you a tampered box (you should appreciate that). I also don't understand the outrage if you're going to open it. Also, if you already have the playset why didn't you just buy the minifig?2 points

Well so it should be. I'd be disappointed if it said "used" at the prices they charge.2 points

Many on this site are either aware of MOCpages, view it, or have a page of their own. For ya'all, you know exactly what I am talking about Whole story at http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/4263942 points

They most likely were not tampered with. Rather they popped and then restuck.... poorly. Since all is there and you were going to open it anyway feel free to leave good feedback. Please do message him to let him know that the seals were popped. This will make him more careful in the future...hopefully.2 points

Finally had time to make the 2+ hour trek to Atlanta to one of the LEGO stores for double VIP and picked up the following: 1. 10240 Creator Tower Bridge for $239. Wifey says "the Tower Bridge is mine, and I haven't built it yet. Why don't you buy the damaged box one they have today for me to build and we can save the pristine box one for a rainy day" 2. 71006 Simpson's House for $199 (I decided my recent BN Kwik-E-mart acquisition needed a friend). I picked up an extra 1000 VIP points because the seals were loose on one flap of each box and the manager had to secure them with some extra clear tape. As they are both for personal builds, I welcome the extra $50 discount. No other box damage noted. 3. Complete set of 9 figures from Mixels series 7 for $45. I've only seen these in person at one store so far, with no discounts available. Double VIP seemed reasonable. 4. Pitates chess 40158 for $49. My boys want this this set for Easter, so wifey told me I was buying it. I know better than to argue. 5. Easter chick 40202 for $10. Wifey hands one to me and says "why don't I have one of these yet, they're cute?" (Of course I have 5 coming in the mail Monday). 6. 3 X Ninjago KAI's mini dragon 30422 for $0.2 points

Lego gave it a new box recently. I wouldn't count on it disappearing any time soon. It could always happen of course but I wouldn't hold my breath...1 point

Today I purchased a Kwik-E-Mart for around 164€ from Toys'R'Us (had to buy Dribbal & Slusho, too). My excuse: @Haay made me do it!1 point

Following up on yesterday's Target preview, it seems a number of City, Friends, and Duplo sets are 20% off. Looks like only that one Jurassic World set got the 20% off.1 point

I for one don't think a new box design will help resale value of any kit including Pet Shop. Do you build with a box? Have you ever seen anyone display the kit box either sealed or opened? Well of course I mean, outside of the people here who are resellers and boastfully display sealed kit boxes for future resale. I've never seen any builder display an opened kit box. I think the reason The Lego Group redesigns large scale Creator kit boxes is because the new redesigns are smaller in dimension. It saves shelf space and transposition costs.1 point

Happy Sunday at Toys'R'US in both Netherlands www.toysrus.nl and Toys'R'Us Germany www.toysrus.de. 15% discount on all Lego, topdeals excluded, and with an order of minimum 3 items. TRU Germany has the Slave-1 available, amongst others. So it can be had for €175. The UCS Tie Fighter is also elegable for the discount (available as well on the Dutch TRU, unlike the Slave-1). And TRU Germany has Wall-E as well. These sets are all maximum 1 per order. Minifigs series 14 are available at TRU Netherlands, so it's also possible to order 1 desired item and add 2 minifigs to get the required 3 items.1 point

I was reading this and formulating a response but then I got distracted by the Lego themed wedding and your bride dressed as Queen Amidala and well, frankly, I can't get past it. I need some more information on this wedding plan. I need photos or some mock-up costume designs, or save the date cards, or well... something.1 point

Today I managed to finish building the Grand Emporium. For the photo I placed it between 10246 and 41101 which were built in the past two weeks. Some people complain about the built being repetitious but I didn't mind that. What I did find noticeable when I opened the bags was the absence of a brick seperatator as Its regular inclusion in bigger sets is something one gets accustomed to with time. I still have a second GE to realize an extension of this modular building at some point. The parts of two GEs might not be enough though.1 point
