So I sold a red 5 at cost to a fellow collector in my area as he missed out on it. I was sad as I only had 2. Today it totally paid off. He found and picked up a monster haunted house for me new in box for 325. Side note- I really love the haunted house and wanted it for my own collection. I wanted to buy it when it came out but was afraid to tell my husband I was spending so much on toys he likes them too now!!!10 points

I hate when long time members change their screen name. It's like "who the heck is this person with 1000 or more posts that I've never heard of."4 points

Yes, some Seasonal or Holiday sets sell quick and don't come back. This set is not seasonal or holiday. It'll be like the birthday cake topper, which will sell out from time to time, then return.3 points

My TRU had 20% off on all Technic, City and Super Heroes sets. I was surprised they had two AROCS trucks in store so I grabbed one. I think 183 $ isn't bad for this nice truck :-)2 points

Oh I have to disagree. I load up on Chima at 95% off. At a mere 90% discount, I leave it on the shelves, obviously, but at 95% I'll rent a U-Haul and clear out the store. Once the price of oil recovers a bit, melt value alone justifies ABS plastic bits at 95% off MSRP...2 points

I built the Simpsons House and as the final touch I modified the figures a bit to match regular minifigures. The house is huge and seems well worth the price for what you get. There's some really nice builds that I can see myself incorporating elsewhere, e.g. the TV set or the mailbox, but the color scheme of the interior decoration is a little too over the top to use elsewhere. Due to its suburban architecture the SH doesn't fit in very well with the regular modulars so I'll probably tear it apart for parts again as tan is always useful. Also, I finished the build of the Starlight Inn. There's some nice printed elements including printed windows. Spark (the little dragon) is really cute and the red parts of its body are in transparent red which looks cool. The build is very straightforward though i cannot remember seeing the use of a panel as bedding box before.2 points

Really? A toy must be purchased by a 6, 8, 10 or 12 year old to be successful? How many 75120 Raptor Escape were bought by 12 yo last Christmas? How many do you think were sold? LEGO investing might not be the right game for you if you believe a toy must be bought by the targeted demographic for it to be successful. That's what parents and grandparents are for. And as mentioned earlier, if a kid plays a game all the time and loves LEGO, most parents and grandparents equate that to a sure fire win at Christmas. If you doubt that, check the sales figures for every Minecraft set from late October to December the last 2 years.1 point

Just remember that for these figures that are listed, we are looking for static clean shots to be used in the info part of the book, they do not need to be glamour shots. If you want to take some fun shots with these figures great, but we are looking for simple shots like this as well, usually from a few angles.1 point

I love Batman & especially the classic tv show. I think they should have gave us a Batgirl minifig. If Lego wants to keep selling us high end sets they need to stop giving us so many dang stickers. When I pay a premium, I expect premium product in return. Otherwise, great review, cool set I will be buying.1 point

Tough to answer because the real answer is the dreaded "depends". I buy anything SW at 50% plus and almost anything non-Chima-non-bionicle at 65%+ off. Exclusives or sets I am targeting can be less of a discount, but there is almost always a way to get sets for a decent discount if you're patient and opportunistic. All that being said, I live in a nice location for WM finds...so that might give me a higher discount bar than average.1 point

I know right? Based on your usual findings, CMF 10 should not show up until 2017. Forget bee girl, you might find a Mr. Gold1 point

And soon after, a lego law firm specalising in pre-nups and divorces as there would be nothing more pathetic than 2 lego collectors fighting over the estimated value of their respective stashes. They could name the firm Brick Separations.1 point
