Not new here...almost one year. But after living in Southeast Asia for almost four years, I have moved back to the U.S.A. The greatest country in the World. Can't wait for my U.S. Flag. Best of all my local Kmart is still open!!! I feel privileged to be an American.5 points

This is a great project that we undertook with our 6 year old as a way of making him a part of our "sales team." The map represents about 160 sales from 2015, starting with our first Lego sale in March. Each customer gets a pin on the map and then as we ship to a new state my son gets to use the computer to look up an interesting fact about that state, and then write it in a journal. That way he is learning cool facts, and practicing his handwriting and computer skills. I bet he is the only kid in his class that knows what a peninsula is (Florida), or what the state song of Connecticut is (Yankee Doodle). Ive been waiting for a sale to Alaska so we can learn about archipelagos, but that may just be the geography nerd in me coming out. Multiple sales to a city get a larger pin, and we have them for the cities you would expect like New York, Chicago, LA. Some surprising ones too like Chattanooga Tennessee. Wouldn't have guessed that one but we ship quite a few items to multiple buyers there. I wish now that I would have sprung for the bigger world map, as we have had 15 international sales that could have been added on that I was not anticipating having made. Besides being a great learning project for my son, it has been useful to me to validate our shipping fee practices as I can easily see where most of my customers are from, and although it is skewed towards the east coast, I still have a fair amount headed out west. I know this wouldn't be practical for some here as their volume is much too large, but for a small timer like myself this is a fun way to involve your kids in your hobby. And have something cool on your wall that people will ask about. My thanks go out to everyone here for the advice and insights over the past year, and I wish everyone a great 2016!4 points

US-based online retailers now have the latest Lego Star Wars sets in-stock. Each set looks to be fun builds with neat features and desirable minifigures. Battle on Takodana 75139 , $59.99 This 409 piece is Lego's first attempt at creating a scene from Maz Kanata's castle. Lego is usually "hit or miss" with playsets and set 75139 is probably a "miss" with regards to the castle itself. A small portion of the castle's entrance can be built including the main door and wall that contains a falling tree. The banner above the door is a nice touch and screen accurate although it should be one of many. Included minifigures are Finn, Maz Kanata, unmasked Kylo Ren and 2 First Order Stormtroopers. Ren and Finn's lightsabers are among the included accessories. The set is the most affordable method of obtaining Finn and Ren minifigures. Both Maz and this version of Ren are exclusive to 75139. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017B1BTD2/? http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=jfOcdvfTNg4&subid;=&offerid=115554.1&type=10&tmpid=2294&RD_PARM1=http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Battle-on-Takodana-75139 Resistance Troop Transporter 75140, $69.99 Set 75139 contains 646 elements. 4 minifigures are included: Princess Leia, Admiral Ackbar and 2 Resistance Troopers. Although not mentioned in the film, Troop Transports are built using parts from B-Wings (and it shows nicely). This set is a nice addition to owners of the Battle on Takodana since it's film's key appearance is on that planet. Leia and Ackbar are exclusive. At 12" long and 4" deep, this set is well sized and perfect for swooshing. http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Resistance-Troop-Transporter-75140/dp/B017B1BTXW//? http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=jfOcdvfTNg4&subid;=&offerid=115554.1&type=10&tmpid=2294&RD_PARM1=http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Resistance-Troop-Transporter-75140 Both sets are great additions for Star Wars fans of all ages especially children. I would recommend these two sets for AFOLs, builders but not investors. In my opinion, either set will to be remade in 2-4 years and / or the included exclusive minifigures (e.g unmasked Ren, Maz) will be in other sets. I also think the minifigures in the Transport won't have too much demand other than Leia. Finally, Star Wars playlets since the late 2000s haven't been solid investments. At the end of the day, I ask myself if buying sets (as investments) are worth the storage space. I doubt these 2 will be. note: all prices above are suggested retail. View full blog article2 points

Some of us paid less than that so it´s not a waste of time! Gotta sell X wings to finance the purchase of more sea cows - oh, wait....2 points

2 sold today. I need to rethink my strategy for selling on eBay2 points

I agree with junkrigger The Sea Cow has solid attributes going for it other than most sets, the ship itself. It doesn't need to rely on minifigs to carry it.2 points

Can't disagree more. Both of the other ships have almost no freeboard, carnival colored or straight black sails, no thanks. The aft section construction on BP is weak at best, using arches and is the worst aft section on a lego ship I have ever seen, and they are both just tiny compared to SC which has nice classic tall ship colors. Granted its a little fantasy oriented but seriously if I were choosing based on current prices after looking at that photo of the three its no contest, the other two just don't measure up. The QAR is a little better still SC is a far larger, better proportioned and better equipped ship for current value. Uncertain if it will increase in value enough for good investment, but for todays prices SC all the way.2 points

Agreed. With 5 shark suit guys per case it looks like Lego is giving the people what they want. With scenes like these pictured at several targets I wonder how many of those Series 13 have any Hot Dog suit guy with 3 per case. Not to mention series 14 and Simpsons 2 are still readily available. I am going with one case for personal collection on these and hoping that the Disney series is more promising.2 points

It started because we were going to use most of the profits from our venture to help pay for a trip to Disney World. Since we would be pulling our son out of kindergarten for a week, the school requires it to be an educational trip. I know there are websites devoted to showing how Disney IS educational, but we wanted to really do it. So this was just one facet of getting ready for the trip. One side result is when we are looking at a potential set to sell or to keep for ourselves, I can just ask my son, "would you rather keep this set and build it, or if we sell it it could pay for an extra day at Disney?" Almost 100% of his answers have been to sell. Plus he gets to get some kind of concept about how big our country is. Right now everything is measured in his standard units, like "this city is 10 trips to grandmas house away", or "82 episodes of Phineas and Ferb away." I was really into geography as a kid. This map is actually 30 some tears old. I got it out of one of my dad's National Geographic magazines. I still have a collection of maps from those magazines. When I look at the map, I know that I do have sales going out to affluent areas in California, but they are mostly smaller items that I can do free first class shipping on. I could offer free shipping and expand to those areas, but thanks partly to my map I also can see that a large portion of my larger sets go to New Jersey with customer-paid shipping. So there is obviously a market close to me for my items that I can tap into and have them pay for shipping.2 points

I'm somewhat on the fence about buying this set (for my personal collection). I have the feeling that if I would put it into my Modular city, it would look the wrong scale compared to the other buildings. Like in this picture that I found on the internet (this was a MOC not the official set) http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92672&st=0 If anyone here's doing something like that, could you post some pics?2 points
