Ok, the data I have since 2007 is as follows: Format: Year/New Exclusives / Retirements 2007/ 5 / no data 2008/ 7 / no data 2009/ 6 / 6 2010/ 7 / 6 2011/ 7 / 5 2012 / 8 / 7 2013/ 9/ 3 2014/ 8/ 11 2015/ 9/ 3 confirmed + Red 5. DS, SW, PS, Tumbler??? This is based on EU set launch and retirement dates. I have the full list of launched and retired sets but it is too much work to type up - bbrickset is your friend for that kind of thing. As we can see, 2013 and 2014 stand out for the few and many retirements but the overall average prior to 2015 is 7 launches and 6 retirements per year (hello Mr Death Star, T1 and Tower Bridge!)8 points

All this time I thought that was my default. Seriously, before today, all my sales were immediately paid. Changing all my listings... You gotta watch your eBay listings like a hawk. I have that stuff happen to me sometimes. That or Free Shipping or what counties I ship to - all occasionally change from my standard.3 points

Oh and I just bought a used 10030(finally) on Ebay. He accepted my $900 offer. No box though. Instructions are in great condition. Seller has good feedback selling a bunch of UCS sets so I'm stoked. Earned me $54 in EBucks too2 points

I built 6955 Space Lock-Up Isolation last night. This was included in a bulk lot I got off CL. I have never owned this set or built it and I was a little skeptical about it overall when looking at the instructions. It is an older space set from 1989. This is an amazing set! Not the most detailed, but it has one of the coolest play features I have seen in awhile. The entire platform/ holding cell/ satellite array pivots and rotates when turning the wheel on the side! The little cell can fit onto the shuttle and the shuttle can dock on the moving platform. I can imagine kids playing with this for hours. Once I get the parts cleaned up I will be posting a YouTube video of it. Surprisingly there is nothing on YouTube already.2 points

Architecture - feel free to move if not in correct thread: Year / sets launched / sets / retired / sets available at end of year 2008/2/0/2 2009/4/0/6 2010/4/2/8 2011/4/1/11 2012/4/0/15 (record high) 2013/3/6/12 2014/2/4/10 2015/3/6 (TBC) /7 TBC Studio is not counted but the limited edition sets like Robie, Ssung and MS are. If all retirig soon sets go by end of year, we will have the lowet number of sets since 2010. Six new sets are confirmed for 2016 so far.2 points

It's really dumb this counts as a return as well. I figured it was a return status when they kept asking for my ID. So dumb...2 points

I wanted to highlight your post. Maybe I've missed something like this In the past, but think it's important to mention. We have that spreadsheet for the modulars. It would be interesting to take it a step further and do one for all exclusives. How many exclusives have we gotten in any one year? How many have retired in that same year? How many exclusives do we typically see on the shelf at any one time. By no means is it some secret insight, but it does offer some additional analysis for consideration.2 points

Although Amazon will allow you to set a restocking fee, in practice, it is something that is pretty dangerous to use since saavy customers can simply file an A-to-Z claim to avoid the restocking fee and those will really screw up your metrics in a hurry. The better practice in my experience is just accept the return, swallow any loss that you take on it, and move on. In the long run, maintaining good metrics is far more important than the loss that you might take on a single item.2 points

So, the EU retiring soon list makes for a possible New Year sale on whatever is not sold out by then. Intriguing that Tumbler seems to be the surprise large exclusive retirement of 2015. Our definitive 2015 exclusive list seems to contain 6 items: EEE, Red 5, ToO, Seacow, DS and tumbler with PS strangely absent.2 points

Not a spoiler but more of a what if... Darth Plagueis is prob my fav Star Wars book. When they announced the EU was no more, I always wondered why this book wasn't included in the new canon as it was released not that long ago. I wonder if darth Plagueis isn't really dead... I stumbled upon this video last week and forgot to post it. Then I was reminded about it after reading this blog. http://makingstarwars.net/2015/12/people-magazine-confirms-snokes-height-and-weight-from-star-wars-the-force-awakens/2 points

I just wanted to share a special moment I just had with those of you that are thinking of contributing and would really like to see your published work on the store shelves. Today was finally the first day I got to go to a store and see if the book was available. I got to say it was a pretty surreal moment to walk down the isle and then see your name on the spine mixed in with the rest. It was a lot of work, but in the end I am grateful that we were giving the opportunity and this next book will be even better.2 points

Good luck getting that feedback removed. You will need persistence or luck in large amounts, maybe both. I had a similar situation last year with an old Star Wars polybag set. The mom who bought it let her kid open it and build it then left negative feedback for it being "so small" and "such a ripoff". I even bold / highlighted the piece count in my listing description... It took a lot of convincing eBay that her "honest experience" had nothing to do with my performance as a seller, only her failure to be a responsible buyer.2 points

No kidding. I see this only going up for the considerable future. .. so, i'm not selling the remanding sets I have. I really do think this hits 250 ish before swimming the plateau.1 point

I almost posted a few days ago to ask where they're located. In my area, they've been on an endcap several aisles away from the LEGO aisle, typically with the pegs of Xmas Tree or Joker Bumper Car polybags. The boxes are small enough and I usually only see 5 or so lined up so they're easy to miss (or not out at all). I had to ask and they pulled out a box of them from the back. If you haven't already, be sure to check the Inventory Tracker: http://www.brickpicker.com/target-inventory/index.cfm 204-00-1716 I know the tracker & DCPI have already been mentioned several times and in OP, just posted for quick access.1 point

If it was such a bad seller, why has SAH always had it pegged at max 1 or 2? On the other hand, its price was reduced in some SAH´s earlier this year. If the price of production and tyres was so high, whu launch cheaper sets using the same tyres just when this one is announced as retiring? There is a lot of contradiction with this set but maybe the most logical explanation is they want to clear the shelves for the new movie as they have done with OT SW items. Should we now be more bearish about EV and SC retirement?1 point

10188 - DS is done most probably. Saw one in the lego store Oberhausen today. The employee also said that the Pet Shop was done, should be gone in January to free shelf space for the Brick Bank, for what it's worth.. And oh yeah, manager said that TB will live a long and happy live also next year (I know, wrong thread).1 point

Not around me. I got some during the promotion and some after the promotion ended since there were so many. Target told people this year they were gone and no more would show up. Lo and behold, they have now shown up with a price tag after not having them in stock for the promotion. They could have at least done a solid and given a raincheck if they came in stock at some point. Like I said earlier, folks in store were pissed that right at the beginning of the promotion they were told there was no freebie even though the whole aisle was plastered with signs for the promo. I personally don't care, don't even know who the hell Lightning Lad is, just think it's bad P R.1 point

I know Ed already asked the publisher, but I don't think I would count on adding a signature to each photo. Your credit will be given next to the photo as well as in your bio. Photos will not be able to be released until after the book is published, which will probably be around the same time as the first book came out. If people release the photos before the book comes out, who would care to buy the book to see the photos.1 point

It´s a good point but that didn´t stop Jabba´s Palace retiring before Rancor Pit when they are combinable and advertised as such or the modulars on the back of boxes in street formation. How much longer till it becomes the longest running CUUSO set?1 point

Last week I built the 10246 Detective's Office and although I appreciate it, I don't really love it. It's very small compared to other buildings and suffers the same problem that the Market Street and Pet Shop have: By splitting the building vertically, the interiors of the building are too small. My other big complaint is that the building is very shallow. The pool hall is very well done and the detective's part is nice but I would prefer a secretary's office across from it. The barber shop exists and I have seen enough 'S' letters in the modular buildings; they don't look good. This week (and weekend), I built the 10243 Parisian Restaurant. I waited until I built the 10246 because of all the great things I had heard about the Restaurant and I wanted this to be just an ok build because I love the Green Grocer... Unfortunately (for me), this set is a construction home run! The details in the dining area and the kitchen are phenomenal, especially the chain fencing. The external staircase really works well with the 2nd dining patio and the adjoining pullout bed is a clever design (needs a rug!). The art loft/studio is a nice addition and I really appreciated the way that the fireplace was designed. Overall, the Parisian Restaurant is a great size and used nice techniques overall, including for the roofing and the first floor pillars, using food accessories, and to create offsets with jumper tiles. Simply a fabulous build and my new favorite. ETA - My only complaint is that the balconies should be one stud deeper on the modular buildings.1 point
