  6. Coolest set around. $35.00, but you can find them cheaper.

  7. Let them post that you can become rich buying Lego, as I stated many times at least 75% of the new would be investors and think they can make tons of money fast, well don't last long, just look at all the people on this site that in the last few years you don't hear from anymore well most of them failed. anybody just starting that think they can buy all the sale items and Exclusives and become rich in a year or so are doomed, and after this Christmas there will be many more failures. People are just itching to sell stuff just to make a few dollars, I mean like $5 or so. Ed

  8. As a 16 year old myself, I'd go for a Super Heroes set over Star Wars (larger mass appeal, even though personally I am a bigger fan of SW). There are also some pretty cool CITY sets that I'd also recommend, and you actually get more since its a non-licensed theme. If you don't mind some research, Brickset has written up an article on 2015 Holiday toy suggestions for sub $25 and $25-$50.

  12. Not helpful... Does this mean it's bad to use an extra box as its a waste or bad to not use an extra box as the Lego might get crushed? I'm guessing the crushed one?? It wasn't helpful but it was funny. Always ship in another box. Period.

  16. This is probably my favorite set of recent memory. The feet are awesome and there is a custom cape you can buy to finish it off. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=2&toolid=10041&campid=5337057111&customid=setsEBAY-US&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466&item=281844304922

  17. I feel like the previous regular version of this set did pretty well post retirement and the reviews have been pretty positive. We've got probably most of a year before it retires, but hopefully some sales soon to clear shelf space for TFA stuff. I think this set would make a great companion piece to either the Ewok Village or the Death Star Final Duel. It's sort of a stretch for the Death Star piece, but I doubt we're going to see an Emperor's Shuttle anytime soon.

  19. Shop Your Way has been very good for me this month. I want to give exciter1 a high five for all his posts about SYW; you've saved me a ton of money! I feel like I've committed a crime with some of these prices. I love KMart! MC 21119: THE DUNGEON - $16.05 MC 21120: THE SNOW HIDEOUT - $13.77 31039: BLUE POWER JET - $56.87 60092: DEEP SEA SUBMARINE - $26.16 [drumroll] 60033: ARCTIC ICE CRAWLER - 48 cents (!)

  21. Yeah, I agree. It's a terrible listing. Simply picturing what was for sale, and saying 'the buyer will receive everything pictured' would have sufficed. I think the buyer was trying a little too hard to sell it. It's never a good idea to picture things that aren't for sale, unless it's very clearly stated that it's not for sale.

  22. I really like the Minecraft sets. I don't play Minecraft, and they still speak to me. They lead to more open ended play and feel like classic LEGO. I love Snow Hideout. Exo Suit has less playability, but is another good choice for that age. It's an uncommon set (outside of LEGO enthusiasts), and his friends will be impressed.

  23. Really? I feel like this charity is very fortunate to have a volunteer like yourself with special skills perfectly suited for buying Lego at the best possible price... seems a shame to "not use your witchcraft". Who are you trying to be... Samantha in Bewitched? So one kid gets a MSRP $40 Lego, and his brother gets a $25 video game (that he wanted) and sister gets some $28 doll (that she wanted) ... is someone really gonna feel like they got short changed? To me, a $40 Lego on the table next to other $25 - $30 toys sure doesn't look like much. Of course, I understand... someone could feel short changed... just my 2 cents. Of the choices given here, I also lean towards the Hulkbuster... It's just the coolest. Minecraft is OK if you like Minecraft, but if you don't, it looks dumb. But who doesn't like Iron Man and the Hulk? But if you could see your way to work a little magic, I like the 3-in-1 Creator sets like the Mountain Hut.

  24. For a second I honestly thought "cool, what polybag is that?" And on second thought, wow. The delivery person had to try pretty damn hard to destroy it like that - does your delivery person hate you or something?

  26. It's settled! Gold bars for cushioning. Now who wants to sell me some stuff? Sound advice. Equivalently, try to ensure your packing is done better than LEGO Shop at Home, K-Mart, and (frequently) Target.

  27. I'm sure that a bunch of us would be willing to let go of an Exo-Suit to support your cause. It's right in your price range, is a bit more of a challenging build, and would probably interest a fourteen year old boy. Otherwise super heroes or Star Wars is the way to go. What about the new Star Wars sets? With the movie being released right around Christmas those may interest him as well.

  28. Hulk buster is a great set for play or display, at 14 its likely more about the build and display value than sitting on the floor playing. at that age minecraft may be good too, or of course the Vader battle fig. also what about the mclaren pit stop? anyone into cars would find it cool. not sure if they gave you any other details but there are so many options depending on what they are into.

  29. That's some Grade A+ trolling. Always ship in a box. I'd say always ship in a nice looking box, reused is ok but make sure it isn't ratty or crushed.

  30. I personally prefer the wrapped in paper method, myself. It always seems to create great conversations with your buyers when they receive it.

  32. I personally think , and obviously it is a bias opinion , that folks switching to FBA and learning the ropes so close to Christmas is a horrible idea. My 2 unwelcomed cents .

  33. This is on my 7-year old daughter's wish list. She loves his legs. Her wish list also includes Minecraft Desert Outpost, Friends Recording Studio, Duplo Doc McStuffins, Chima Ice Fortress, and Knowhere Escape. Quite a variety lol. Just a general thought... I think sometimes people assume a teenager is too mature for "toys", but I think they are often actually into it, but feel pressure to be "cool" and say they are not.

  36. Yeah... me too. [emoji4] I've started to order "critical mass" at Kmart--at least 4 items per order and they seem to always (knocking on wood here) ship in a box. I actually had 4 pickup tow trucks arrive packed in what I would call "hall of fame" condition--the box was just right with filler paper cushioning between the outer box and sets and the sets themselves. It's a real crap shoot with Kmart... Which means that will never happen to you again.

  37. Hi anyone care to venture a guess at the value on this custom Lego Colosseum. It's around 24in tall and a little over 45in in diameter. I'm only guessing but I think it weighs around 100lbs. I dont know how many total pieces but it has to be in the tens of thousands. I can count hundreds of pieces just in a small section of the structure. Also included are around 135 roman mini figures. It came from a major movie studio prop department.

  40. I would say the Vader or Grievous figure or the Eiffel Tower. The ET may have more significance now given the tragedy that occurred in France last week. If you have no idea of his interests, I'd go with the SW sets. If you find out more about him and he's a bit more mature, I'd go with the ET.

  42. If the listing title says one thing, and the picture(s) show the same thing, and the description is deceptively written in 3rd grade level English translated to French to Mandarin and back to English, you are trying to trick somebody. SNAD away.

  45. YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! I FINALLY GOT MYSELF A MONSTER FIGHTERS 'THE ZOMBIES' SET AT TARGET TODAY! WHOOHOO! Well, now that I got that out of my system. Ahem... I also got LOTR "The Orc Forge" (another Target exclusive!) Finally got the NINJAGO "Samurai Mech" (pushed this one off about as far I could!) The STAR WARS "Luke's Landspeeder" Special Edition (Walmart exclusive) LOTR "Shelob Attacks" (it's the only set with Golum, so what the heck) CITY "Police Helicopter" (7741) (Yeah, it's from 2008 but I like it!) CITY "Police Minifigure Collection" (7279) And a total of six polybags! 1 ATLANTIS 2 CITY (both from 2010) 1 TOY STORY 3 (green army man with jeep - also 2010) 1 HARRY POTTER (it's Harry with...a desk & some potions?) 1 STAR WARS (Republic Attack Cruiser minibuild) ......God I'm so broke right now. P.S. Walmart just did a 'RollBack' on many STAR WARS sets (maybe some other ones) as well as some of the 'Online Bundles'. For example, the STAR WARS "X-Wing Starfighter" which retails for $59.99 is now $49.97! The "TIE Fighter" is now $44.97! (LEGO Shop at Home is still selling it for $54.99!)
