Finished the Bricktober sets from 2015 today with the TRU store. I am really surprised at the size difference between these and last year's sets but I much prefer the size of this year. I feel like the 2015 builds were more complex and used nicer bricks and in better colors. I took some photos of size for comparison. My favorite is the trains stain mostly because of the colors with the TRU store a very close second.8 points

This set reminds me of the ugly girl/boy friend you had in high school, who you see 4 years later and wished you had stuck around.7 points

I guess it is somewhat safe to say that the person on Bricklink who spoke of the new box in the Montreal LEGO store was full of crap.3 points

Here's how i see this set. Some AFOL's want a set that non-lego fans will see and say, "WHOA,,,,that's Lego?" They want an impressive display piece. They want something that looks screen accurate. This is the ONLY set from the LOTR / Hobbit series that accomplishes most of those requirements. (maybe the Unexpected Gathering does at a smaller scale)2 points

Honestly don't even sell them. Just find anyone who will take one and just get rid of it. The boxes have too many fall colors (it's almost winter), they take up too much shelf space, and it doesn't even come with a single hobbit, elf or dwarf minifigure. They're your whole demographic. This one is a stinkfest.2 points

It's available outside North America at shop at home. I'm guessing friends/associates in europe shipping to USA. It would be very nice if history were to repeat itself and walmart sells this as a $30 BF special.2 points

I wasn't trying to say hustle wasn't irrelevant... It takes a decent work ethic to find the best deals, to pack items well, to put effort into your listings, etc. I'm not questioning whether you work hard (you might, you might not.... not for me to decide) but even some people who work hard may not play fairly. Peyton Manning is revered as a nice guy who plays hard and works harder but is fair with everyone and everything. Tom Brady is a great football player, works hard, but got caught cheating and refuses to come clean. So what I was meaning is that regardless of how hard you work, in my mind it's not worth it if you abuse policies, coupons, discount programs because you've lost your integrity (and yes, that's my own subjective definition).2 points

I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but Blains's Farm and Fleet has the following JW sets for a discount. Probably not a deal with shipping, but not bad if you can pick it up: IR: $124.89 Reserve for pickup PC: $18.89 Online and Reserve for pickup DA: $27.89 Online and Reserve for pickup RR: $44.89 Online and Reserve for pickup TT: $64.89 Reserve for pickup2 points

But in this case it's as if mommy has a rule that says that you could only have 1 cookie before dinner. But Tommy keeps asking for another, and every time she just keeps giving them to him - as many as he wants. Come dinner time Tommy isn't hungry, and mommy is furious and outraged - So he is banned from the dinner table, for life.2 points

Unfortunately, buying direct from LEGO to resell also violates their policies of selling to end consumers only. It's not about the hustle, it's about playing the game with integrity. Some will get it (Peyton Manning), others won't (Tom Brady).2 points

Ok here is an update. Things have changed on how we get our data and the format that it is in. It seems that everyone in all the major companies are really either closing doors on data that is given out, or clamping down on how people share info. I have a bunch of code that I need to update in order to work with the new data. I need a few more days to work this out and make sure it's right. The good news is that, based on what I see, I hope that as everything moves forward, it will not need to be monthly updates. It could possibly make it's way to weekly updates, we will have to see. So if anyone asks where is the update, just point them to this post. I will try to get it out there as soon as I can.2 points

Buonasera, Ciglione! I managed to find several R2D2 sold in the regional cities of Russia, including Siberia. Searched through my network and asked mates to buy them for me. There is a lot of DS (though the price is not attractive now), few R5, many ToO, AA, MSC, etc. Unfortunately, the whole Ideas theme is not available officially here. To be honest, I don't know the number of brickpickers. The colleagues, I shared my idea with, do not trust the idea, though we are working in investment business (mostly commercial real estate). I can only guess that last winter ruble's devalvation made Lego exports to USA very profitable for Russian lego-investors (how do you call us / them?), but the effect was later evened by the retail price indexation. P.S. While I was an passive reader for the last two weeks, it has always been nice to go through your long posts regarding sets behavior.1 point

Just a few comments based on other comments here: Regarding whether or not Finn is a fake-out force user. I believe he IS a force user for two reasons: 1) He's on the poster with a lightsaber. That poster is going to be around for generations. Why put that on a poster that would feel "fake" for years after the movie comes out. 2) Remember the first teaser trailer when Snoke says, "There has been an awakening....have you felt it?" And then....boom, Finn pops up. What's that tell you? The force has awakened in him. Regarding C3P0, he's with Leia. In the behind the scenes footage you see him standing with the Resistance peeps, and Leia is part of that group. R2D2 looks like his is with Luke, potentially. Although that shot of Luke touching R2 could just be a flashback. I am assuming Luke sends R2 at some point with a message to Leia or someone. But R2 has always been Luke's little bud. If Luke is in isolation, I can totally see him taking R2 along for the ride. And regarding Boba Fett, I don't know. There is a Mandalorian sign on that place that Han is leading Finn and Rey into in the new trailer, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it is a Mandalorian place. I think that might just be the pirate's den that we saw in the comic con footage, and all those signs represent different species, planets, etc, and Mandalore is just one of them. If anything, I think we get Boba Fett in the new Han Solo movie. MAYBE in Rogue One.1 point

The infographic is nice ....and confounding. Of course anything involving time travel is headache inducing since there really is no clear cut method; only theories which is a fancy term for "maybes". Still perhaps we should be content with such being a fantasy if only so we won't have to deal with the outcry from the techies going "nuh-uh, that isn't how time works!". Ha. There is a number of spots we could pick apart from Back To The Future the same way people do with the Star Wars prequel trilogy but then you're not enjoying the film for what it is and instead nitpicking everything under the sun like an opinionated critic. Anyway the one part that confuses me is when old Biff goes back then somehow returns to the future where Doc & Marty are because as explained later when Marty suggests going back to the point in the future when old Biff steals the Delorean with the Almanac in an effort to prevent him from giving the article to his younger self, Doc explains the return is not possible since the timeline they are currently in has already changed therefore trying to travel to that origin of the ripple is impossible unless they could also cross alternate timelines which the future Doc & Marty are from has now become. Wow, in my head and through speech I feel like I can make better sense of this time business but trying to write it down is simply confusing. Ah who am I kidding, any conversation involving time travel talk and.....1 point

Sorry if I offended anyone, it was not my intent to come off as a know-it-all. I agree that some sellers have worked hard to develop supply chains, and those sources aren't always "public" even if they are perfectly legitimate. I've been lucky to find some of those sources myself, and I have visited Legoland many times. I spoke without researching the seller mentioned in the OP, so I apologize.1 point
