Agreed! And that will bring to an end any comments that do not have to do with the T1 set. Anything not having to do with the set will be deleted.5 points

And here is my second contribution to this thread! I owned this one as well and it is probably one of the smallest castle sets ever created: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/6034_Black_Monarch's_Ghost The speeder bike obviously is the alternative version of the horse. As for the raven/bird I put a droid head on the floor The gates of the bunker are actually functional as well, so you can open and close them just like in the original black monarch's ghost set (even though it's a bit more tricky here haha). https://www.flickr.com/photos/136641789 ... 946744053/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/136641789 ... 946744053/4 points

Its part of the New LEGO Program called RE-Program. Re-issues of old sets , Re-done boxes, unfortunately no RE sets which everyone wants. It replaces Re-tirement programs4 points

This thread is "What did you sell today and for how much" not "I'm going to comment about the margins I don't know you're getting because I'm bored." I think he meant he bought them at retail and sold them for 50% more. Jeff_14 also sells a lot locally (Toronto is a big market) so how do we know that isn't true? Besides, London Drugs in Canada had all the JW sets for 15% off and after had a 15% + $10 off a while back so an IRex set could be had (and was had) for $132.76 out the door where I live. That's about $100 US which redghostx often buys in Canada and sells in the US so even with fees and shipping... $198 - $100 = $98 .. what's left after fees and shipping? Looks like a tad over 50% is possible. What's the point? Again, let's keep speculation in the proper place please .. and this is not that place.3 points

And I think we should all leave these posts about Hitler and WWII as history too. I understand the potential relevance to the VW brand, but it's not the appropriate place to discuss here in this thread. The VW scandal is an interesting development for sure (and disappointing for those that own them for sure) but the reality is that the T1 is iconic. I don't see why LEGO would change their plans for a set that is already long in the tooth due to a scandal involving modern day VWs. Most people don't look at "old cars" with the same appreciation or dislike as "new cars" (or vice versa) anyways.2 points

I hoped for this thread to pick up steam a little bit faster but I'll try to keep it up posting my contribution to the castle goes to space contest in detail. After coming out of my dark ages I really wanted to build some MOCs, but due to time issues (you all might know these...) I just recently started to build MOCs. Thanks to the castle goes to space thread that Orkking shared with out I found the motivation to build my second and third MOC so I wanted to share them with you! As kid I always loved knights! Of course I also loved Space! So this topic is great for me. I always wanted to have Star Wars LEGO when I was a kid, but there was none. Only later the first SW sets came out and now they have plenty of them and they are all great! (These actually brought me out of my dark ages!). On the other hand I feel that the theme castle is being neglected but for the recently retired Lord of the Ring theme. (NEXO Knights might join castle and space... but I'm not really looking forward to what I have seen so far of it... but how fitting to find a castle goes to space thread here ). So what did I build? Here is my first contribution to this topic: It is based on one set I actually still own that goes by the name Royal Drawbridge. (LINK: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/6078_Royal_Drawbridge) After seeing Leopolds very impressive space version of Drawbridge Defense I didn't want to build anything too similar so I decided on another take (even though that might take out some of the "space"). In Star Wars the Rebels rely on camouflage and hit and run missions. A little bit like the protagonists in The Hobbit (you'll probably get the hint). So I built them an outpost on some forrest planet. The big green "walls" on the top are radar devices that can also be used as radar jammers in the closer area to keep the imperials in the dark. They represent the walls of the Royal Drawbridge. In a set like this I couln't find a satisfying solution to building the upper part of the royal drawbridge alternate version so I decided for a high reaching radar instead that is well fitted for space communication. (And also allows us to see that this is more than just a pile of dirt or a fallen tree there in the woods... even though it is well enough disguised so the imperials won't notice). The drawbridge itself is now a secret entrance that serves as entrance/exit for a speeder bike. With two more entrances at the sides that cover the openings where there are iron bars in the drawbridge set. The "falling" play feature of the bridge is translated into a hidden hatch (hope that's the correct word in english) with a ladder on it so the rebels can enter and exit their hidden outpost from above. Feel free to discover what became of the DRAGON knight and the royal knights (A skeleton or something similiar didn't fit into my vision of this MOC sorry... ) https://www.flickr.com/photos/136641789 ... 946744053/ And as you can see on the second picture (and if you are interested some other pictures on flickr) you can take it all rather easily apart and inside is an actual base hidden. This was important to me, since it should be a great set on it's own with nice play features https://www.flickr.com/photos/136641789 ... 946744053/2 points

I think the point was that at some price points you begin to enter the realm where a scammer will intentionally target your item because it becomes 'worth their time'. Over the course of selling 1000 items, you might have 5 deals go wrong, but if those 5 deals are the most expensive items you sell (like $1000 SSD's) then it's not something you can just shrug off like a Raptor Escape being lost or returned SNAD. I think it's worth bringing up the points you did to help our community protect themselves when dealing with the much higher end items. Thanks for sharing it. If anyone has other ideas, we should collect them in a topic "Selling High Price Lego - Protecting yourself" or something like that.2 points

My advice is to do the right thing and give your customer his money back since he returned the item. Obviously your buyer was new and did not understand the correct returns process but IMO that does not mean you get to screw them over regardless of what the hacks at ebay CS tell you. In these situations I like to spend no more than 5 mins thinking about what to do. All the time spent thinking about it, contacting ebay, trying to contact the seller, you are losing productivity, money, and also missing out on other opportunities. So many sellers on ebay make things personal and lose out on so much time and money because of it as well as adding to the perception that it is a bad marketplace. Treat it like a business and your results will improve exponentially. Sounds like you may be out $10 in shipping? I bet if you had thought it over for 5 mins and just refunded your customer you would have moved on to other deals or listed more items and be up a few hundred dollars overall by now. Nobody likes returns but they are a part of doing business online and finding a way to get past them emotionally as well as allowing the correct margin to deal with them financially will lead to big money down the road.2 points

Car brand debates are 100% pointless. Everyone has an argument as to why their favorite is the best and nothing anyone says will change anyone's mind.2 points

Hey fellow Brickpickers! I'm a huge fan of the "Building LEGO" part of this forum and topics I frequently visit and stay up to date to are the MOC Highlights, Rebuilding the Classics, etc. As for me I am still more of a humble builder but ever since I restarted this hobby I felt this urge to create something on my own or modify LEGO Sets. What this forum always lacked (for me at least) has been a thread where people share their own creations and modifications. Until now these things ended up in the topic "What did you build today" or in other random threads. I'd like to invite you all to share your humble, awesome, small, big, crazy, etc. creations and modifications :-) I'll start with something - rather humble if I compare it to all these madly awesome MOCs I've seen - that I have build recently. This is my take on "Toxikita's Toxic Meltdown" (http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/70163_Toxikita's_Toxic_Meltdown). At first I wanted to build a lab for a zombie scene with some star wars minifigs, but I ended up with this ;-) (I guess I could still just put some star wars minifigs in there ^.^). Hope you like it and share your own creations soon! This is a general overview of the built. As you can see I tried to put some lab stuff into it and it is made up of two sections. One for regular research and another one for more dangerous research projects. Normally these two sections would be safely devided but somebody broke the glass and opend the door... Toxikita and her henchmen met some resistance when they forced their way into the facililty. Now they can do as they please while they keep the researchers and guards under control. Some detail of the lab equpiment:1 point

My minimum ROI for all sets is 25% cleared, including a user fee to cross the border, for all medium sets with one exception (a HE used set that I sold at a17% annualized ROI) but since you asked... Indominus Rex Sale Price 189.00 S&H&Fees - 44.66 Purchase price - 102.33 Gross profit - 42.01 US per set or a 41% return for a 4 week hold. T-Rex Tracker Sale Price 105.00 S&H&Fees 26.04 Purchase Price - 52.54 Gross Profit - 26.42 US per set for a 50% return for a 4 week hold. Could have squeezed an extra 3 dollars by shipping smart post but that adds a trip to Fedex. This isn't really enough profit for me on this set, based on the work involved, so I bumped my price up and will hold for later. Aquanauts Sale Price - 99.00 S&H&Fees - 24.37 Purchase Price - approx. 30 (have to check my database) Gross Profit - 44.63 US for a 148% return on a 3-4 month hold Darth Vader Sale Price - 130.00 S&H&Fees - 22.59 Purchase Price - approx. 45 (have to check my database) Gross Profit - 62.41 US for a 138% return on a 4 month hold. Profit may be reduced by $10.75 if I have to pay when I cross the border next time. Thank you for your concern1 point

The flip does not look worth it right now. Its like 69 instead of 49. After shipping and fees, you make 5 bucks. If it's GONE, then Christmas this might be a $100 set. Sweet spot pricing, main character, great scene, two raptors = winner. If it comes back, then you wasted some capital holding the wrong duck. Place your bets!1 point

Sounds more like 15-20$ profit, which is more like 15% margin approximately - not trying to burst your bubble, sorry [emoji16]1 point

OMG, very sorry for hearing that. My guess is you'll be okay and covered by Paypal's seller protection as long as you shipped to his Paypal address. Though I think whatever eBay and Paypal regarding to seller protection is a joke, I think they should at least do this part for us. Otherwise, why should sellers stay?1 point
