  1. SSD on amazon $999.99 + 12.99 shipping fee. buyer is only 3 states away. Raptor Escape + Gallimumus Trap combo for $104.49 on amazon. BTTF Delorean $95.48 also on amazon. sales have really accelerated out of nowhere. i was not the lowest price for these and they still sold. building up capital for some holiday promo splurge spending at shop at home. especially that gingerbread house. along with the candy and sweets, they might as well stick some of those green 1x2 flat tiles with the $100 printed on the side for good measure. ho ho ho - i love this time of year.

  5. What a load. Built it just to take pictures? Uh... there are plenty of professional pictures of it on the internet... we all know what it looks like. Oh... and you are "keeping the box and instructions"? Could it be that you bought it with no box or instructions? And that's why you felt the need to build it and get photos? That is not "new". That set is "used", and anyone with 200 minifigs for sale in his store should know that.

  6. related but different - a pet peeve of mine is Ebay sellers that include best offer on their listing and then refuse to negotiate within reason. I understand if you don't want to accept 10%-20% off - I tested the waters and couldnt match your floor. I'll move on and wish you luck. But if you're not willing to knock off 5% or even 2% of your asking price, maybe you shouldn't be using that feature. Maybe there's some secret psychology game going on here, but it seems to me like you're just cluttering up the landscape.

  8. I think this pretty much sums it up. A five year old boy (my son) watching Star Wars for the first time ever. The Death Star is... fascinating. When it is gone (whenever, if ever, that finally happens), just sit back and watch the prices skyrocket as this moment (pictured below) happens again and again all over the world.

  9. Just sold a Dynamic Duo Funhouse on Amazon for $100 CDN. Netted $80 after fees and shipping on a $55 purchase. Think I'll raise the price on my last one.

"My Wife and I bought this a while back and it sat in the box brand new, finally one night we decided to build it and then sell it. So this set is brand new we built it once basically for picturing for this listing then we took it apart and its been in its box ever since."

  13. Just had somebody offer me $185 on a 7965 MF open box listed at $215, with the note "you'll never sell an open box MF at this price, $185 is a fair offer." If you're on here, good luck selling your $1,500 UCS Slave-1

  19. Bricklink Bat-Pod! Total including tires and the Hero Facotry complete sets in order to get the pieces came to just over $115 and well worth it. Cannot wait to get this home and display next to Tumbler. The set is much bigger than I imagined too.

  20. 42006 £100. Nice buy-in at £27 from Asda very soon after release. Still got a couple left. Technic tends to sit a while but returns are usually good.

  22. its all about the accessories. usually the smallest items end up on the bottom of the bag so thats where i go first. i wouldnt say im a 1 sec guy and i find that BS, but one can get through a rack at TRU pretty quickly with practice.

  23. I think the point was that at some price points you begin to enter the realm where a scammer will intentionally target your item because it becomes 'worth their time'. Over the course of selling 1000 items, you might have 5 deals go wrong, but if those 5 deals are the most expensive items you sell (like $1000 SSD's) then it's not something you can just shrug off like a Raptor Escape being lost or returned SNAD. I think it's worth bringing up the points you did to help our community protect themselves when dealing with the much higher end items. Thanks for sharing it. If anyone has other ideas, we should collect them in a topic "Selling High Price Lego - Protecting yourself" or something like that.

  25. i have quite a few people, on separate occasions, asking me about this set in Asia, and they are happy to pay usd 1k for new set. I figured that by dec when new movie is released, the price will easily exceed 1k mark.

  26. Yeah the local listings of this for me are like $60, yuck. Most of my sales recently have been to the US. I think it might be a bit more scarce down there right now than in Canada. Also the exchange rate helps!

  32. One of the best parts of this hobby... coming home and seeing a pile of boxes sitting at the front door and totally forgetting what's inside most of em. Its like christmas! Before: I'm sure most Canadians recognize the infamous black-wrapped item :\ luckily they don't have much damage. After: Some JW to flip this holiday, Scooby-Doo for Halloween decor, bunch of pieces for the Bat-Pod (incl hero factory stuff), and i don't own Dimensions (nor do i really plan on getting it), but i really love Portal, and this little set is great even if it were just for the minifig.

  33. Hi, My name is Ikonhero. I'm new, just discovered this site. I'm looking to get back into Lego, but this time by collecting some sealed sets from the 1980's (when it all started for me really). I was wondering if it is ok to post links to Ebay auctions on this forum to get some advice on prices. I noticed the prices tend to get funky on Ebay as it comes to old and sealed sets. thank you!

  34. I also saw it as more of a moral issue. It did seem as though ebay was telling me to keep both the money and the set and not say a word to the buyer. They have zero feedback, so maybe they just dont know how it works. Bottom line is I have my set back, and once I check that all the pieces are there, I dont see how any scamming could be involved. I dont want to keep someone's money. Seems like a good way for karma to catch up with me next time I buy something. I sent buyer a message with option to either send me additional shipping cost and I will send it back along with information about how to get the instructions from Lego (again), or give me a week to verify parts and then refund of the item price minus $15.
