New code for $10 off of $50. Sounds like it works on Lego but haven't tested: NewArrival16 Just tested on new Star Wars Lego and it seems to work so we are good to go! Not sure when it expires though.7 points

My son and I spent the last couple of months Bricklinking a Super Star Destroyer (missed it when it was available). We just got the last parts yesterday, which was a baggy of 22 blue hinges that I ordered in the wrong color. We split it up over 10 different orders, both to keep the incremental cost reasonable (a bit each pay-check), and because many parts were not available from the same vendors in the quantities needed for this guy. All-in-all, I spent about $380 on the ship itself (no mini-figs or stickers). I substituted 3 piece types. The first is the infamous yellow Technic 5x5 right-angles (subbed it for black ones), the second is the large quantity of light and dark-grey 1x2 plates with 1 stud (had to sub it for the kind that has a slight groove along the bottom), and the third is a transparent blue piece that has the Emperors face on it (just the regular transparent blue piece for now). I've also picked up Admiral Piett ($20) because we have to have at least one guy on the bridge when we put it together. I'll get the rest of the mini-figs over the next few of weeks. This was really enjoyable for the 2 of us, and we spent last weekend taking inventory of all the orders to make sure we have everything we need. Our "master plan" was to hold it for Thanksgiving vacation to assemble. I don't think we're going to make it.3 points

With any business whether it be a large corporation or a small website like BrickPicker, business models change. At times, you need to ask yourselves what it is that you are looking to achieve with the product you are working on. Since the beginning, Ed and I have always set out to try and help the LEGO investor and reseller save and make money.Today we are announcing that Brick Classifieds will be changing to the FREE / NO FEES model. I don't think you can really complain about that now can you. We want to help you, the LEGO investor/reseller, to move your product. Hopefully with some of the new tools that we have added to the system and the new ones that are being worked on right now, you will help spread the word to check Brick Classifieds first to find the best prices on LEGO items. Since there are no commissions taken out of your sale, we hope that you will work to price your items accordingly. If you are not going to lose fees, you should be pricing it lower on Brick Classifieds than on the other marketplaces so that you can still make the most money. Lower prices will help bring new buyers. Once buyers learn to check Brick Classifieds for best pricing, they will check Brick Classifieds first which means more money in your pocket instead of someone elses. We have made some updates to the product detail page of Brick Classifieds. We have included listings from other Brick Classifieds sellers as well as listings from eBay and Amazon. We are trying to show the buyer where they can get the best deal. If you, the seller, do your job correctly, they should want to buy the product from you and not go to the big shops. If the prices are better on eBay or Amazon, hopefully the buyer will click through and Brick Classifieds can earn some revenue through affiliate programs. Over the next few days we will be adding feeds from BrickOwl and still looking to see what can be done with BrickLink. It's been a while since I made a post about updates, but here are somethings that have changed on Brick Classifieds: Seller fees have been changed to 0% Removed the Trade feature. That has now returned to the BrickPicker forum. Entire site is in https (SSL) mode Created an infinite scroll page to easily see all the latest items that have been posted on the site Built a Store Banner Generator for you to design a custom banner for your store profile page. This could be useful for posting specials and discounts One of the big things we want to do is help spread the word about Brick Classifieds. We created a tool that will allow you to select random products in your store or pick the actual items you want displayed. It will create a snippet of code that you can use to display your store products on forums, websites, eBay, where ever. Just paste the code we give you and your items can be shown anywhere. In the coming days, there will be an update to the price guide template on BrickPicker that will include listings of sets on Brick Classifieds Everything you need to sell LEGO items is here for you. The price is right, that is for sure. The thing is to get the word out, price aggressively and get the buyers out there to learn more about your shop here on Brick Classifieds that has great prices. Viral marketing from all of you is the best way to get people to see your listings. Price the items better than eBay, Amazon, etc. They will buy from you and you will save on the fees. It is a win for everyone. Put a snippet about Brick Classifieds in a eBay listing here or there to let them check out your store. I am sure they would be happy to pay a lower price and know that you are most likely padding the price to help pay the eBay fees.2 points

"I paid for this item this morning. Why haven't you shipped my item yet?" I can already tell that this is a person that I will wish I never sold anything too. Really? You EXPECT same day shipping? Some people are ridiculous.2 points

Resurrecting this thread. I was going to post this in the What you building from bulk thread, but then realized that it's mostly stuff I'm looking to do on Bricklink, not from bulk, that I want to talk about. I realize my list is getting out of control at the moment. This is what's on my current Bricklink "want" list. I'm starting to put together orders now: 10188 Death Star - need to finish out about 100 pieces, from a Goodwill pick up that was missing a couple hundred pieces 10211 Grand Emporium - eBay purchase that was missing about 200 pieces 10224 Town Hall - decided I'm going to try to BL this instead of cracking open my inventory for resell 10680 Juniors Garbage Truck - I just want the dumpster 20010 Republic Gunship - Polybag is too expensive 20019 Slave 1 - Polybag is too expensive 4488 Millenium Falcon - Polybag is too expensive 5004590 Batpod - I didn't win one, and I'm not buying one 5526 Skyline - Too expensive NIB 60073 Service Truck - I just want the port-a-potty 75010 B-Wing - I don't want the planet, just need the ship 7778 Midi Millenium Falcon - eBay purchase that was missing just a couple of parts SDCC Batmobile - rather BL it than buy it SDCC Superman - rather BL it than buy it SDCC Ultron - rather BL it than buy it Tatooine Mini Build - rather BL it than buy it Dagobah Mini Build - rather BL it than buy it *Whew!* I should probably slow down a bit.2 points

In the literal sense you technically are a collector. You can collect for value/rarity, etc, but you can also collect without a care about value. Sure I do care about the value of some of my things, but it's not the biggest motivator either. I technically 'collect' Blu-ray movies, but I don't do it for monetary reasons. I do it to own the movies and such. I have other stuff I've collected over the years that have no value whatsoever, but I still keep them because they hold meaning to me other than value. So yes, I do still consider myself a collector and a huge fan of Lego. I'm not trying to start a huge war about it, but it's just different definitions to fit different people's needs is all. So yes we do disagree, but we are both right.2 points

If you're still holding while so few are available in the market place and at the prices they are selling for, I just don't feel sorry for you. I wonder how many sellers had/have yanked their Star Wars inventory from BL, eBay, etc, waiting to see what hype the movie generates.2 points

Also, as others have noted, if you honestly have held onto this for over 12 years trying to squeeze ever last drop, then that's your own fault. At one point, with inflation and every other measure out there, you will start to lose money anyways as it plateaus out in value. There are exceptions of course, but 12+ years to hold on for possibly an extra couple hundred is silly, when there are plenty of sets even now that can net you more than that value in shorter time.2 points

There's some really annoyed fans out there that's it's "just" pearl gold and not chromey like in the picture. I can't wait for it to show up in North America.... that'll be a superb addition to the collection!2 points

Simply list as New in Sealed Bags instead of New in Box. NIB implies that the box is still sealed. Like zskid00 said, you're opening up yourself to a SNAD case even if you show that the box is opened by listing NIB. With sealed bags, you'll get 90+% of NIB simply because someone buying to build isn't going to care if the box is opened as long as they know it's complete and pieces are still new.2 points

My wife's grandfather recently passed away, and we acquired this old pinball machine from his estate. It's called Gold Rush. Produced by Bally in 1966. It accepts dimes and has a built in "bonus" game built into the back glass. I am not an expert on pinball machines, but was hoping to gain a little insight into its value and how to go about cleaning it up. It appears to be all original. It does work, but not perfectly. For something that is 50 years old and has probably never been cleaned or cared for properly I should expect that. I did a little research but couldn't find much on the internet other than there were only 1750 of these made and were produced for New York and Wisconsin. This makes sense because we live in Green Bay. Can anyone shed some light on my newly acquired family heirloom? Thank you.2 points

Yes, I agree in this respect. Seeing a remake within a couple of years of retirement is nonsense. But a remake of a set that came out 10-15 years ago is just fine. Especially when you consider the amount Lego has grown as a company in just the last 5-10 years alone. With all the Star Wars hype and everything surrounding the popularity of Lego, it would honestly be stupid of them NOT to re-make a set that they made so long ago. They would sell a re-make of a UCS set by multiple factors.1 point

So when is that 10179 remake coming already??? I want one and just cant bring my self to spend 5k.... heck if they are doing a 4600 piece GBHQ I want a UCS falcon with at least 6000....1 point

Yes Did not use the GC since typing all the code to save a few bucks is not worth it.1 point

I'll buy it. I personally think all the latest UCS sets starting with the b-wing have been great. I'm sure this one will be loaded with nice features, and be worth the money. I'm fine with updates if they are big improvements...1 point

Thanks. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the website says on Oct 1st...to see if the double points will stay all 14 days.1 point

I have a feeling if we were to get a UCS of The Force Awakens, it would have been from Kylo Ren's ship, not some basic fleet vehicle. While I'm happy to have the opportunity to get this at a good price again, it's not even in my top 3 of remakes I would want to see from UCS Star Wars. I'm a bit surprised by the news. We haven't seen some very iconic vehicles in UCS form and we're now getting another remake. Unfortunate. Getting another X-wing didn't really surprise as you could argue it's "the" most iconic from the OT, right there with MF, and ISD right behind.1 point

First off, my sincerest condolences for your wife's loss. On to the pinball, very nice single player "add-a-ball" machine difficult to find one in any condition nowadays of which yours looks fairly well with all things considered in particular the backglass; quite possibly the most important part to maintain pristine and original from these vintage amusements. I'm a little fuzzy as where to even begin speculating the value here and my own searches turned up less than slim results. I do remember a fully restored project of this machine going for less than $3,000 but again that was a restoration. Yours in its current original condition may be closer to $800 or more. Now I am far from an expert and have not much to form a proper value average honestly. It is a rare machine as is the other remaining electro-mechanical pinballs still standing out there but actual desirability is unknown and often when another buyer/collector is looking for one of these, it is because they have plans of restoring to some degree the machine for themselves making them hesitant with how high they will go just to acquire it taking the later costs of repair into consideration. As for cleaning the machine, here is Home Pinball Repair which is a site that covers basic tips on cleaning and repair. Also here as a second resource from a site called Pin Repair all about restoring arcade amusements is Restoring Arcade and Pinball Games. There probably are other resources including YouTube "how to" clips I think.1 point

So I'm in Asda ( our Walmart for you Americans) just picking up some odds and ends tonight, anyway in this random corner I spotted like several cases of series 13 minifigures, which looked untouched, and seeing as how they just cleared all the Simpsons series 2 down to £1, I figured I'd grab one and price check, long story short they were £1 each, so I ended up with 3 full boxes. Good random score.1 point

got these yesterday. Simpson's house (waited a long time for this one) Kylo Ren's Command shuttle Ecto-1 (which i also built yesterday....reminds me of my childhood)1 point

If you have a target selling price (say, 3x buy-in) then sometimes that can be achieved right at the beginning (RI), after some years (Dino) or maybe never all (Prince of Persia) - there don´t seem to be fixed rules. Recently we have seen that some popular sets have dipped/stagnated in resale value. Wary of a remake and happy with the price, I sold my 7965´s but held on to 10224´s even though it had reached my target get-out price because my expectation was that there was more growth to come there. Maybe it would have been smarter to do the other way around, or have sold everything to be coherent with the 3x strategy or have kept everything for 3 more years and enjoyed the ride. Sticking to the get-out price whilst jettisoning sets that don´t show good growth prospects is probably the safest and least stressful option, even if it means you will sometimes sell sooner than is optimum - the problem is we get greedy and want more from certain sets than is perhaps reasonable.1 point

Buying these for about $20 a pop at TRU ebay fire sale was a steal, even though it has been slow to move back up. It's selling for about $50 now so that's 150% above what several of us paid for. Unfortunately I may have gotten carried away and still have more than 50 of these...1 point
