I missed out on the HH for myself last year, was able to pickup 5 at the time but just got a used one on eBay for $325 which I think was ok considering.
  8. This is hit or miss. I've had the same TRU give me both coupons and price match, then two days later refuse to give both (one or the other) and then a week later give both again. Just depends on the store, the managers and how the cashiers are trained (or not trained). Whether my stacking works or not I am always polite, I never complain, and I act apologetic and friendly when my tactics don't work. I hope everyone does the same.
  9. TRU now has the 75053 Ghost at $71.99. Stack a 20% coupon with 10% TRUSA (that's TRUTH on Saturdays), and it comes to $51.83 (+ tax). 42% off. That's the best price I've seen all year.
  10. They can also be found wrapped around newspapers.
  11. So I heard you like helicopters....
  12. exciter1 posted this a day or two ago - there are 3 per set and TRU has them available
  13. For lack of a better place at the moment, here's a post about the fallout from this "discovery" .. http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/comment/381034/#Comment_381034 Warning, there is a LOT of potential set names revealed. If you don't like spoilers, don't go!
  14. Look at the bright side... You don't live in Quebec. /kidding
  15. To be Frank, the white gives me indigestion but the black one looks like it will be edible.
  16. The piece count could work. The set could be highly detailed and finished on all four sides, unlike the Modulars. It could also have a super detailed interior. I would love to see it, but I have to wonder if there are not better models to invest 4600 pieces into.
  17. Hope for the best but prepare for the wurst.

My 4 cases of series 14 from indigo arrived this morning. Extremely fast shipping from Canada. I ordered these two days ago. All four cases are still sealed. They didn't even open the lego cardboard box they came in. The packing slips were all inserted into their own plastic envelope and stuck to the outside of the shipping carton. I am extremely happy with this company, and the price on these can't be beat.
  19. Just found a nice little bonus after sorting this lot
  20. My partner is taking a six month sabbatical (she's a prof) and we're going to Perpignan France for 6.5 months. Was going to post about it closer to as we don't officially have our French visas yet. France isn't part of the British commonwealth so it's a ton of stupid paperwork!

ok, you are the one order loose bags and that is why gregpj did not get a sealed case
  23. I finally got a used fire brigade for $175 plus shipping on eBay :)
  24. Well, fantastic news. After all this talk with not only here, but the wife and everything, I just received notification from lego that I'm a winner. My only assumption is someone had won and didn't respond in time and so they moved on. I'm so damn stoked. I can't wait to receive my shipping notification.
  25. I'll actually be kinda annoyed if they make this. Of all the popular licenses Lego has access to, they choose Ghostbusters to make a 4600 piece set?
  26. funny how lego IDEAS downed the project and now are making it themselves NOT to pay the original designer royalty fees... same with helicarrier
  27. Just finished my third modular and second via bricklink. Spent a hair over $400 on it. Could have been cheaper but I stayed pretty true to the original except for the third floor windows. The front door, dark blue posts next to the doors, blue shirt minifig, and skis over the door were the priciest. I did end up with some extra doors so I can sell them to get it under $400... or do another one...
  28. Thirsty, I'm not trying to call you out but, this post is a perfect example of why anyone thinking about getting into this needs to sell a few items BEFORE they wind up with a portfolio worth $70k. Buying is easy, finding deals is a thrill. Selling, no matter what platform you're on is hard. Anyone doing this needs to know that. Good luck, I've sold on eBay for over a decade and am, for the most part, happy with it.

  32. TRUSA didn't start yet? When I was at my store Thurdsday, the cashier said it starts today. I was also doubtful and, I even asked her, "Are you sure?" And she said, "Yes". ... of course... she could be wrong... and who knows if TRU cc's are even working in store today? I have had no problem using coupon on any item that ends in "$X.99"

  34. Well since someone brought that little joke up, anyone seen Santa's Slay?
  35. It was. Man I played with that toy like crazy. You had a trigger to make the blades spin and there was a working winch. Good times. He didn't because if they had then there would be fees owed towards the original actor and some other litigations I have no idea about. For all intents and purposes, they did capture the essential likenesses and attitudes of the characters. Interestingly Ernie Hudson actually wanted to replay his role for the cartoon but they went with Arsenio Hall instead.
  36. Sold $9 grand US in the last three months. All on ebay, all going for hammer price. I'm quite happy with the results, had a couple duds, but for the most part a very profitable endeavor. I'm on a project out in Revelstoke BC so I am away from home for the next couple weeks, will resume selling going into the middle of October. Looking to unload a good $10 grand if I can between here and Christmas, probably get rid of a lot of my duds and replace stock with better sets. Going to blow out some discount Brickmania stuff too if you guys are interested.
  37. Finished the last of The Force Awakens sets with the Snowspeeder set. Of all the sets this looked the least appealing to me but it's much bigger and better looking in person and I really really like it. I still don't get the functionality of an opening top vehicle in the snow though. If I had to rate the sets in order it would be: 1. Poe's X-Wing (a surprise to me since I wasn't originally planning to get this set) the cockpit piece and color scheme is amazing. 2. Millennium Falcon - with the figures being a part of my vote for it here 3. Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle - even though the wings are not at the right angle it is a fairly easy mod to correct and of all the sets this one felt like a UCS set and a fun build. 4. Snowspeeder - like the way it looks like a hovering boat with giant engines, snow trooper is great 5. Rey's Speeder - love the colors, fun little build 6. Tie Fighter - the new printed pieces in the dark red are great pieces 7. First Order Transporter - I was so disappointed by this set. I wanted to love it, it was one of the first that I purchased but it just doesn't work for me. Disappointed but the figure selection is pretty good.

Don't know if this has been posted so, apologies if it has. From GrooveBricks: If you might recall, not long ago a list of the LEGO Star Wars Winter 2016 sets was leaked by the crew over at MintinBox. Though preliminary, this list seemed very promising. There hasn’t been much talk about these sets since then, however, Eurobricks user Hulk_Smash has broken the silence and thanks to him we now have some valuable information regarding some of these sets. First off, we have some details regarding the Bespin Carbon Freezing Chamber set. According to Hulk_Smash, the set itself will be composed of a stair and a platform. It might seem boring and plain, but if you think back to the scenes in which the chamber was shown, the dark floor and steps with orange lights looked amazing and very Star Wars-y. LEGO could perfectly pull an unexpected move and amaze us with a cool replica of said design. Regarding the minifigures, Hulk_Smash says we will be getting Boba Fett, a frozen Han, and an Ugnaught. Yes, you read that right, we are indeed getting an Ugnaught! In regards to the Battlefront Battle Packs, we are indeed getting a Rebel pack and an Empire pack. The Rebel’s comes with a speeder and 4 rebels, one of which is a rodian. Similarly, the Empire pack also comes with 4 Stormtroopers, however, Hulk_Smash is not sure if they are new variants or if they are just regular stormies. Moving on, Hulk_Smash also talked about the new Hoth Attack set. He says it’ll be a smaller version of the one we got a couple of years ago and it will come with a couple of troopers of both sides. He also stated that there will be a Probe Droid included. Another set that was mentioned was the new Droid Escape. Hulk_Smash says it will be a bit less curved than the previous, will be composed out of more than just a few big pieces, and will have two Jawas along with R2 and 3PO. Finally, Hulk_Smash also went on to talk about the new Obi-Wan Starfighter. The starfighter will be the usual Episode III one, the only major difference is that its color will be red. It will also include Obi-Wan himself along with R4. That is basically all the information we have right now regarding the new Winter 2016 Star Wars sets.
  39. The one and only thing that interests me is if it comes with an Ecto-1 or not. In the one this person is selling it is not included. http://www.marktplaats.nl/a/kinderen-en-baby-s/speelgoed-duplo-en-lego/m963899502-lego-modulars-custom-ghostbusters-hq.html?c=8c285449651fa109c354bbabe740c1b&previousPage=lr

  43. Even taking fees into account, eBay may still be the better option (if you're not top rated, expect 13% fees from USA buyer, as opposed to Bricklink where you should expect 6% fees from USA buyer). It all depends on the set. Evaluate both and choose the best for you and your sets...I use whichever to my best financial advantage, which usually means Bricklink for me. But not always.
  44. Buying is maybe 5% of the work, selling is 95%. I use eBay, been selling for about 15 years there. It's not easy, not in any way. You have to work your tail off to keep customers happy. I go above and beyond - lots of communication, pictures of packed items and packaging, and nearly instantaneous upload of tracking info. Even then, about 10-15% of buyers are a pain and you have to deal with them. You need to setup a system. Everything from listing items (and taking photos), to receiving payment, then the whole packing and shipping routine. I have corporate accounts with both Fedex and UPS; printing labels at home is the only way to go. I also have an inventory of about 100 different boxes ready to go. Just steel yourself for the idea that selling a large inventory is going to be a lot of work, and take a lot of time. A $70k Lego inventory, sold over eBay an item at time, is a good 6 month nearly half time job, or it could be done over about a year to 18 months working off hours. That's just how it is. The only other alternative is to find a buyer for the whole lot, and with a $70k inventory, nearly any buyer is going to want to net 15-20% on that (after their fees), maybe more. You'll take at least a 30% hit on the value of your inventory if you try to sell-out as a whole, but it is an option if the thought of selling off individually is too much. FYI, I have a smaller inventory ($50k-ish with good growth potential) and my plan is to spend my 1st year of retirement (in 3 to 5 years) selling Lego. YMMV.
