  7. I missed out on the HH for myself last year, was able to pickup 5 at the time but just got a used one on eBay for $325 which I think was ok considering.

  8. This is hit or miss. I've had the same TRU give me both coupons and price match, then two days later refuse to give both (one or the other) and then a week later give both again. Just depends on the store, the managers and how the cashiers are trained (or not trained). Whether my stacking works or not I am always polite, I never complain, and I act apologetic and friendly when my tactics don't work. I hope everyone does the same.

  9. TRU now has the 75053 Ghost at $71.99. Stack a 20% coupon with 10% TRUSA (that's TRUTH on Saturdays), and it comes to $51.83 (+ tax). 42% off. That's the best price I've seen all year.

  13. For lack of a better place at the moment, here's a post about the fallout from this "discovery" .. http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/comment/381034/#Comment_381034 Warning, there is a LOT of potential set names revealed. If you don't like spoilers, don't go!

  16. The piece count could work. The set could be highly detailed and finished on all four sides, unlike the Modulars. It could also have a super detailed interior. I would love to see it, but I have to wonder if there are not better models to invest 4600 pieces into.

  18. My 4 cases of series 14 from indigo arrived this morning. Extremely fast shipping from Canada. I ordered these two days ago. All four cases are still sealed. They didn't even open the lego cardboard box they came in. The packing slips were all inserted into their own plastic envelope and stuck to the outside of the shipping carton. I am extremely happy with this company, and the price on these can't be beat.

  22. My partner is taking a six month sabbatical (she's a prof) and we're going to Perpignan France for 6.5 months. Was going to post about it closer to as we don't officially have our French visas yet. France isn't part of the British commonwealth so it's a ton of stupid paperwork!

  26. Well, fantastic news. After all this talk with not only here, but the wife and everything, I just received notification from lego that I'm a winner. My only assumption is someone had won and didn't respond in time and so they moved on. I'm so damn stoked. I can't wait to receive my shipping notification.

  27. I'll actually be kinda annoyed if they make this. Of all the popular licenses Lego has access to, they choose Ghostbusters to make a 4600 piece set?

  30. Just finished my third modular and second via bricklink. Spent a hair over $400 on it. Could have been cheaper but I stayed pretty true to the original except for the third floor windows. The front door, dark blue posts next to the doors, blue shirt minifig, and skis over the door were the priciest. I did end up with some extra doors so I can sell them to get it under $400... or do another one...

  31. Thirsty, I'm not trying to call you out but, this post is a perfect example of why anyone thinking about getting into this needs to sell a few items BEFORE they wind up with a portfolio worth $70k. Buying is easy, finding deals is a thrill. Selling, no matter what platform you're on is hard. Anyone doing this needs to know that. Good luck, I've sold on eBay for over a decade and am, for the most part, happy with it.

  39. Part of me belives this because of the person who leaked it but most of me calls BS because of the piece count and price. Do you really think TLG is gonna drop the 3rd largest Lego set EVER in an area that doesn't even have a theme? I don't.

  40. Price guide is consuming outliers that are throwing it off. There are a couple of bulk lots that have sold for a lot, and that's what makes the price look high. If you look at BL and eBay themselves, individuals are going for $5-$10 right now.

  41. just2good is a member here, maybe they'll come by and post more. There's no way they re-release the Fire Brigade and slap a Ghostbusters logo on it. This will be more like Haunted House IMO - standalone but you could add into a modular lineup if you make a few modifications.

  43. Wouldn't have stuck though... when you make up a URL under that sub folder it will put up a generic not found page instead of the product not available page. ie. http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Death-Star-III-10888 isn't valid even though it's a well-formed URL.

  44. In the absence of real information about who purchased the initial batch and that indeed LEGO had never planned to make more this is pure speculation (stating the obvious I know :)). While I somewhat agree that places like eBay have an impact on prices, the internet as a whole has completely changed the way "shopping" and "collecting" work. Anybody who's in the 30-40 year age range and didn't notice it should take their head out of their ass. Prior to the internet, market places such as eBay and Amazon didn't exist. There was no way for companies such as LEGO (and other large toy makers) to successfully market their products to a world wide audience. They had to rely on B&M stores which didn't exist everywhere or carry the same products or _____, etc. Back when the original Toy Shop was released online shopping was just starting it's meteoric climb (google growth in online shopping if you need facts). Of course everyone wants to know who those new people are and the fact is that it's a ton of middle class people from wealthier countries but it also includes a little bit of everyone from everywhere else. LEGO would be fools to not experiment and try to capitalize on what is essentially a new market for those older sets and they have regularly in recent years with awesome remakes of older sets (Sandcrawler, Technic MKII, Ferris Wheel) and even turning some nicer old sets into UCS models (Slave 1, Tie Fighter). Unless LEGO goes all in on re-releasing iconic sets in a predictable way or they get lazy and do 3-4 in a single year I think the worry is entirely overblown. And if I'm wrong, LEGO investing is a risk we are all taking. Those who choose to buy and hold for 5-10-20 years post retirement are taking the biggest risk. If you're trying to squeeze every last nickel of profit (as frankly it seems a number of people do) you've only yourself to blame. If you hoard and don't have a plan for selling then you've chosen to increase your risk and you've only yourself to blame. We all know there are dozen/hundreds/thousands of people out there happy to make $2 on a sale... I'm not one of them but I know I don't need to make 5x on every set to be successful with my own plan.

  46. You want us to believe you can smoosh 60 packs in just 1 minute? Isn't that a bit extreme even for series 14 CMF? Show me an unedited video of you doing it beside a running stopwatch (and your custom basket) to proof me wrong

  47. Sopwith Camel 10226 I've been putting off this post for a week as I tried to digest this build. It's not that I didn't like it, I just wanted to like it more. Don't get me wrong, I love the subject, there were some neat elements, the thing is impressive on display, and both I and my niece had fun with the build...I just wanted to like it MORE. I picked this one up for around $60 and for that price, I'm glad for the experience...also glad I didn't open one of my sealed ones. For the right person this is an amazing model and well worth the cost though due to its size, it takes a commitment to display. Oh well, spent the last 30 minutes breaking it down to move on down the road. Hopefully the next person who gets it likes it a little more than me.
