  2. Woke up at 3:00am and checked my phone (Don't judge me lol). Noticed I had sold another Wall-E and went back to bed. Finished packing the one set and when I was about to print the label noticed the buyer (From Japan, Global Shipping Program) had actually bought 3 of them. Now that was a nice way to start the morning.

  4. My WM had 4 REs on the shelf this morning along with stock of all JW sets in groups of 4. Looks like they've only been bringing them out in small batches so they don't get gobbled up. Almost like they are trying to keep life support on the stock they have... RE codes were still 22R5

  6. He's just saying a 400 dollar haunted house wont appreciate as much as a death star. I am not sure i agree that the death star will out perform the haunted house. Assuming equal price points. Death star has the brand going for it. Haunted house has scarcity. I think scarcity is going to win out. I wanted to snag some haunted houses before it hits 500+ because i see it at 1000 in 2 years. Will the Death star even retire before then?

  11. Take with a grain of salt, but I just got off phone with LEGO CS asking if Series 14 minifigures is really done (e.g. no more from shop at home) and the rep told me that they should be back in stock within 2 weeks. Played the part of the concerned father of little Timmy, worried he wouldn't get his zombie cheerleader without his father having to step foot in a target or walmart and that I preferred to buy them from shop at home with VIP.

  13. I thought I would resurrect this thread since its been a year since this debacle took place. I'm happy to report that I'm back on eBay and sales are picking up! I want to thank everyone in this thread for their advice, reassurance, and support. It turns out the best advice was just to lay low for a while and use my original account when the time felt right. I started selling on eBay in May. The summer was slow but things started to really pick up towards the end of August. So far I've sold a SSD, a Lone Ranger polybag, and a few sets in between. It's been fun a ride so far. Thanks again to everyone on Brickpicker. I would have been lost without your advice and input. What a great community we have here. I am grateful to be a part of it.

  16. There is no way I would buy a Haunted House for $400 now, and returning a Death Star to get one to me is a big mistake. The Death Star will rise fast when it retires in a few months or so, just look of all the crap I heard when I kept saying get SSD,HH, etc. Now with 46 SSD and 62 HH and I do have 56 DS most thought I was crazy. 17. Like others have said, I don't recall seeing Sold Out for something so new rather than (Temp) Out of Stock. This series is more seasonal than the rest, but 2 days would be crazy to be gone already. With all this talk, the fear suckered me into another Minfiguresplus order. I'm sure I'm not alone.

  20. Everybody's been saying how much they love this entire series.. Granted it's a good series, but the gargoyle is a cheep cop-out imho. They should've given him an accessory... They could've been more imaginative than throwing in another Frankenstein monster again, and the (modestly altered) zombie.

  32. yes - sarcastically optimistic. accentuate the positive. do i think "first edition" = more money - no probably not. do i think Wall-E is broken as it is - not really - its not like there are any parts missing from the instructions - its a modification/improvement.

  33. Wow… sold out, just like that in 2 days. Granted, these will be back, but it might be hard to land, and complete sets even harder. That bodes well for those of us with complete sets for the time being. I'm sitting on 5 of these, as of today.

  34. they are 100% bonafide first editions. i have already requested 9 replacement kits via 3 co-workers who have never ordered from shop at home and do not have VIP accounts. no risk no reward. my personal vote for box of the year 2015. so girthy and perfectly fills a 12x8x5.

  35. If you are ok with a 10-15$ return, sell now. I bought 2 and that's it for now. I'll see what happens. I don't like the idea of a wobbly head from a seller standpoint. Sounds like a snad waiting to happen.

  36. I'm very much a newbie, but I think I can take a stab at a rough answer and will hope to be corrected by a veteran for my own learning For the "why"... These sets are produced in a limited number because they're just seasonal releases, so there's a built-in scarcity that's greater than normal for most sets. These sets are only available via LEGO stores, either by visiting your local Brick & Mortar (B&M) or online via Shop at Home. So people who don't have LEGO stores nearby get the short end. Because of the scarcity and the seasonality of the sets, they tend to sell out / go EOL quickly... on the order of weeks or a couple months instead of years. Finally, these sets consistently resell for ~$20 (MSRP is $10) So even though the magnitude of the price point / profit margin is small -- say a reseller makes a $5 profit per unit after costs -- it's reliable and quick-ish to move and you're still getting a 50% ROI. For me, I'm in them currently for all of the above reasons and because it seemed like a good place to get started selling sets -- low upfront costs, reliable sales patterns and predictable margins. I don't have several hundred dollars tied up in sets that I have to wait several months or a year to appreciate in value and find out LEGO resale isn't for me. For the "how"... This part is a little more intuitive. People may have multiple LEGO Shop at Home accounts. They also may be hitting up multiple LEGO stores in their area. I don't know if there's a limit in the B&M store, but those are easy enough to work around with a little creativity and (perhaps most importantly) paying cash. I was just buying 3 on each visit to a different store this past weekend because I was a little paranoid as it's my first time. Paid cash, wasn't interested in becoming a VIP. From what I understand, playing with multiple LEGO Shop at Home accounts is a little more complicated because TLG may be cross-referencing names, shipping addresses and credit card info to try and track down people trying to play outside their rules. But, that's easy enough to circumvent for those resourceful enough and properly motivated.

  37. if you grab thumbnails from brickset you can easily make a contact sheet using Picasa which is what I did. I then cut out and tape them to my storage bins. The tricky part is getting a 6 & 8 yr old to keep up with the system.

  40. I am excited to share another in-depth look at an amazing LEGO Architecture creation, a minifigure-scale model of the Maggie's Centre in Newcastle, UK by Edward Cullinan Architects. The LEGO model is by Steve Mayes, an architectural photographer and talented LEGO Artist. Maggie's Centre is a nonprofit organization dedicated supporting people living with cancer, in beautifully designed buildings by influential architects like Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadid. Maggie's Centre (2013) in Newcastle, UK by Edward Cullinan Architects.Steve was generous enough to provide me with a lot of photos of his model, which I chose to show side-by-side with photos of the real building. I think he did an excellent job in capturing some difficult shapes and a lot of fine details in this model.Front of buildingRear of buildingAerial view of modelIf you would like to learn more about the design and construction process, and see additional photos of the model, visit http://thebrickarchitect.com/2015/maggies-centre-newcastle/Sincerely,Tom Alphin

  41. Honestly, I'm probably sitting this one out. I'll let you guys deal with the flipping, etc. I'm personally not all that excited about the sets. What will make me get out to TRU on Friday is if the C-3PO polybag is part of the deal. If so, then I'll need to be there.

  43. Indeed! On the plus side, the manager felt bad and gave me an extra 10% off whatever else I wanted (plus 20% coupon, 10% CC Thursday, gift cards and TRU monkey math) I left with a Deep Sea Operation Base (and free Joker Bumper Car) for $69 which I may try to display in my fish tank. ...and he put a Louvre on hold with a note to honor the 20% coupon (not that there won't be on next month) US...and they cock chew-block-a'ed my advent love. No sale!
