  5. I have no idea what the "average full time bricklinker" makes. I know what we make and I'm not telling. My husband and I put in about 70 or so hours per week between the two of us, we have two part time employees who put in about 10 or 15 hours per week (one of those we'll be increasing hours for soon). We make enough to stay beforehand with our bills and enjoy some of the elegancies of life. We anticipate our income going up over the next three years. We do not anticipate the ability to purchase a cozy summer place in the Seychelles. Our "warehouse" is a 15 x 30 (I think) storage unit where we spend between 2 and 4 hours per day. Our sorting room is our dining room, where we never dine. Our office is in our bedroom where we have two computer work stations and a king-sized bed that our 3 Chihuahuas graciously allow us to share with them. I've never liked working for other people so when I've had the choice I don't, but most people with a marketable education or some kind of skilled labor would easily be able to make as much as we do and many could make more. Being able to coddle my middle-aged white woman minor health issues, take an afternoon nap anytime I want, and basically organize my schedule however I like so long as I put in enough hours each week, makes the enterprise very worth it to me and has since I was a young stay at home mom with a used book business on eBay.

So you don't want to ask but then you asked? I'm up to about 3.5 full time employees to support about 800-900 orders a month. It's a LOT of labor to keep a high volume store running.
  7. I don't play the return game and neither should any re-sellers. The system is not meant to be used that way. I buy what I can afford to lose; no different than playing blackjack in the casino. I am sure the dealer will not return your money because you made a bad judgement call after you bust. I am sitting on over 50 of these. I will be begin to unload them at 2x. I do believe this set will be capped by 75917 just because of better minifigs plus a vehicle that was in the movie.
  8. I am excited to share another in-depth look at an amazing LEGO Architecture creation, a minifigure-scale model of the Maggie's Centre in Newcastle, UK by Edward Cullinan Architects. The LEGO model is by Steve Mayes, an architectural photographer and talented LEGO Artist. Maggie's Centre is a nonprofit organization dedicated supporting people living with cancer, in beautifully designed buildings by influential architects like Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadid. Maggie's Centre (2013) in Newcastle, UK by Edward Cullinan Architects.Steve was generous enough to provide me with a lot of photos of his model, which I chose to show side-by-side with photos of the real building. I think he did an excellent job in capturing some difficult shapes and a lot of fine details in this model.Front of buildingRear of buildingAerial view of modelIf you would like to learn more about the design and construction process, and see additional photos of the model, visit http://thebrickarchitect.com/2015/maggies-centre-newcastle/Sincerely,Tom Alphin

  11. Picked up 8...doing my share to eradicate them from shelves Fingers crossed on shipping condition...
  12. I'm not buying any of these this year. There were way too many sellers last year. It got up to $65 or so for a brief period but dropped back down by late Nov. This seems a lot less appealing than last years too. Santa Vader was the best. The droids don't do much for me. I hope those that take the plunge do well. You'll have one less person to compete with

  18. So I received a parcel from London Drugs today (I'd say they're like Walgreens for all our US friends... not sure about elsewhere... but they sell a little of everything). They're having a good sale on some LEGO right now but many BP members have been receiving them in bags and we all know how that often turns out. I received a single TREX tracker in black sticky wrap, taped up, in suprisingly good but the other order arrived like this. (this is staged, sort of, I put it back together after pic 2). Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 4 (sorry, it's blurry) To top it all off, on this order I had forgotten to use their special LEGOSAVE10 code and emailed customer service about my order. They refunded the $10 with a pleasant reply. Then my parcel arrives as pictured...
  19. Yes, I've seen this before. "Contact Wal-Mart, they have a charity program for Veterans that will suit your needs."
  20. Modular medieval house inspired by set 1592
  21. Here is an album filled with all sorts of stair examples cause, you know, houses need stairs. Ha.
  22. Trick or Treat - I can see picking up 120 of them, but that's a big investment at $10 each.
  23. Picked up 2 cases at TRU. Used a $200 reward on each.
  24. lol.. Yeah, I really like the "Black" line including Battle at the Black gate which i have a few, 5 or 6, but never got around to getting any of these so in one shot, I have all I want. That's funny because I always order 20 or 40 of sets I really like when on clearance, and never got any warning. Has anyone ever gotten banned from Walmart?
  25. haven't seen if this one has the limited tag but the other 2 in store do not this year. Might no go as heavy as i did last year. Will buy with promotions during Brikctober at TRU if anything (probably SW only ). Last 2 years (maybe 3) they had a limited tag in store which for whatever it was worth did seem to be much more limited than years without it. After the last 2 years of strong sales on these thinking it might be risky to go to well one more time. Although it was nice selling 125 City and SW in a day and a half last year.
  26. Everybody was thrilled when Ferris Wheel was 199.99 instead of 249.99 like it was going to be originally. So They gotta make that 50 up somewhere, 10 on Ferrari, 10 on Wall-E. now if anyone remembers the source of that price sheet you can probably find yourself a good deal on Wall-E....

Wondering if Snowspeeder 75049 is starting to make an exit - only available for in-store purchase at Target and Walmart and none of the Targets around me have any in stock. Local walmarts have a few. TRU and Kmart still have plenty. This set really appeals to me and I've got 20 which have all been obtained at discount but I might just have to scarf up the rest in nearby tax-free NH at $3.50 off MSRP. Largest (and best imo) non -ucs snowspeeder to date. Also with the new First Order Snowspeeder being released in a couple of days from Force Awakens set releases makes me think there will be rebel Snowspeeders in the new film which should help demand. _ESPECIALLY_ if we get a nice snowspeeder battle scene. SWOOSH goes the price!

Yes, 1800 sq ft in a business park. I used to run out of my house, but it was a little awkward that 2 people would come to my house every day to work. I also had a limitation that I couldn't fit more than two people in the room to work. I LOVE having a workshop. You have to get creative to find that many bricks. BrickPicker has really helped me focus on deals. The rest is the secret sauce that you have to figure out. Parting labor is the most expensive cost of the business. Use kids, teenagers, or whatever low cost option you can find. Also sorting while watching TV can help - for US football fans, you can get a lot of sorting done on Sundays.
  29. Wrong store. You would have had better luck at Spencer Gifts

I'm speechless. These are beyond awesome.
  31. Average buy-in for me on Tumbler Chase was ~$26. Not a bad return. I like the Hearse buy-in at $9 better, tho lol. I have one Gunship left so I'm bumping the price. They sold quickly for me.

So bizarre... You have some talent. Goodwill's site gives me an instant headache.
  33. Knew about the design flaw on the Wall E. Well i still bought one this morning anyway when i saw that it become available at LEGO Shop at Home. Limit of 1. Gheez Lego is being really tight nowdays. first the BBT has a limit of 1 and now the Wall E.

The September tractor promo is live. I got 5 x Trick or Treat and a Friends advent calendar (for my daughter, not investment) so I could tip to free shipping.
  35. What I found nice with this set is that the Bluray/DVD case has its own plastic wrapping inside the box. With Batzarro, there were no seals of any kind with the DVD case, so I listed "Like New" even though I never touched the disc. I sold my last few Iron Patriots for $32.99 on eBay. The fact that it was in its own polybag helps with the fear of not being original. I don't expect that good of results for Batzarro and Trickster down the road, and I really don't know why people would pay $15+ now when they could get the disc w/ it for near the same price. I know, I know, "We don't care why they do, as long as they do," right?

No idea what to think about this one. I'm sitting at 13 sets, which is either too many or too few, depending on what the redesigned box means for set longevity.
  39. 2x 60026 Town Square $150 each The hobbit goblin King $100 Battle for ninja ago city $100 (will raise this price now)
  40. Thinking about putting a set of doors in sideways on the top floor and pretty sure rooftop dragon.
  41. Let's talk about scale for a minute...
  42. Someone need to make an Anonymous call to CNN and tell them this set depicts suicidal tendencies.
  43. Picked up 2 at the Lego store looking at the display probably will need 3 to do the MOC I have in mind but 2 was the limit.
  44. I promise you it was 100% accidental. That's why I left it... I was like what the ?! Oh damn... Haha oh well!
  45. Is there a chart or list where I can see all the retired product's dates? The price guide index does not show the retired dates...only the released dates...maybe Admin/Mods should add that option? It will be great if they do..
