  1. This was on my local Craigslist today. It was too beautiful not to share at least the MOC:

  3. Sea Cow only got 6 letters, only 3 letters shorter than MSC... a little bit tedious to make abbreviation, no? Maybe MSC can be more confusing/challenging than SC for people to adapt to. lol

  10. Now that the listing is back; we can again see the local stock checker. Looks like a few in my area are showing stock which did not have any a couple days ago, will have to check.

  11. My sales have been moving quickly the last week. I've moved over $5k in modulars, many via eBay. Curiously, about 2/3 of my sales have been via eBay global shipping. Let that be a lesson: you really need to open up to global sales if you want to move inventory. My eBay modular listings have been selling like hotcakes; my usual buy-it-now, instant Paypal required listing has been moving in well under 24 hours. FYI.

  12. One of my personal favorite areas of MOCs which in sort basically is taking the varied groups of astronauts through the 80s - 90s forward with modern standards of build techniques and fantastical spacecraft. Some are updates to the classic designs but mostly original builds made/inspired by the space explorers base colors and concepts. Of course this topic will also include Neo Classic Space builds which are more traditionally specific to just LEGO's very first Space line released in the late 70s and early 80s. 13. I'm in BC Canada and headed to a toys'r'us nearby today. Secretly hoping I would see some WALL-E on the shelves, I was positive that there wouldn't be any. Not only is it August 28th (pre-release), but being in Canada, we seem to be behind and poorly stocked compared to the U.S., however, after going through all the shelves and moving various sets, I found 2 MISB WALL-E sets. Needless to say, I was flabergasted. I snapped them up right away and there was no issue purchasing them. Didn't have any coupons or anything today, but I'm at home looking at them as I write this. I plan on building one of them soon and will update with what I see in terms of quality control.

  16. I'll just do without abrevations... they often confuse me too. Sometimes I actually gotta look up what people are talking about... sometimes the actual full words are only a couple letters longer than the abbreviation. Lol like in that instance

  17. Shouldn't the abbreviation be MSC for MetalBeard's Sea Cow ?

  18. We have to seriously work on these abbreviations especially now with the reissues! Just as well that both these ones are (relative) stinkers.

  19. Just bought 2 DS from Walmart...thanks for the info. I'll be returning the 2 I got from TRU a week ago when the price was $550. Pretty much $100 cheaper from Walmart because of free shipping, I'm cool with that!

  20. Also in the Monster Fighters series, in 9462 The Mummy, some boxes came with a mummy that glowed in the dark, others contained one that did not.

  21. I did my share and picked up a couple just now. Didn't realize I had 300 in my paypal just sitting there. Been a while since I used it. So now 100. Even if they never do well...i don't see them going below msrp...so no harm done. Trade bait is good to have laying around.

  22. ultra agents is meh? My kid built a few of the bigger sets like the helicopter, and our view is that they look really cool with the blue transparent bricks against the largely black colour theme. The mini figs are also very well designed. If lego had put in the same marketing effort to this theme as they had for chima, i would think that the ultra agent theme would achieve the same popularity as ninjago. Too bad some exec in the company made a wrong choice.

  24. I can not believe this, but it happens: Walmart has 75920 available on line as its MSRP, see here: http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/lego-jurassic-world-raptor-escape-75920/6000191981665 Seems DS back on-line again there: http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/lego-lego-star-wars-death-star-10188/927208 Also Walmart has City and Friends' advent calendar of this year available on-line, but they are not released yet? http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/lego-city-advent-calendar-60099/6000193609512 http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/lego-friends-lego-friends-advent-calendar-41102/6000193609515 Good luck!

  25. Maybe the point is that you had the choice to buy them or not. With this set, we were not given a choice - had we been, it may well have passed unnoticed like so many other UA sets but because it is impossible to find people want it. See also Marina Sands and Sungnyemum which are really nothing special either or some of the Maersk and Lufthansa stuff too.

  26. Normally, I wouldn't have paid any attention to this line but reading at how many people are upset (not just on this site) that these 3 sets aren't even coming to their countries has made me take notice. The reviews I've read of the boat have been really good & the excitement prior to its release & non-release have me interested.

  27. Alongside Series 12 and 13 minifgures in some stores. Does that mean they weren't popular? Wait, there's a shred of actual data to support claim of their popularity? I'm in dcdfan's camp - I don't give two flips (or even one flip for that matter) if people buy these or not...just don't let bias cloud your judgment.

  28. I'm new to this, but the two seem incongruous to me. How does a set from such a dreadfully unpopular series double or triple in price after EOL? I've been buying these because of the perceived scarcity, but, to be 100% honest, when I look at the box there's nothing about it that excites me. I wouldn't buy it (for myself) for more than $40 or $50, and that would be just for the parts. what am I missing about this? (haha and why am I buying it since I obviously think it's lame? I'm such a lemming)

  29. Went to Legoland CA today and tried to grab the DS that I saw 3 days earlier but didn't have time to buy - sadly it was gone - but they will be getting some back on Monday. I did manage to score 2 79018 LMs that were on sale for $97.99 and got the 10% Merlin savings (they said 5% VIP couldn't be stacked on top) - came out to about $95 after tax which beat my TRUTH with 25% coupons - pretty happy with the 2 I got - now I won't feel guilty popping open a box. They had S14 polys but no Halloween sets. New TB boxes with the redesign was present. Plenty of SOH, PS, PC, EV, Sea Cow (all original design). No JW sets at all oddly. Raptor Escape huh. Idominus Rex what. Can't hear you over the fire breathing roar of Smaugasaurus!

  30. There will never be another Simpsons related minifigure series. Two of them was three too many.

  31. 70173 Ultra Agents Ocean HQ is "call to check" on SAH. Still widely available at TRU in my neck of the woods.... Picked up one more today. Very curious to see is this one will be in demand a year after EOL (whenever EOL ends up being)...

  32. Since the "Monsters" line from Series 14 seems like it will be extremely popular, and since the Simpsons is winding down, making me wonder what's next for that line. What do you think the odds are that the Lego Group might combine the best of both worlds for next year's third wave of minifigures by doing a "Treehouse of Horror" line. It is rumored the next line is a line about Disney. That would leave the summer wave open for a series 15.. then back to the fall wave. I think the "perfect storm" could line up, if they plan a treehouse of horror wave. Not saying it will happen, but I think the possibility is there. I can already see Donut Head Homer, Marge as a witch, Dracula Burns, Zombie George Washington, Kang! Ohh boy.

  33. Had $180 in TRU rewards to use up and was able to find a few things on clearance. Also used TRU card on balance for an extra 10% off: 4x Galaxy Squad Vermin Vaporizer - clearanced to $19.98 (left 7 still on the shelf) 5x Galaxy Squad Warp Stinger - clearanced to $7.98 1x Friends Heartlake High - clearanced to $19.98 (they had 1 more but the box was beat to hell) 2x City Museum Break-in - clearanced to $26.98 2x Series 13 Minifigure (Hot Dog Guy) - Regular price of $3.99 1x Series 12 Minifigure (Piggy Guy) - clearanced to $2.98 4x Super Heroes Electro polybag - Regular price of $3.99 4x Joker Bumper Car - Regular price of $3.99 Stumbled upon a Walmart that had 3 city Heavy Duty Helicopters on clearance for $35 so bought all 3.

  39. Some people think the Volvo loader will retire early but Technic sets are almost always out for two years (plus or minus last stock). Based on that, MKII should go this year (anytime) and the loader next summer... MKII may very well break that trend but the loader is licensed so Lego will be constrained by the license!

  41. One of the Episode 1 SW sets had different versions of Qui Gon or Obi Wan(different head), I can't remember which one, Republic Cruiser maybe? The City Fire Helicoptor from a few years ago made a change mid production as well. I actually had a buyer complain about these roll pins on a 10179 I sold saying the older version was the correct one and that I had changed parts on him. I ended up having to get an email directly from Lego saying that they indeed used both parts to prove I hadn't ripped this guy off. What's the deal with Ant Man?

  43. So to celebrate the strong exchange rate from USD to CAD ($1 -> $1.30), Canada Post delivered these to me today. So this works out to about $92 USD per set.

  44. Do you think Lego would spend millions on License Fees, plus millions for the molds to make these sets just to have them out for a few months. They have struck gold with this series so don't be surprised if the sets go into 2016.
