  4. Careful. The Super Star Destroyer was also advertised right before it vanished completely. I'm not suggesting the Death Star is leaving us for good soon, but I wouldn't put much stake in the catalog when making your EOL investment decisions.

  5. I would not draw EOL conclusions from what is the catalog. the 2014 summer catalog had the SSD in it, even though it was basically gone before most got the catalog. It also had TH and AA, but did not have GE, or R2. AA was also in the 2014 holiday catalog. (dont quote me on this its just based on a quick google search and some memory.) I assume EOL sets are put in the catalog to encourage sales, but not all of them make the cut. And the catalogs are likely sent to the printers well in advance, so inventory at the time of shipping is hard to predict.

  6. The moment we get a standalone modular, the Internet will break from the complaining about it not fitting with the rest of the modulars and "what does this mean for Lego investing" because this is sending a clear message.

  7. An article was published today in the UK paper The Telegraph. Ed was interviewed in this article. If anyone in the UK can find a copy of this and send us a few that would be great. I will pay for all costs. Lego a 'better investment than shares and gold'

  10. Been in a battle with another lego investor in my local Wal-Mart. They beat me to latest mark down with some Hurricane Heist and TMNT Lair but I was there today when they dropped there toys to almost 90% off. Lego were around 60% Got 8x Hurricane Heist for $29, Cloud Cuckoo for $5 and they had some bionicle for $5. And 4 other carts of toys for regular Amazon business. It was like black friday there as people were trying to take stuff out of my cart. Did give some to the ones that I knew were not selling them.

  12. Had some blue and red from 31026-1 bike shop and don't think I'll sell it so I decided moccing it. The color corresponds well with the blue from the DO. The interior hasn't been done yet. Level floor will be bike shop. First and second floor a small studio with seperate bathroom. The entrance to the appartments is via the back. Still need to build a stairs but this will be combined with another MOC building I build with the rest of the 31026-1 pieces. Also need to print some custom stickers for the windows of the shop and the plaque above the door.

  13. . I did that once. Then only a few hours later, when I got home and wanted to order, they were all gone. Maybe... when I have reached my desired quantity I will name you my source of supply. Nothing personal, just business.

  17. Good - Holiday sets (40120 V-Day, 40121 Easter,40122 Halloween, 40123 Thanksgiving, 40124 Winter, 40125 Santa Visit) These are fun to build, my kids love them and they are great to flip. I know the last few havent been released yet but I figure I would include them. - 75902 Mystery Machine - Was worried the Scooby Doo sets would be more like the movies and not the cartoons but I was wrong and I like the whole line. This should be a great reseller this holiday season as well as years to come. - 70818 Double Decker Couch - What is not to like about this set? It was a great quick flip and comes with 5 figs and blue tiles for 15 bucks. - 76035 Jokerland - Fun build, many exclusive figs and I love something to add to my theme park collection. - 10249 Toy Shop reissue - I just got back out of the dark ages less than 2 years ago and I started building the WV with my daughter. My daughter really wanted to add this to the collection but I cant stand to pay more than retail so once its gone I rarely ever consider paying top dollar. I finally gave in and was ready to pay $160 or whatever they were going for before the announcement of this release. I seriously had one in my cart when I decided for whatever reason to check out the latest Lego news. Nice to have luck on my side for once. Just missed my top 5: 40153 Birthday cake(nothing like having slave Leia jumping out of the cake, and Series 14 figs I just love Halloween so this was an instant winner for me. Bad - 21302 Big Bang Theory, I like the show, love Lego but really dont like this set. The figs dont even look like the characters. - 31035 Beach Hut, looks like something that could had been produced 10 years ago. Think they could do so much better. - 41062 Elsa Castle, My daughter is nuts for Frozen and Lego but didnt play with the castle for more than a day or so. She still enjoys playing with the figs but the staircase set as she calls it is boring to her. - 75916 Dilo Ambush, you could put the whole line minus the dinos. The Dinos are great but the builds and the figs are just plain boring to play with. - 76037 Rhino Sandman, the set seems to fall apart if you try to play with it. Wish Rhino was more like Hulk or Grodd.

  18. Another UK article came out based on Telegraph UK article. This author added a little extra point of view as well. We knew it! Why buying Lego is better than gold, savings, houses and shares And I REALLY want this vending machine!!!!

  22. You say too soon but look at the value in three years and then tell me what else you could have invested in that would have produced the same returns. I have some items that I hold on for "too long" and it may be three years but when the return is 100--200%, I understand it is just me being impatient.

  27. So the year is pretty much done in terms of sets to be released that haven´t been leaked - Hoth Exclusive is the main exception. What sets that came out in 2105 have grabbed your attention in a good or bad way and why? Here, in no particular order, are my top 5 good and bad ones: Good. 42043 Mercedes. Pneumatics, record parts content and outstanding use of Lego to create an accurate and complex workingmodel. What many AFOLs have been waiting for. 60095 Boat. I love the shipwreck and the storytelling element to this set. It really stands out from run-of-the-mill City remakes. 750093. Final duel. Good to see a new OT set that isn´t a spaceship. Again, the storyteling element is fundamental. 70751 Temple of Airjitzu This is what the F40 could have been. Detail, size and a shot in the arm for the theme. 75104 MF. Xmas wouldn´t be the same for reselleres without an MF to flip! Bad. 10248 F40. Not a bad set but it has only served to disappoint those who were looking for a bigger, more detailed set. 41543 Turg. Lego´s Donald Trump prize for P.R. goes to the byline for this model. 10249 Toy Shop. Haven´t I seen you somewhere before? 76035 Jokerland Yet another overhyped and overpriced Batman set. Messy execution, the sum is not greater than the parts. 21302 Big Bang. It´s just a baseplate and a wall. Ok, there are minfigs and printed parts too, but I don´t get it. Seems I am in the minority when sales are taken into account!

  30. expensive on price per piece basis relative to other lego sets, but still very cheap compared to other adult hobbies like realistic toy trains, swiss watches, art pieces etc. Even tickets to many sports games are more expensive than lego architecture sets.

  31. What I was trying to tell you. Invest in what you know is gone before what might be going - especially when those are uberhoarded sets like DS and PS. Also SOH may be rare due to its price point but its awful sales make ToO´s look like a Millennium Falcon´s the week before Xmas.

  32. I have a few 27R5s from the June restock. I believe it was a small run to fulfill some back orders. Similar to the most recent availability (could also be residual inventory)? I am optimistic about this as an investment. I believe people jumped too early at DS, PS, and TB (myself included) and these are going to be stagnant investments for a fair while (after they retire). I believe ToO will appreciate at a more stable rate, assumably because of lessor stock and not going through stock flux as long as the others.
