Everything else looks similar to the last update and this was basically a system/creator and City update. Almost everything that was retired has not been available from shop at home in 2015. I have a post a couple of pages prior to this that listed most of the large March retirees.

LEGO Creative Tower on amazon for $109.42 including shipping fee. Got extremely lucky, shipping to a buyer less than 90 minutes from where I live - came out to less than $8. Buy in was $30 from walmart's black friday blowout last year. Down to my last 4.

Pretty sure those horns on the terror dog were also on the cow skull in Silver Mine from Lone Ranger. As for these packs? Pure gold. Everyone that has an Ecto-1, and even those that don't yet that are fans are going to want Slimer and Stay Puft. Are you kidding me? Stay Puft Marshmallow Man as a minifig? Awesome.

I rearranged some bricks to make more room up front. The sitting Scooby fig can easily sit up front now. I'm still tinkering to see if fitting 4 figs up front is a possibly w/o gutting the original design. The camera and flashlight are still there but facing forward and backward instead of left to right the 2 light bley elements are the ones I added to secure the roof better (1x1) and borrowed two 2x2 lime plates (can be seen behind both outside elbows of Shaggy and Fred) from the Plane set.

KMart erred in my favor. After Target cancelled my Scooby plane, I went looking for another source. I had $10 in SYW rewards and there was a coupon for $10 in SYW rewards for spending $50. So I decided to order 3 planes and use SYW points to get it down to $50 exactly and replenish my $10. Today the box arrived, in perfect shape, and there were 7 sets in ther, not just the 3 I ordered. The packing slip says quantity 7, but the cost shown is for 3. No idea what happened, but not going to question it. It makes up for all the pancakes I've had delivered from them. I'll likely give a couple (or equivalent sets if these end up being at all scarce) to toys for tots this fall so I dont abuse the good karma :)

Buy a new set to save. Buy a clean used set to build. It saves money and space and prevents "Builder's Remorse."

21110 Research Institute is officially retired!

I built the 75059 Sandcrawler over the last 5 days and it is a thoroughly enjoyable build, except for bags 9 and 16. I really appreciated how the designers created the paneling and the guts of the vessel; I even enjoyed connecting the 300 pieces of tread! However, I am indifferent to the end result and this set appears to be one where the sum is less than the parts. This set is not worthy of "UCS" in my opinion as it lacks the display value of more recent sets: R2, SSD, and Slave 1 are examples of superior models and it isn't nearly as impressive as some older exclusives. Overall, I still recommend building one if you are a builder.

One thing I've learned in life is that if I have trouble making a decision and keep thinking about doing something (sane and legal) a lot, I need to just do it. The peace of mind and satisfaction that follows is priceless. I would apply that same simple philosophy to your valuable unopened sets. I bet there are a few that just keep calling to you... in my opinion, it sounds like finances are no problem, so if you originally bought them to build, then there is no harm in building them even though you instantly lose a lot of value. Another option is to check for used copies of the set for (often) half or less the price and "trade down" while using the extra moolah for whatever else you like. I imagine there are also several of your sets that have lost some appeal over the years, or perhaps you don't have space to display everything you bought... maybe you can "weed out" the least desirable candidates and simply sell them for fun and profit.

Ha. Go through this all the time! I'm out of shelf space and while I want to sell it all and reclaim some money, I want to keep nearly all of them as well. It's a never-ending battle!

Forgot to post this when I got home from work. I had 2 DS with weights that were off so I opened them both and got the same counts on both bags. Built one so I know this is correct (turns out my scale was off): Death Star (10188): Box 1: #1 - 7, #2 - 5, #3 - 4 Box 2: #4 - 6, no # - 2 Box 3: #5 - 8, #6 - 4 Box 4: #7 - 11

yeah, would be nice to fit the girls up there with Fred or 4 of them. Getting 4 minifigs to fit will be tough unless the length can be increased 3 studs. I'm also thinking about ditching the stove and sink in the rear to make more room. Scoob and Shaggy were usually eating back there. I can't also understand the tape deck in-between the computer LCDs.

Yes, it's a much more complex system than simple supply vs. demand, because the demand for certain sets--even if they have very limited supply--isn't that high. I've posted this too often (likely), but a retired Lego set is no different than other collectibles in one key way: it's only worth what a buyer is willing to pay. As a collector, of course I'd pay more for a HH than a retired fire station. Okay, bad example because there's always a new fire station... But the meaning is there. A highly desirable set which sells well will garner a better price than an unpopular set with less supply. This is the beauty of uber-popular lines like the modular buildings. I will pay more for something I want. I'm not paying for scarcity, although scarcity does come into play. It's what has made TH the "perfect storm" of the last year. TH = cool theme + high desirability + relative scarcity = Don't count on T1 being a tragedy.

Great description of the problem that I also have, longshot! Rather than skulking around toy store websites and on Bricklink, try to cultivate other interests and hobbies and take your mind off Legos. This brick addiction/obsession/dependency can't be good for any of us. If you can't stay away even for a little while, then you know you need counseling. -tongue in cheek-

I believe the 14th at the Disney Expo. However, many thought they were going to release them at comic con, but that never happened. So, it's tough to say if they will be at the expo, but that's the rumor. I just added up the cost to buy a complete set of Ep7 at RRP, and it's going to cost $569.93 to get all 7 of the main sets. Granted, discounts and coupons are surely going to occur, but still...September 4th is going to be a spendy week. Add in black series figures, and god knows what else...ohh boy.

Physical Lego Shop Lille. They had quite some PS left in stock. No PC at the moment, but more coming. ToO stock levels at Collishop very low. Get one if you need one I'd say. On Winter Soldier, I saw it indeed. TIP: buy DO and get 50VIP + WSoldier + Friend Polybag. That's what I did today :-) Personally I like the design of PR better than the PS. But people tell me PS is more compatible with a street. The build of the PS is nothing special except for the front window. PR has nicer techniques it seems (e.g. roof), but I haven't done it myself. Building my own house in lego-scale for the moment :-)) Garage ready, playroom almost... need to start the staircase! In the end you need a balance between both I think. I have enough PS, but not that many PR (yet). Both should be fine picks. Arguments about hoarding are moat as FB and GE were also very hoarded and still do well. Maybe the PS is the better investment pick, because once it's gone, it will hit 220E quickly and people late to that party will have to buy-in at these levels. And I think TH early retirement was a "box size" aberration. Recent modulars should go after 4 years. (or more) Take care

People always want something for nothing. I don't do "what is your best price?" or any of that rubbish. I sell at the price I want or else it goes back into the cupboard until I try again. The sense of entitlement is disgusting but then some of these people haggle store managers for every last cent reduced

I'm used to seeing Daphne, Velma, and Fred at the wheel up front then Shaggy and Scooby in the back of the van so when I get myself The Mystery Machine, that's how I will mod mine. I appreciate they added some gear in there to play with but I mostly remember it being empty back there (aside from whatever super stacked sandwich Shaggy whipped up).

Most of the people who loaded up SSD, TH and HH last year are the same guys who will be jumping on this or already have. The TOOS on LEGO Shop at Home and jacked up Target prices is doing exactly the same thing as what happened with the SSD a year ago. Pretty much the same exact pattern. It will come on and off from LEGO Shop at Home and people will be pouncing on it clicking refresh every hour it comes online and put it back to TOOS. Rinse and repeat the same pattern. I'm 98% sure this is going to be done before Halloween just like what the HH did last year. Those who stocked up months before today, good on you. You can sit back and watch the message boards go on a buying frenzy in the next month and a half.

Yes, always remove them using a heat gun or hair dryer. You're asking for an issue if you leave it on. Unless of course you're selling it cheaper than the sticker states.

I use a heatgun and peel them off. Never had an issue. I never leave the sticker on as some buyers will use this as an excuse to extort a partial refund on a certain selling platform.

So, yeah. Guess that didn't work for me after all. That review was from back when the DS was first released, and they didn't number the bags. Now the bags are numbered (1-7), and into 4 boxes with numbers on them. I'm trying to figure out how many #2, #3, and #4 bags there are.

What if they did an Office Space theme? (Clearly this would never happen). They could do minifgs of Michael Bolton, Milton, and Lumberg at Innotech (complete with TPS reports that aren't stapled correctly) and a UCS Shenanigan's and finally we could get Jen Aniston in minifigure form.
